I was walking past Zuko and Aang while they were training and heard Sokka coming. "Just breathe and..."

I felt the air heat up about two degrees and go back down a second later. "That one kind of felt hot."

Zuko."Don't patronize me! You know what it's supposed to look like!"

Aang:"Sorry Sifu Hotman."

Zuko:"And stop calling me that!"

I just shook my head. 'This is gonna take awhile to get used to'. Sokka walked up with an apple. "Hey jerks, mind if I watch you two jerks do your jerk bending?"

Zuko:"Get out of here!"

Sokka got up to walk away. "Ok take it easy, I was just kidding around...ha...jerk bending, still got it."

I 'looked' at him and said. "Yeah you do Sokka it's right there."

I point at his forehead. He tried to look up and started smacking his head while running. "Ah get it off! Get it off! ah."

I just started laughing at his idiocy. "H-how doesn't he r-remember...haha...that I'm blind?!"

(Sir we have a Timeskip inbound)

I was sitting next to Toph, eating stew, when Zuko decided to join the group. "Listen everybody, I've got some pretty bad news, I've lost my stuff."

Toph:"Don't look at me, I didn't touch your stuff."

I whispered to her. "Did you?"

She then flicked my forehead and I chuckled. "I shall say nothing."

Zuko:"I'm talking about my firebending, it's gone."

'Well that doesn't make sense, bending doesn't just vanish'. "Ahahah."

I heard Katara start laughing. 'Well she's getting a kick out of this I suppose'. "I'm sorry, I'm just laughing at the irony, you know how it would have been nice for us if you had lost your firebending a long time ago."

Zuko:"Well it's not lost, it's just...weaker for some reason."

Katara:"Maybe your just not as good as you think you are."

Toph:"Ouch."

Zuko:"I bet it's because I changed sides."

Katara:"That's ridiculous."

Aang:"I don't know, maybe it isn't, maybe your firebending comes from rage and you just don't have enough anger to fuel it the way you used to."

Sokka:"Soo all we need to do is make Zuko angry, easy enough, hu ha ha hae."

I could feel the annoyance from Zuko as Sokka started poking him with his sword. 'Of course he treats it like a toy'. "Ok cut it out!! Look even if you're right, I don't want to rely on hate and anger anymore, there has to be another way."

Toph:"You're going to need to learn to draw your firebending from a different source, I recommend the original source."

'Hmm, it would make sense and be beneficial to have a more sustainable energy than anger'. "How's he supposed to do that? By jumping into a volcano!"

Toph:"No, Zuko needs to go back to whatever the original source of firebending is."

Sokka:"So, is it jumping into a volcano?"

I facepalmed at this. "I don't know, for earthbending the original benders were badger moles. One day, when I was little, I ran away and hid in a cave. That's where I met them. They were blind just like me, so we understood each other. I was able to learn earth bending, not just as a martial art, but as an extension of my senses. For them, the original earth benders, it wasn't just about fighting. It was their way of interacting with the world."

Aang:"That's amazing Toph, I learned from the monks but the original air benders were the sky bison. Maybe you can give me a lesson sometime buddy."

Appa:"Grrraa."

You:"He probably could teach you quite a bit, mine did."

Toph:"What happened to yours?"

I blank for a second. "It's a long story."

Zuko:"Well this doesn't help me, the original fire benders were the dragons and their extinct."

'That would explain why we haven't encountered one on our travels. "What do you mean? Roku had a dragon, and there were plenty of dragons when I was a kid."

Zuko:"Well they aren't around anymore ok?!"

Aang:"Ok ok, sorry."

'He is hiding something, this isn't his normal everyday anger'. "But maybe there's another way, the first people to learn from the dragons were the ancient sun warriors."

'This is bad, if they want to go there then they too will know the secret. I should probably go with them, so they don't get killed'. "Sun warriors? Well I know they weren't around when I was a kid."

Zuko:"No, they died off thousands of years ago, but their civilization wasn't too far from where we are now. Maybe we can learn something by poking around their ruins."

Aang:"It's like the monks used to tell me, sometimes the shadows of the past can be felt by the present."

Sokka:"So, what? Maybe you'll pick up some super old sun warrior energy, just by standing where they stood a thousand years ago?"

Zuko:"More or less, either I find a new way to fire bend or the avatar has to find a new teacher."

(Sir the Time skip has hit port side, we have another inbound, evasive maneuvers required)

We have been flying for a few hours now, and still I felt no land. 'I wonder how far 'not too far' is to Zuko'. "We've been riding for hours, I don't know why, but I thought this thing would be a lot faster."

Appa:"Grra."

Aang:"Appa's right Zuko,  in our group typically we start out our missions with a more upbeat attitude."

Zuko:"*mumbling* ghu can't believe this."

Aang:"Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it."

I just shook my head. 'Wise but ignorant Aang, wise but ignorant'.

(Mayday mayday, does anybody copy? This is the......we've......Time skip I repeat Time s......we need h...Ahhh!!)

We came into range and I could feel all the buildings that were in the ruins. 'Just like before'. I heard Zuko and Aang speak in sync. "Wow."

We landed and started our hike. "Even though these buildings are ancient, there's something eerily familiar about them, I can tell the fire sages temples are somehow descended from these."

Aang:"Ok we learned something about architecture, hopefully we'll learn something about firebending too, the past can be a great teacher-Whaa!"

I heard as he tripped over a rope and triggered a trap before I could warn him. 'At least he made it to the other side'. "Wha uhh, Zuko (y/n), I think the past is trying to kill me!"

You:"And that is why you should always look ahead of yourself."

Zuko:"I can't believe it, this boobytrap must be centuries old, and it still works."

Aang:"There's probably a lot more, maybe this means we shouldn't be here."

I paled slightly remembering all the traps around the ruined city. 'Not a fun time finding those'. Me and Zuko then jumped to the other side of the spikes where Aang was, he used the wall and I used my staff to poll valt to the other side. "Where's that upbeat attitude you were talking about? Besides, people don't make traps unless they have something worth protecting."

I 'saw' a pathway to the left and decided to go that way. "I will catch up with you guys later, be careful of traps, I'll meet you at the top of the spire."

Aang:"Where are you going?"

You:"No idea."

I left before they could say anything else. After a couple of minutes of walking I found what I was looking for. I walked into one of the smaller buildings that resembled a house and heard snoring. I chuckled, 'not really any different from back then'. I could feel all the holes in the walls, the moss and leaves on the outside, and the old man lying on a bed. I went over and shook him a bit. "Wake up Yosh."

He grumbled a little and opened his eyes, then in a split second he was in my face with a ball of fire mere inches from my face. "You have five seconds to tell me who you are and why you're here or I'm gonna burn your face off, 1!"

I smirked. "Have you really forgotten me? It's only been what, a hundred years?"

I could feel him stiffen a little. "No he's dead!..."

I decided to interrupt him. "You once three an apple at the elders, you also once said 'when I am old enough I shall ride a dragon so frightening that even a spirit would run away in fear', the elders had to place a gate around the sunstone to keep your 3 year old self from hugging it and rolling away by 'accident', and y..."

I felt him pull me into a back breaking hug before I could finish. "It's so good to see you (y/n), and you haven't aged a day!! Ha this means I'm finally older than you, I'm 115 take that!"

I chuckled. "Well technically I'm 117 so I'm still older, and it was height not age remember? Which I'm still a few inches tall than you as well."

He just grumbled. "*mumble*I feel like that's cheating, your still young."

Yosh:"Anyway what brings you back to the land of the living? Besides pestering me."

You:"Well I have two friends who wanted to come here to learn the original way of firebending, so I tagged along!"

We started chatting and catching up. I told him about being frozen in ice and he told me about how he had a son and grandchildren, with great grandchildren on the way. After awhile a woman came in and jumped a little when she saw me. "Grandpa who's this?"

Yosh:"Ah Fera this is (y/n), (y/n) this is my granddaughter Fera."

I smiled and waved at her. "It's nice to meet you, I didn't think I would get the pleaser of meeting one of my friends grandchildren."

Fera:"Well it's nice to meet a friend of my grandpa, So how do you know him anyway? It's not like he leaves the city and no one has been here in at least fifteen years."

I smiled. "Well I happen to be from a hundred years ago, so you weren't born yet, but I was here with another friend of ours named cha and my brother Sean. We had heard about the ruins and wanted to see what techniques you all used, we had no clue that the sun warriors still existed. Cha alerted Yosh to our presence by continuously getting caught in or activating traps. We were spared from death because we were so young, but cha did grab the sunstone without thinking and we had to be licked clean to get free. Before the air nomad genocide I was frozen along with the avatar and woke up in the southern water tribe."

Fera:"That's quite the story, but then again grandpa does have some interesting friends."

She walked into another room. "I'm gonna make dinner, you can join us if you want (y/n), I'd love to here more about grandpa's childhood. And see if his stories were true."

You:"Which ones?"

Fera:"Well he said he tamed a great dragon that could set even the tallest mountains ablaze."

I couldn't even try and hold in my laughter. "What's so funny? I spent three days trying to catch the beast!"

I started holding my sides in pain and laughing. "The only 'beast' you 'tamed' was a seven inch lizard that bit your finger every time you touched it, and it only took you three days because you got scared when it looked you in the eyes. And even when you did catch it you lost it when you turned around."

I could hear Fera laughing like crazy now too. Yosh was grumbling about how it was eight inches and not seven. "Anyway, you aren't the only one to come here today (y/n), there are two other people who were captured by the chief."

You:"Did they get stuck in the vicious slime?"

Fera:"Yes they did."

I turned to Yosh. "I guess that means I won the bet."

Yosh:"Damn."

Fera stuck her head out. "What bet?"

You:"I bet that my friends, who were looking around the ruins, would get caught in the slime. Your grandpa bet they would get trapped in the 'closing walls'. Looks like I won."

Fera just shook her head. "Really now grandpa? What was the prize?"

Yosh:"If I won then he would have to spend a few days here..."

You:"And if I won he would have to give me a tiny bit of the sacred fire, while I would love to stay but I am very busy stopping a war. So tomorrow we will go and put a tiny bit of the flame in this."

I just heard her sigh. "You need to not do these things grandpa. Ok dinners ready."

We both went and got some food. After eating I was allowed to stay on the cot.

(The Time skip has taken countless lives with the estimate in the tens of thousands)

Me and Yosh were walking to the sacred fire. There wasn't anyone in sight so it was easy to get there, but once we got there it was different. There were 2-3 dozens men, Zuko and Aang all around the place. We had to wait for them to leave, but I overheard them talking about meeting the masters. Once they were gone I walked up to the fire and Yosh bent some of it into a little lantern that was no bigger than the palm of my hand. "Ok now that I have that, time to go catch up with my friends."

Yosh:"It may not be such a good idea to disturb them while they meet the masters."

You:"I have too, besides, I have something I need to do up there."

I could hear him sigh. "I know you won't change your mind, but try not to piss them off."

I smiled. "No promises, but before I go do you know who is left of our group?"

He was silent for a moment. "Well there's Cha, you, and me. I know Lee and Cera are still alive, but Mei and wan passed away recently. Yu, mui and Dou all died over two decades ago."

I sighed. "So only half of us left huh? Well I suppose that happens after a hundred years."

Yosh:"Yeah but they all do live on, through their family. Anyway you should get going, I'll see you later."

I heard him walking away, so I took off on my glider. It took awhile to get to the top of the mountain, but I could sense Aang and Zuko on the way up. When I landed the chief approached me and the others got into fighting stances. "What are you doing here?!"

You:"I am here with my two friends, who are each carrying a peace of the sacred flame up here right now."

The chief just stood there. "And do you intend to learn the secret from the masters as well?"

You:"No, I'm not a fire bender, but I do seek to learn from them."

I could hear the guy behind him huff before speaking his mind. "Then you shouldn't have a right to meet them..."

The cheif didn't even turn to face the man. "Quit! You may meet the masters, but be warned, they may very well kill you!"

I nodded. "That's a risk I'm willing to take."

They moved around me when Aang and Zuko arrived. I made my way to the steps that lead up to a platform. I could hear Aang and Zuko talking. "We could turn back now, we've already learned more about fire than we hoped."

Zuko:"No, we're seeing this through to the end, we're going to meet these masters and find out what's so great about them."

Aang:"What if they judge us, and attack us?"

Zuko:"Well we're the fire prince and the avatar, I think we can take these guys in a fight whoever they are. That and I'm sure (y/n) can back us up."

I just shook my head. 'Why does it always have to be a fight?'. "Bright them out!"

Chief:"Chanters."

I heard drums and prayers start up. I walked right behind Aang and Zuko. "What are you doing (y/n)? Your not a firebender."

You:"No, but I am still intrigued, maybe I can learn something else."

Zuko:"As long as you don't try and stop us then be my guest."

I smirked. "Sure, so long as you don't provoke these masters."

I heard him grumble before continuing up the steps. Once we got to the top I could feel the air go deep into two caves, then an announcer spoke up. "Those who wish to meet the masters Ran and Shaw will now present their fire!"

I sat down in the lotus position as Aang and Zuko got into position with their fire in front of them. "Sound the call!!"

I heard a really loud horn. 'Down side to using airbending for sight'. I felt as the caves shook. 'So that's what we're dealing with'. Aang got out of position from the noise. "What's happening...?"

Aang:"...Hu, Zuko, my fire went out."

Zuko:"What do you want me to do?"

Aang:"Give me some of yours."

Aang started trying to reach for Zuko's out stretches hand. "No, just make your own."

Aang:"I can't...rh."

Zuko was having to keep him at bay now. "Get some from one of those warriors, hurry...Stop cheating off me!!"

Aang:"Quit being stingy!!"

As they continued their little argument/struggle I could only facepalm. 'They are so, childish'. I just sighed when I heard the caves shake violently. Out of the right cave a dragon flew out and circled us, moments later another one came from the left cave. "These are the masters."

Aang:"Still think we can take them?"

I chuckled at that. "Shh, I never said that? And stop chuckling."

I could tell the last bit of that comment was directed at me. "Zuko, I think we're supposed to do the dragon dance with them."

Zuko:"What? What about this situation makes you think they want us to dance?"

Aang:"Well, I think they want us to do something, let's just try it."

Zuko:"Mm fine."

I could tell Zuko was not licking this, but it was a good idea. 'Well done Aang, that's putting it together'. I could feel their movements match the dragons, as if one. 'After only trying the dance once they can do it again'. I simply waited for the end. After the dance Ran and Shaw got ready to pass their judgement. "Ahhh!!"

I heard Aang and Zuko scream. 'Everyone has the same reaction the first time around'. I tuned out Zuko and Aang so I could focus on the two master dragon. "Can you hear me?"

Ran:"So you have returned, and without aging."

Shaw:"It seems you have new ally's with you."

You:"Yes I have, life has been strange for me. But I have a request to make."

Shaw:"And what, pray tell, is this request?"

You:"I would like to have some of your fire, he has returned and I need to be read."

They contemplated this request for a bit. "Very well, just as we helped you before, by giving you the warning, we will help you again."

You:"Thank you."

Ran:"However, this will be the last time we can assist you, you must do the rest on your own."

I pulled out my little lantern to let them put their fire in. "We have fused our fire with the flame you collected from the First Fire. Farewell."

Before I knew it they had retreated to their caves. I put the little fire away before anyone noticed. 'Now I just have to ready my self'. We made our way down the steps and to the sun warriors. "Their fire was beautiful, I saw so many colors, colors I've never imagined."

Aang:"Like firebending harmony."

You:"Even I could 'see' the beauty in the flames, I could feel the heat radiating off the different colors."

Chief:"Yes, they judged you, and gave you visions of the meaning of firebending."

Zuko:"I can't believe there are still living dragons, my uncle Iroh said he faced the last dragon and killed it."

Aang:"So your uncle lied."

Chief:"Actually, it wasn't a total lie, Iroh was the last outsider to face the masters. They deemed him worthy, and passed the secret onto him as well."

Zuko:"He must've lied to protect them, so no one else would hunt them."

'So Iroh was able to learn from Ran and Shaw as well? That would explain some of his techniques'. "He let them live another day, just as one should."

Aang:"All this time I thought firebending was destruction, since I hurt Katara I've been too afraid and hesitant, but now I know what it really is; it's energy and life."

Zuko:"Yeah, it's like the sun but inside of you, do you guys realize this?"

I just chuckled at that. "Well, our civilization is called the sun warriors, so yeah."

Zuko:"That's why my firebending was so weak before, because for so many years hunting you was my drive, my purpose. So when I joined you I lost sight of my inner fire, but now I have a new drive, I have to help you defeat my father and restore balance to the world."

They each tested their new fire before the chief approached. "Now that you have learned the secrets and you know about our tribes existence, we have no choice but to imprison you here forever!"

I just laughed. 'Always the same line'. "Just kidding...but seriously don't tell anyone!"

Before we left I went up to the chief. "Hey can you please tell Yosh bye for me?"

Chief:"How do you know my father?"

I smiled we're old friends.

(The great Time skip has fallen, I repeat the great Time skip is down)

We had arrived back at the air temple and everyone was watching Aang and Zuko show off their firebending dance. "With this technique the dragons showed us Zuko and I will be unstoppable."

Everyone clapped once they finished. "Yeah that's a great dance you two learned their."

Zuko:"It's not a dance, it's a firebending form."

Sokka:"We'll just tap dance our way to victory over the Fire Lord."

Zuko:"It's a sacred form that happens to be thousands of years old!"

Katara:"Oh yeah, what's your little form called?"

Zuko:"The dancing dragon."

Mostly everyone started laughing. I turned to Sokka. "Hey Sokka There's a spider on your face!"

Sokka:"Oh no, I'm not falling for that again."

Toph:"Sokka he's not lying it right on your forehead!!"

Sokka:"Ahh get it off get it off!!!"

I just held my sides in laughter. He ended up slamming into Appa and falling down. I leaned down and whispered. "You're the best."

And kissed he lips. I could practically feel her smirk. "I know I am, but your a good number two."

I just smiled.
