Scars Of Our Past

Raphael then went on the rooftop to contemplate everything that just happened. He had a psychic connection with a girl he barely knew. A girl who technically wasn't a human. "Why am I always into the aliens?" Raphael asked himself, "Does she know I'm blind?" He could then hear the footsteps of someone. The voice then said, "Raph, are you okay? You don't hate me because of what I did, do you?" He could recognize her voice and scent. "I don't hate you Sunset," said Raph, "in fact, I kind of relate to you, as far as the hot temper and anger is concerned. In fact, when I was younger, I used to be just as headstrong and overconfident." She sighed in relief, smiling. Raph took off his mask, and turned around to face her. She saw his scarred, pale, blind eyes. "So, did you put two and two together?" he asked. "I could tell you were blind since I met you," confessed Sunset, "the Daredevil mask kind of gave it away. Not that it's a bad look. Kind of makes you look cool. The scars, that I didn't know..." Raph smirked. They got closer. She gently stroked his cheek, this time physically, a gesture Mona Lisa had never done, causing Raph to blush. "Do you often do the whole feeling someone's face to know them?" asked Sunset. "Not usually," admitted Raph, "but I could for you." Sunset giggled, then breathed in, closing her eyes, calm. Raph gently put his hands on her face, feeling her fair skin, her soft hair....

"You really are beautiful," admitted Raph, causing Sunset to blush. "How long were you blind?" asked Sunset. "A year," confessed Raph, "did I feel lines on the back of your shoulder blades?" Sunset sighed, took off her jacket, to reveal the two thick scars on the back of her shoulder blades. Raph touched them, but in a gentle way so he wouldn't hurt her. "It doesn't hurt anymore," said Sunset, "but it's a reminder of the demon I once was, when I had my wings..." She put her jacket back on. "Guess we both got our own scars," commented Raph. Sunset nodded and asked, "How did you get those scars and become blind?" Raph shook his head and said, "I don't like talking about it..." Sunset rubbed her arm, and said, "I understand... Can I..."

"Touch me so you can look?" finished Raph, "sure... You might not like what you see." Sunset then focused, and touched the top of Raphael's head, and her eyes turned white. She looked into his past from when he could see, the moment he met Mona Lisa in space and her betrayal, to when Shredder's cyborg blinded him with the beams. Once she finished looking into his memories, she gasped. "Now you know," said Raph. "All that anger was your way of hiding your vulnerability..." said Sunset, "if Splinter were alive, he'd be proud of the man you've become." Raph smiled and said, "Splinter once said that just because I wasn't his favorite student, it didn't mean he thought I was a bad son." The two sat on the ledge, wondering what to say next. "Raph?" asked Sunset. "Yeah Sunset?" he replied. "Are we friends?" she asked. "Yeah, we're friends," assured Raph, glad to know they were taking the first steps before they became serious "soulmates." Sunset twirled her hair and asked, "Would you and your brothers be willing to train me?" Raph shrugged and said, "Sure."
