Chapter 7

As weeks went by Fiona became weaker and weaker. Her pregnancy had made her so sick that she was bedridden. Eileen staying in town helped Fiona tremendously. She wasn't able to live on her own, especially in her condition.

Her whole body was in discomfort from head to toe. She was always dizzy and sick. Eileen wasn't surprised. It ran in then family for witches to be this sick towards the end of their pregnancies.

Fiona wasn't prepared for this at all. Though her mother was a big help, she missed John. As much as she hated him she missed his company and she missed having a husband. Her heart was still healing from the loss.

Fiona tossed and turned in her bed. She was wrapped up in a ball with chills. Something didn't feel right. She felt less movement inside of her and the cramping was becoming unbearable.

Eileen walked into her room with a tray in her hand. On that tray was a cup of soup.

"Fiona, my love. You must eat." She says sternly

Fiona groaned then threw the covers over her head. Eileen sat on the bed and tried to get her to sit up.

"I need to see my doctor... something isn't right, mother." She cries

"No, no, no, Fiona. We cannot take you or this child to the doctors. It is too risky for our kind."

Fiona shook her head continuously. "No!"

"Yes, Fiona! I will not let you leave this house! Especially not the way you are... it's only for the sake of you and your child. The birth will be here."

"The baby hasn't moved... what if something is really wrong. I'm not having a child in my home!" She says nervously

"That's enough! Your baby is fine!"

Eileen was very clear that Fiona would no longer visit her doctor. She did not believe in them. She believed that her powers were enough healing and could do more justice. She was a very old fashion woman and very independent.

Fiona was too weak to argue. She pushed her mothers hand away which held her soup and curled back up into the bed.

"You just rest..." Eileen says soothingly

The days went on and Fiona only became more and more worried. Not only for the baby's health but for her own. She tried multiple times to go to her doctor but Eileen kept her in the house.

After sleeping for days Fiona had grew the slightest bit stronger. She was at least strong enough to get up from bed.

Fiona decided to take a warm bath. It was the most she had moved in weeks, so it was hard for her at first. She undressed herself then slowly stepped into the warm tub.

As she let herself slowly fall into the warm water that soothed her aching body she immediately felt relaxed. The lights were dimmed and candles were surrounding her. Everything that had been on Fiona's mind began to escape leaving her at ease. For so long she had built up so much stress and she was beyond nervous about the arrival of her child. It was only a few short weeks. But as she slowly let herself calm down her pain was starting to become more intense than usual.

Fiona grasped onto the edges of the bathtub and she began breathing heavily. Sharp pains appeared in different parts of her body. She threw her head back and began to scream.

The pain had never been this intense. It felt like someone was stabbing her continuously. The pain was out of her hands.

From the other room Eileen could hear Fiona screaming at the top of her lungs. Her heart began to race. She stopped what she was doing and ran into her bedroom.

It was the first time in ages that Eileen saw Fiona crying. That's when her mother knew something was really wrong. She was a wreck. Her body shook and was very tense. Sweat rolled down her face. In this moment Fiona was beyond scared. She had no control of her body and didn't know what was happening.

Eileen kneeled onto the bathroom floor and grabbed Fiona's hands.

"Mother, something is wrong!" She screams

"Fiona, your child is coming." Eileen smiles.
