Much later, Sunset and Raphael guided Garrett to the lair. Once they were outside, Raphael said, "Okay, just wait here for a minute Garrett. I gotta let my brothers know a few things before I introduce you to them." Garrett nodded and said, "Take your time. One more thing..." He then hugged Sunset. She was at first surprised, but welcomed the hug. "Sorry, I just wanted to give you a brotherly hug since I haven't seen you forever," admitted Garrett. "Well I'm glad to see you too Garrett," replied Sunset. She and Raph then went into the lair, holding hands. Leo was watching Space Heroes on TV, Donnie was working on another one of his inventions, and Mikey was playing pinball. Raphael cleared his throat and said, "Hey, uh guys... Can we get your attention please?"  Leo turned off the TV and said, "Sure Raph, what's up?" Mikey quit playing his game, and eyed Sunset and Raph holding hands. "Are you two a thing?" asked Mikey. Sunset rolled her eyes, smiling. "Well that's the good news," admitted Raph. "The other important thing is that my brother Garrett is here," said Sunset. "In fact, he's outside right now," said Raph. "Can he come in?" asked Sunset. "Sure," said Leo, "and congrats you two." Sunset and Raph smiled at each other. "You can come in now Garrett," said Sunset. Garrett then came in, and took a look around the lair. "Hi everyone," he said, "it's nice to meet you all." 

"It's nice to meet you as well," responded Leo as he got up from the couch and shook Garrett's hand, "my name is Leonardo, I'm Raphael's older brother and leader/sensei of this group." Donnie put his invention down and got up, shaking Garrett's hand and said, "Name's Donatello. Pleased to meet ya. As you can see, I'm the genius of the group." Garrett smiled and said, "I can tell. You remind me of my marefriend. She's a bit of a bookworm genius herself. You'd like her." The Turtles looked dumbfounded and asked in unison, "Marefriend?" Sunset laughed and said, "He meant to say girlfriend. Where he and I are from, the language of Equestria is quite different." Mikey then walked up to Garrett and said, "And I'm Michelangelo, the coolest of the group. You remind me of Andrew Garfield." Garrett raised an eyebrow and asked, "That guy who got injured from falling down at that Halloween store in January in that one episode of BoJack Horseman? Interesting comparison."  Michelangelo laughed and said, "I like this guy! He's funny!"

"Garrett, I believe there's something you wanted to tell us?" asked Raphael. "Ah, yes!" Garrett realized, "Please, let's all take a seat." And so the Turtles and the Shimmer siblings sat on the couch. Garrett cleared his throat and said, "Now Sunset, Twilight told me that you came here to investigate what could be dark Equestrian magic here in this New York. But it's a lot more serious than you think. A week ago, Star Swirl had a vision. And in his vision, he found out that the magic causing all these people to die in their sleep is caused by Dark Heart." Sunset gasped in horror, "Dark Heart?!?!?! He's here in New York???" Garrett nodded solemnly. Raphael cleared his throat and asked, "Not to be rude, but who's Dark Heart?" 

"Oh right, guess you're unfamiliar with the story of Dark Heart," said Garrett, "allow me to explain. Before Equestria, there were entities. Entities of light, and entities of darkness. There was one dark entity that came before Equestria was formed. He was known as Dark Heart. When Equestria was formed, he wanted to consume it in darkness and corrupt it into his own dark image. For centuries, he would plague everypony with nightmares, even when they were awake. He was what you would consider a boogeyman. But there were a team of extraordinary ponies that put a stop to his reign of terror, The Pillars." Mikey raised his hand and asked, "The Pillars? Are they like The Avengers?" Garrett was confused and asked, "What are The Avengers?" Before anyone could get offended, Sunset whispered to Garrett what The Avengers were, and Garrett said, "Oh... So The Avengers are like The Pillars! Okay. Forgive me, I'm not as culture savvy as you guys."

"No problem bro," said Raph, "continue with your story." Garrett nodded and said, "Thank you Raph. Anyway, The Pillars made the effort to stop Dark Heart once and for all. Dark Heart's intentions were to merge with an Alicorn to become the Midnight Sparkle. If Dark Heart became the Midnight Sparkle, such a being would be unstoppable! That's when the Pillars knew they had to strike hard. So they fought him, and then banished him to an alternate dimension where he wouldn't harm anypony, er, I mean, anyone! But Dark Heart was patient. He waited a thousand years for the right Alicorn, and for the right time for the Pillars to return. A year ago, I went to visit Princess Twilight Sparkle. Suddenly, we were sent to the dimension where Dark Heart was banished. He intended to use Twilight so they could merge into Midnight Sparkle. We fought him, and we defeated him with our love for each other. We blasted him away, and thought that was the end of him. Imagine our horror when we saw this was not the case. Apparently his spirit, though weak, was able to find this dimension, in the dream realm. And thus, he's been a boogeyman in your dimension since, and he's been growing more and more powerful."

"And that's why you're here?" asked Leo. "Normally Princess Twilight would be here to help Sunny," explained Garrett, "but she sent me on her behalf to help you guys stop Dark Heart. She says hi, by the way. Now we need to think of a plan and-" Suddenly, a familiar voice groaned. The Turtles and the Shimmer siblings turned around, and saw it was April. She was a mess. Her pajamas looked torn from unknown scratches, her feet were bare, and she looked like she hadn't slept in a week. She weakly said in fright, "He's here... you're all gonna die..."
