Ikkaku
Regular's PoV
I hate it. I hate him. He's so unfair. He's mean. He's harsh. He's the exact opposite of me. So, why am I dating him? Who, you ask? Ikkaku Madarame. We've been dating for a while now. Looking back on it, I'm not even sure why I liked him in the first place. Then I remember the praise he gave me when I became an official member in Squad 11. I remember my heart thumping and my body freezing. My breath was short and I blushed an unrealistic shade of red. I guess that's when it happened.
But now it's different! He's so frustrating. So irritating! It feels like we're not even dating. I'd say something sappy like, 'My boyfriend's in love with another girl!' But this isn't that situation! My boyfriend is in love with fighting. He's in love with the rush, the adrenaline. The challenge. So all he does everyday is pick fights, train, sleep, and get drunk.
I don't know what to do with him. I just want a little bit of attention, or at least the acknowledgement that I'm his girlfriend. One can hope right?

It was pretty gloomy today. The clouds covered the usual sun that shone above Seireitei. There was even some light wind blowing every now and then. It was cool, breezy, and over all nice. But the one thing that sucked was that it made me tired. It made me think about all of Ikkaku's shit. It made me a little bit depressed.
I let out a tiring sigh, continuing my way toward Squad 11. I was on patrol last night and had a meeting with Rangiku as well. So I was just now coming back to my own squad barracks. I used flash step instead of waiting for someone to open up the gates for me. When I got inside, I noticed that everyone was training. No one bothered to turn my way when I appeared before them. I walked through the group of men that fought and sparred against each other.
"FIRST SEAT, HAYAMA SATSUKI-SAN!" I looked over my shoulder when I heard my name roll of some guy's tongue. It was a man that had just graduated from the Academy. Usually people who just graduated are supremely offended by the fact the the lieutenant and the first seat are held by females. It especially goes for Squad 11. Not many have accepted Yachiru-chan and I as apart of the squad, much less their superior.
"Hai?" I asked, turning my body to face him half way. The guy looked at me intensely. His eyes flared with hatred and unacceptance. I smiled kindly at him, though it was in a somewhat mocking way. "Something I can help you with?"
"I challenge you for your first seat position!" He yelled, catching everyone else's attention. A circle of people formed around us. I tilted my head. I was too tired from night patrol to deal with this guy, but that's probably what he wanted. So now I can't back down.
I grinned a bit, letting a little laugh escape past my lips. "Sorry, but that's not how things work here. You have to earn the position. But I'll be glad to challenge you." I accepted. The guy cringed in anger. Without any warning that the battle had started, he charged straight for me. I pulled my 8 inch zanpakutou out from its sheath, blocking the attack. "Ah, a little warning next time would be nice." I frowned.
"Squad 11 isn't meant for girls!!" He yelled in my face, applying more force. I slid backward an inch. I observed his form and scowled.
"Arra? How sloppy." I told him, pushing back roughly. The guy flew backward, landing on his feet. But that didn't last and he stumbled backward onto his butt. Laughs broke out around us. The guy stood up quickly with a blush on his cheeks. He growled, turning to the crowd circling us.
"Guys! She a girl! A first seat of Squad 11!! Let me remind you that this squad is meant for the greatest warriors amongst men! Will a girl really be ranked higher than us! Together! We can take her down!" He announced. I was a bit shocked by what the foolish male was doing. Sadly enough, he was getting through to some people. Men around me began chanting and rioting.
"ATTACK HAYAMA!" They chanted over and over again. I clutched my zanpakutou tight, and pulled out the secret second half of my weapon. The men closed in around me, pulling their own weapons.
"Tch." I scoffed a bit, slowly moving in a circle so I could get a view of everyone. "Annoying." I frowned a bit.
-----
"Ikkaku!" Yumichika yelled bursting through the doors of the indoor training area. Yumichika's breathing was rigid and cold sweat dripped down his temples. There was a feint look of shock and worry.
"Hah?" Ikkaku scowled, not liking that he was interrupted during his personal training. He turned his head to look at his friend. "What is it Yumichika?" He growled, moving through motions again.
"It's Satsuki! She's being teamed up on by everyone in Squad 11!" Yumichika rushed out. Ikkaku froze at the statement. An unusual feeling flooded through his brain and chest. He felt livid and worried. Who would mess with his girlfriend of all people!?
"Let's go!" Ikkaku sheathed his weapon, rushing off. Yumichika was right after him. They ran and used flash step to get to the open training lot faster. The busted through the doors, just as the men charged at Ikkaku's girlfriend. "Tsuki!" He yelled in anger, but none of his subordinates froze.
-----
They all charged at me; all at once. Without hesitation, I jumped upward, letting them all crash into each other. "Make them into puppets, Doku Ryu!" I called. The blade of my 8 inch zanpakutou in my right hand, began to dissolve into a white poisonous gas. I spun in a circle, distributing the gas around me. I slashed the air in front of me, horizontally. It was like I was using a broom. The men beneath me flew left and right.
"You bitch!" Those with enough energy left growled out. I rolled my eyes, hold the bladeless hilt to my zanpakutou in my left hand.
"Light them up, Higitsune!" I released. Red and orange fire flared from the blade in my left hand. It shot out toward the people coming toward me. With the gas they inhaled, the fire caught onto it and enclosed them into pits of flames. They began screaming in agony. So with the flick of my wrist, the fires were gone and the blade of Doku Ryu came back.
Around me were fallen members of Squad 11, that challenged me and failed to follow up. I sighed tiredly. I really just want to sleep. "Tsuki!" I heard. Only one person called me that. I looked up while sheathing my two zanpakutou. Ikkaku and Yumichika were running toward me. Shock was evident on both of their faces. "Oi, are you okay? Did those bastards lay a scratch on you?" Ikkaku asked me.
"Oh, Ikkaku..ah, I'm fine." I smiled gently. Ikkaku still growled though. His brown eyes dilated, glaring at all of the unconscious bodies around us. I sighed, thinking about the argument I was mentally having earlier. "Well, I'm tired from patrol. I'm going to nap." I announced, moving past my boyfriend. Ikkaku took my wrist and stopped me though. I mentally groaned.
"Are you sure you're okay?" He asked, looking genuinely worried. I rolled my eyes, turning toward him.
"So, now you care?" I asked raising an eyebrow. Ikkaku flinched back in surprise. His mouth opened to reply, but I waved off his grip and walked away before he could say something.
-----
I was in my room. I slowly stripped from my uniform, placing my zanpakutou near my bed. I pulled my sleeping wear from off my bed, and carefully slipped it on.
The surprised expression of Ikkaku was still engraved into my head.
"Idiot." I muttered to myself. I kneeled down, falling lazily onto my futon. "Making that kind of face."
Sleep soon devoured my being.

Ikkaku's PoV
I couldn't get those words out of my head.
'So now you care?'
The hell is that supposed to mean? And what the hell was with that look on her face. Looking at me like that. What's up with Satsuki.
I was in the indoor training room again, away from all those other bastards that call themselves my subordinates. "Ikkaku?" I heard my name being called. Glancing to my right, Yumichika was leaning against the door frame.
"What?" I clicked my tongue. "This is the second time you've interrupted me today."
"Sorry." Yumichika apologized. He pushed off the door and stepped in front of me. "Something wrong? Since Satsuki went to bed, you've been out of it."
I glared at my friend. "It's nothing." Yumichika gave me that look; that one look telling me that he didn't believe me. Instead of retorting, I rolled my eyes. "I'm heading to bed too."
Yumichika stepped after me. "It's barely even noon." He said. I turned, glaring at him again.
"Your point?" After, Yumichika didn't bother stopping me.
Almost as if on automatic, I headed to my room. But my head was still filled with Satsuki. She's been acting strange lately. I've noticed that she's been quiet, which is unusual for her. And the way she fought those guys earlier. Satsuki's not one to go all out against people who can't fight back. It was unusual that she even released her zanpakutou against them.
She's irritated about something.
I stopped, realizing where I was. Instead of heading to my room, I stood in front of Satsuki's. I guess that I was thinking about her so much, that I automatically went to her.
"Better leave before she gets even more pissed off." I muttered, turning away.
"Ikkaku." I heard Satsuki whisper my name though the thin doors. I reached forward, gripping the door.
"I really shouldn't." I thought to myself. "She's gonna kill me." But despite telling myself that, I slid the door open. I quietly stepped inside.
I was no stranger to the room. I've been in here more than I could count. The room was unlike its usual bright self. Instead it was dark, with the windows covered and no sign of anyone being in here.
I walked toward the back, where Satsuki's futon is. I peeked around the corner, only to see my girlfriend tucked underneath her covers. I couldn't help but to smirk. Slowly I stepped closer, and kneeled down. Her face barely peeking out from under her sheets. Satsuki's eyes were closed, fluttering every now and again, but never opening.
"Tsu--" "!!!"
Suddenly, I was against the bed. Satsuki was straddling my stomach. Her right hand against my chest and her left gripping the smaller half of her zanpakutou. The blade threatening to break the skin of my neck.
"I....Ikka...ku..?" My name rolled off my girlfriend's tongue.
"Yo." Was the only word I was able to say.
Satsuki released a sigh. She pulled her zanpakutou away from my neck. Her figure relaxed, and she completely sat on top of my stomach. She looked at me with tired eyes. "Idiot. What are you doing sneaking into my room like that?"
"Sorry." I said.
Satsuki raised an eyebrow at me. "You apologized?" At the remark, I scowled.
"If you're gonna act like that, then I take it back." I looked away. Satsuki clicked her tongue. "You just gonna sit on top of me?"
She looked down at me, scanning over my features. "Dumbass." The word escaped her lips, as she dismounted me. Satsuki sat besides me. "What're you doing here anyway?"
"Dunno." I shrugged, not bothering to get up from my current position. "Came here kinda on reflex."
Satsuki sighed again. "Well leave, so I can go back to sleep."
I looked at her. She seemed more restless than normal. It was odd. Though Satsuki wasn't saying anything to me, I could plainly tell that something was bothering her. "What's bothering you?" I asked, testing to see if she'd tell me.
"Nothing. Just go." She urged, lying back down. Her face buried into her pillow. I shifted to my side, silently watching her.
I closed my eyes, moving closer. "Liar." I had whispered.

Regular PoV
What is he doing?! What is Ikkaku doing!?
Close. He's too close.
It's unusual. Weird. He's not the touchy type. What's wrong with him?
I didn't move as Ikkaku shifted closer to me. His arm wrapped around my waist and his breath kissed my neck. "Liar." I tried not to shudder at the sound of his voice.
"Dumbass, you're too close." I muttered, hiding my face away.
"You're surprisingly more hostile than I originally thought." Ikkaku spoke nonchalantly. I groaned.
"You're more clingy than I thought." I had retorted.
Silence followed for a few minutes.
"Seriously, what's wrong?" Ikkaku brought up again.
My chest pounded, and my head was spinning. What the hell? I'm getting these feelings again. It's just like when I first met Ikkaku; when I first fell for him. "I hate you." I whispered, the covers muffling my voice.
Ikkaku was silent. He pulled me closer. "Haah?" I peeked at him. He looked at me with an incredulous expression.
I turned, so my face was instead hidden in his chest. "I hate you. I hate that you're so blinded by your love for fighting." I couldn't stop as the words escaped past my lips. "I hate that you don't acknowledge me. I hate that you think about fighting more than you think about me. I hate that you only express your love when you're in heat. I hate--"
I couldn't breath suddenly. Ikkaku had pressed his lips to mines. His left hand intertwined with my right. His figure hovering above me.
What was going on?
Ikkaku pulled away, still leaning his forehead against my own. "You're the dumbass." He stared gruffly.
"....haah?" I mimicked him.
"You say that I love fighting more than you?" Ikkaku asked. "Apparently you don't know how much I think about you."
"I don't--" I was cut off by lips against mine again. He pulled away with a smirk. "That was on purpose..." I glared at him.
"I always think about you." Ikkaku continued. "I constantly feel the need to protect you. But then I realize that we're in the same squad. You're more than capable of handling yourself. But the worry doesn't go away."
I was baffled by Ikkaku's confessions. He always put up such a tough and uncaring facade. It was even tough for me to read him. But apparently, I was like an open book to him.
"I feel like an idiot..." I whispered, looking away from the male that hovered inches above me.
"Cuz you are." Ikkaku's shoulders shook. A chuckle rumbling through his chest.
I reached up, effectively pulling him down onto me. I hugged Ikkaku close. "You're one to talk." I retorted. Ikkaku's gripped tightened around my waist. "I love you, dumbass."
"I love you too Tsuki." Ikkaku muttered.

Omake**
We lie in my futon in silence. I was comfortable in his arms and he was comfortable in mine.
"Tsuki?" Ikkaku's voice broke the silence.
I hummed in response.
"What were you dreaming about earlier?" He asked, his voice muffled from being buried in my neck.
"What do you mean?" I questioned.
"Before I came in, you said my name in your sleep." He smirked, moving to see my face.
I felt my face heat up.
"JUST LEAVE ALREADY DUMBASS!!"
