(Y/N P.O.V)

I walked about the fire nation ship we had stolen. It had been four days since Aang nearly died and we were trying to work on the invasion plan. Without the earth kingdoms forces we had to figure out how we would attack successfully. We had agreed to picked up Sokka and Katara's father and his men, which is how we got the stolen ship. We had to sail instead of using Appa so we weren't spotted. I headed to the front of the deck and sat down. I thought about when we left Ba sing se.

(Flash back)

We were on Appa as Katara healed Aang to save him. I then felt someone hug me and say something that I couldn't here since it was muffled. I could tell it was Toph so I bent down and whispered. "Could you say that again, I couldn't here you."

In return I got a punch to the shoulder, that hurt like a club swing, and her hugging me tighter. she soon fell asleep and I smiled. After a minute I started to drift off to sleep as well from the long day.

(Present)

I then felt a frown cross my face. 'I wonder why she has been avoiding me though'. I then felt footsteps coming my way. Once the person was here they sat down next to me. By the height and the way they walked I knew it was Toph. I smiled and turned to her. "I thought you were avoiding me."

Toph:"What gave you that idea?"

You:"oh I don't know, maybe the fact you haven't spoken to me since we left Ba sing se."

Toph:"That doesn't mean I am avoiding you or don't like you."

You:"I never said anything about not liking me."

Toph:"I-I, j-just shut up."

I chuckled at that and she hit me on the head. "Oh, what did I do?"

Toph:"That's for leaving."

I was still rubbing my head and felt something touch my cheek. "And that's for not dying."

I spaced out for a second and when I came back to my senses she had already walked away. 'Did she?...or did I just imagine that?...I am so lost, could she like me too?'

(Toph's P.O.V)

I walked onto the back deck of the ship. 'Did I really just do that?!...do I like (y/n)?...does he like me back? Ugh this is so frustrating'. I sat down to think.

(Time skip a month)
(Y/N P.O.V)

Aang still has yet to awaken and the modified invasion plan was almost completed. Now we just had to get all of the people we knew could help. I still haven't gotten to talk to Toph about what happened on the deck because she was almost never near me, when she was she quickly made an excuse to leave. 'Did I do something wrong?' I thought as I sat in my room. We had just recently picked up pipsqueak and the duke about a eight days ago. We have only made it about half way to the tip of the earth kingdom. I was still concerned for Iroh since he must've been captured in the cavern when we escaped. 'So many questions and so little answers'. I thought as I got up and took a walk around the ship. Everyone was asleep except the people steering the ship. I sat down and let the cool breeze pass by me. 'I have no way of getting my answers yet, I guess I will have to play the waiting game'. I thought as the ship sailed smoothly through the water. 'I have to get strong in the mean time'. After that thought I started to make a sphere of air and submerged it underwater. I focused on every like wave that moved and had the current lead it to the air sphere. I then flattened and straightened out the sphere of air. Once I was done the water was being bended by my air bending, it wasn't as good as a real water benders bending but it worked. I felt the waters weight on my bending, water bending is a little tricky when you aren't supposed to do it. I focused the thin stream of water and air on one point. It was hard to do but I got it to strike at a rock that was on the ship. It just splashed off. I made another air sphere and tried again, this time making it thinner and more focused. I got a splash again, I tried another and another and another.

(Time skip 4 hours)

I made another slashing motion and aimed for the same rock. I was panting and a little tired but I was determined. Once the air/water slash had made contact I went over to the rock and checked it. I felt a cut on it, not a really deal one but it was progress. I smiled I had done what no one else had, I had copied one element with a different one. I couldn't make water from the air like a real water bender but I could learn the same offensive and defensive moves, provided I had an available water source. The same can be said for fire bending, I can exert slight control over fire, but not as much as water. I then made another sphere and did the same process for the thousandth time, except this time I focused most of my effort on one side of the water and made a sort of blade with it, I then slashed at the rock again. After I slashed at the rock I went to check the cut on it, it had Brocken in two, I smiled at my achievement. I continued my practice for about three hours before I decided that I would get a little sleep. Though I couldn't help but feel like I was being watched.

(??? P.O.V)

'So he's getting stronger, well I will just have to move up my plans before they are both out of reach'.

(Time skip one week)
(Y/N P.O.V)

I have been training every night getting better and better at controlling my air/water bending. It wasn't perfect or anything but it was successful. I had a long way to go before I will find my limit on it, but I will continue to improve it. I walked out onto the deck and heard foot steps behind me running. "Stop wait!"

I then heard someone fall and something slide across the deck. "M0mo?"

I heard a familiar voice say as I turned to face them. I heard everyone else gather too. I heard Toph speak. "Twinkle toes that's gotta be you."

Katara:"Aang your awake."

'Finally he's awake'. I smiled at this news.
