Four ✝️
(Josh's pov)
Dear diary,
Hey, you lonely piece of paper, this is Joshua Dun. I haven't written in you since I was 18. Holy shit, that's over 6 years. Anyway, things have changed since. I am Catholic now, and I'm a new person. I'm not that young punk atheist who hated everyone and everything. I have a good life now. I'm dating Tyler Joseph, and we've been together for 3 years. I plan to write more, because writing cures dark thoughts and feelings. Tyler even encouraged me to stay faithful to God and myself. It's the right thing to do. I'll be writing in you more, so expect this diary to become a positive book about happiness and love, and God.
Sincerely,
Joshua Dun
Dated: 12-18-2008
I slapped the diary shut and slumped onto my bed. I laid back, closed my eyes, and smiled. This was the most accomplished thing I've done in a long time, aside from the day I got confirmed.
As I planned to slip into thoughts of dreams and sleep, my phone rang. Picking it up, it was my boyfriend wanting to FaceTime. I pressed the answer button so fast, I almost dropped my phone to the floor.
When Tyler's face appeared, I blushed with excitement, as I always do when he calls me.
"Hey, my love!" I said.
"Hey, my darling." He replied; his smile brightening my phone screen.
"What are you up to right now."
"I just wanted to see you. It feels like an eternity without seeing your beautiful face."
I chuckled.
"Oh, Tyler, we'll see each other soon."
Well, are you doing anything tomorrow?" He asked.
When Tyler asked that question, I stopped and thought for a moment. What would be a good place to have a nice little date with my loving boyfriend?
Immediately, I thought about the little coffee shop nearby my apartment. It was called the One Line Coffee Shop. I recalled accompanying my sisters there, since it was their favorite coffee place. And besides, who doesn't enjoy a small business owned coffee shop?
So, I returned Tyler an answer.
"I have a few chores to do around the house, but after that, how would you like to meet me for coffee?"
Tyler's face lit up through the screen.
"Of course! I would love to!"
I knew my babe would not refuse.
"Where would you like to meet?" He asked.
"At the One Line." I replied. "How does noon sound?"
"Sounds good to me, my love."
I smiled.
"Okay, baby."
I blew him a kiss.
"I love you so much, Tyler. I'm so blessed to have you in my life. I just can't imagine life without you."
"I love you too, Josh. You're my everything."
I wanted to start crying out of joy, but I held it in. After giving him another kiss through the phone, we both said goodnight. I placed my phone on my nightstand, got up from my bed, and went over to light a candle at my altar for nighttime prayers.
Kneeling down, I did the sign of the cross, then began to pray.
"Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this night be at my side, to light and guard and rule and guide. Amen."
Repeating the sign of the cross, I blew out the candle at my altar, then went to lay down in my bed; falling asleep to a blissful dream of being with my Tyler, the love of my life.

The next morning, I woke up bright and early to the beautiful sunshine and remains of fallen snow. It was expected to snow later today, so meeting Tyler early was the best way to start the morning.
After doing my morning prayers, I went over to check my phone to see a message notification on my screen. When I opened the message, a selfie of my Tyler appeared.
catholictyler: good morning to you, my love
I blushed and responded back.
spookyjimdun: hey beautiful, you dressed already?
catholictyler: i was too excited to sleep in, especially on a day im seeing youuu
spookyjimdun: awww honeyy
catholictyler: what are you up to?
spookyjimdun: just have to get some cleaning done around the house, but by noon, i'll be seeing you
catholictyler: and for coffee of course
Being with Tyler for 3 years, coffee dates have become our thing. We try to do it weekly since Sundays are the busiest days of the week. Tyler loved coffee, his favorite being the iced white chocolate mocha.
I typed back.
spookyjimdun: yes baby, i know you love your iced white mochas
catholictyler: i dooo
spookyjimdun: well, you get yourself prepared and i'll see you in a few hours
catholictyler: okay baby, i love you!
spookyjimdun: i love you more😘
catholictyler: no, i love you more😍
Blushing at the cute comment, I finished off the message, put my phone in my pocket, then went downstairs to make a quick breakfast before starting on the chores.
After breakfast, I got started on washing the dishes and putting them away in the dishwasher. Next, I wiped down countertops and stove, then mopped the kitchen floor. Heading into the living room, I took a moment to observe the Christmas tree and decorations, then vacuumed the carpet.
When I finished the chores, the last thing to do was the laundry. Luckily, it was just a light load. I took out the clean clothes from the dryer and took them upstairs to my room. As I folded the clean clothes, my mind was on Tyler and how excited I was to see him.
When I finished, I took a quick shower, got dressed, then headed out the door to go to the One Line.

(Tyler's pov)
At about 11:30, I ran out of my bedroom and went downstairs. My parents were in the kitchen reading the Bible and sharing tea, while my siblings were in the living room watching TV.
Grabbing my jacket from the coat rack, I went into the living room and said goodbye to my siblings. When they saw me, they knew where I was going.
"You meeting with Josh?" Zack asked.
"Yes, how did you know?" I asked.
"I can tell by your mood."
My little brother, Jay, nudged Zack to the side.
"Hey!"
Zack nudged him back.
"You dork!"
Madison looked at the two boys, specifically at Zack.
"Josh is Tyler's best friend. We're also practically best friends with the family too."
"True." I replied.
Zack looked back at me.
"Well, as I always say, you have a great time, bro."
I smiled.
"Thank you."
I left the living room and went into the kitchen. I went over to my parents at the table.
"I'm leaving to meet Josh, but I'll see you guys later."
I kissed my mother on the cheek.
"You have a great time, Tyler." My mother replied. "Please say hello to Josh for us."
"Of course."
"Be careful, Ty." My father said.
I nodded to him.
"Yes, father, I will."
Waving once again to them, I walked out the front door of my house. Getting into my car, I turned on my car radio, which consisted of holiday hymns.
O Little Town of Bethlehem was the first song that played, which fit the mood of downtown Columbus, where I was to meet Josh.
As I drove away, I sang the hymn and pondered to myself of Joshua Dun being my true Christmas blessing.
