Logan never understood Amity. At least not to the full extent anyways. No matter how hard she tried to fit in, to blend into the crowd, she just couldn't. She never backed down from a fight, or the opportunity to make a sarcastic comment. She really tried to shut her mouth and be peaceful or whatever. She did.
Head down. Mouth Closed. Smile. Wave politely. Walk Slowly. Blend. Help the bully who purposely dropped the books, even if he's a total jerk. Resist the urge to comment on the teacher when she's wrong. Don't talk unless necessary. Don't interupt a discussion, even if its offensive to someone. Don't pick fights with the biggest kid in school. Blend.
Easier said than done. When she went home with a black eye, and told her mother that she didn't belong in Amity, she just told her to eat her bread. Like that was going to help.
Today was different. Today was the day she escaped. The day she left Amity for a better faction. She didn't know which one she'd choose, but anything was better than Amity.

---time lapse---

5 minutes until the aptitude test and Logan was a nervous wreak. She fiddled with her long red hair and her yellow skirt.
"Logan Winstead." Someone announced.
Shakily, she rose from her seat and headed toward the door. A girl from the dauntless table grabbed her arm, probably having noticed her mini panic attack.
"Relax. You don't have to go by the test," she reasssured her.

She wasn't very reassured. It seemed like if the test said Logan was supposed to be in Amity, She'd be stuck there forever. As you can imagine, the stakes were high.

The dauntless girl let go of her arm, and Logan walked away toward the man who called her name, only faintly hearing the laughs of other dauntless members who weren't as kind as the first.
