Chapter 8
Fiona was beginning to experience labor pains. Her body not only trembled in pain but in fear. It wasn't even the month of October yet. She was not ready to have a child. It seemed too early for her. Fiona was afraid that when she gave birth, her child would not make it. It had been days since she had felt any movement. Something inside of her told her to be worried.
Eileen refused to take Fiona to a nearby hospital. She made sure that Fiona gave birth at home.
Eileen left Fiona in the tub while she began preparing a spot for Fiona to rest until the baby came.
"Mother, take me to a hospital!" Fiona hisses in pain. She was beginning to freeze in her tub. As she had contractions they each became stronger and stronger. As they got stronger Fiona became weaker.
Eileen ignored Fiona and continued making her bed.
After a couple minutes she comes into the bathroom with towels in her hand to help Fiona up.
"We are not leaving." Eileen grabbed Fiona by the arms and helped her up and out of the tub.
Once she was out Fiona hunched over and began to scream.
"You need to breathe. Do not scream." Her mother says, agitated.
Fiona cries silently as her contraction begins to subside. Her mother wraps her into a towel and slowly walks her into her bed. She helps her up then throws covers over her to keep her warm.
"I'll go get some towels. You just stay here, Fiona." She says sternly
Fiona begins to close her eyes but reaches for her mothers hand. She grabs it tight stopping her.
"What's happening?" Fiona says softly
"You are having a baby." She says
"I can't be... something doesn't feel right."
"Just relax. It will all be okay."
"It hasn't moved in days." She says with tears rolling down her face.
Eileen breaks away from Fiona and walks to the door.
"I'll be back."
Eileen leaves the room and closes the door behind her. She rests her back up on the door and covers her face. Eileen knew something wasn't right. She hated to admit it to Fiona, but maybe she was right. She knew that mothers always had to trust their instincts and that only the woman carrying the child knows if something is really wrong. But Eileen was never sympathetic. Her plan was to have Fiona birth her child here. If anything was wrong she also knew that Fiona was powerful. Her powers could do more healing then any doctor in the whole word.

The night was going by fast. Hour by hour Fiona's contractions were closer together and longer. As each one came her body started to deteriorate. Fiona didn't have much left in her. Eileen even began to notice. She became worried on how Fiona would be able to give birth.
Sweat dripped down Fiona's face. Eileen placed a cold towel on her forehead to cool her off. Fiona was beginning to look lifeless.
"Fiona, you need to get through this." She says sternly
"I can't do it any longer." Fiona tosses her head back and forth.
With both hands Eileen puts her hands on the sides of Fiona's head so it doesn't move.
"Listen to me, you are almost there." She yells
Fiona's eyes widen and she cries even more.
"Do you understand?"
Fiona bites her lip then closes her eyes. She nods to her mother and she lets go.

Fiona had been so tired that she had fallen asleep. Every fifteen minutes Eileen would check to make sure she was still conscious. Luckily she was.
As it got closer to midnight Fiona was woken up by the strongest pain yet. Eileen rushed to her side to help her.
"I need to push. Now!" She yells
Eileen nods her head nervously. She pulls up her sleeves then ties back Fiona's golden locks. She retrieves more pillows and sits Fiona up.
Fiona sat up and opened her legs. Eileen threw a sheet over the top of her legs so Fiona wouldn't have to see anything.
Fiona grabbed onto the sheets of the bed and cried in pain.
"Fiona, my love. You need to be strong for me." Eileen says
Fiona shakes her head and throws it back.
Eileen could see that Fiona was already crowning. Within only a short time Fiona would meet her child.
Without instruction, Fiona began to push. Her body told her too, so she did. She let herself breath every few seconds.
"Fiona, you must try harder." Eileen says from the end of the bed.
"I can't do this! I'm not a mother. I can not have this child!" Fiona stopped pushing and closed her legs. She was in denial and too afraid to push anymore.
Eileen forcefully grabs her legs and opens them again. Fiona then realized she couldn't stop her body. She had to continue.
"You need to have this child, now." Her mother says
Then, after a few pushes her child was so close to entering this world.
With one last final push Fiona's child was born and had fallen into Eileen's arms.
Everything started to become hazy. Fiona felt like she was spinning in circles and was unable to focus on the fact that she had just given birth. Her body began releasing more blood than normal.
Eileen was at the end of the bed holding the child who didn't dare to make a single sound.
"It's a girl, Fiona. You have a beautiful baby girl." Eileen struggles to say as she holds her grandchild in her hands.
Eileen began to weep. But not because she was happy, because she was scared knowing she was holding a stillborn child in her arms.
