Tama

(A/N: I recommend playing the song above, as this is an emotional chapter.)

~With Aleki; April 16th, 2024~

After some time, I decided to visit my dad and finally get in touch with him after such a long time.

I haven't seen him since I left for Japan, and it would be nice to talk to him and see how he's doing.

I decided to ask Yuria if she wouldn't mind coming with me, and maybe meet one half of the legendary Wild Samoans, and sure enough, she said yes, and I was really happy she did.

When we got to Pensacola, we found my dad's house and it looked the same the last time I saw it.

Yuria: This the house?

Me: It is. Bringing back some memories, but not all of them good.

Yuria: Oh, really?

Me: It mainly had to do with how Leati was the favorite while I was casted aside at the time. We have mended it with Leati, but I haven't seen my father since, 2013 or 2014, when I left for Japan to become a wrestler. I just don't know how he'll react to see me in front of him again.

Yuria: Aleki-chan.

She grabbed my hand and looked at me with a smile, almost encouraging me.

Yuria: Whatever happened is in the past. I sure he will be happy to see you. Just try. For me.

Me: I'll only do it for you.

I then put her hand in my own too and kissed it, letting her know that I was willing to do it for her.

When we got out of the car, I came around and we held hands as we walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell.

After a few seconds, my mother answered.

Mom: Aleki?!

Me: Ei, tina. (Hey, mom.)

We hugged as she teared up before she looked at Yuria, who was smiling as well.

Mom: Who's this?

Me: Mom, Yuria Tauchi, better known as Tam Nakano in wrestling, my girlfriend.

Mom: Oh, nice to meet you!

Yuria: Nice to meet you too!

Mom: Please, come in.

We walked in and I saw dad sitting on the couch, watching TV, but he looked awful. Seeing him like that really screwed me up actually.

Of course, I didn't want to say anything because I could hurt him. No pain, just his feelings, right?

Mom: Sika, Aleki's here.

Sika: What? Aleki? Little Aleki?

Me: I'm here, dad.

He looked at me and when he did, he and I teared up, and when I got close to him, we hugged as my dad started to she some tears as I was on the edge of it.

It was only a few minutes until my dad and I looked at each other and he had the biggest smile on his face.

Then, he looked over my shoulder, and was looking at Yuria, who looked so happy to see us reunited, and I thought I saw a tear coming down her cheek.

Sika: Is she?

Me: It is. Dad, I want to introduce you to my girlfriend, Yuria Tauchi, or better known as Tam Nakano in wrestling.

Sika: Oh wow! So nice to meet you, young lady.

Yuria: Likewise.

They both shook hands as my dad had to say this...

Sika: My God, you are adorable! Probably more so than—

Me: Dad, I know who you're trying to compare, the last one I dated, but it's better if you don't bring it up.

Sika: Right. I apologize. It's just so sad to know how it affected you, but I'm so happy you found a new girlfriend.

Me: I am too. Is it okay if we talked? It's been a long time.

Sika: Of course! Please, have a seat.

Mom: You want anything to drink? A water?

Yuria: Yes please, thank you.

Me: I'd like one too, thanks.

Mom: Coming with the water!

We both sat down as Yuria and I held hands as we talked to my dad.

Being here as he's fighting his disease is something that I'll never forget as we caught up on my birthday.

We discussed how Yuria and I met and how we got together. I let Yuria go into detail about that, out of respect for the etiquette in Japan because I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, which is the last thing I wanna do.

We then started talking about my childhood and how we reflected on the good times while bringing up Yuria's childhood. She had no problem talking about herself, knowing how she wants to be a part of my family, even though she already is by being with me.

Spending time with my dad on my birthday was the best birthday present I ever had, and little did I know, this was the last time I'd ever talk to my father, because the last thing he would tell me, is this...

Sika: Aleki, I didn't like how your career ended, but the impact you made, both in and out of the ring is what made me feel so proud to be your father.

I was just walking with Yuria, holding hands on the beach, and just clearing my head, but what I saw on my phone changed my life forever and not in a good way.

I had gotten a text from Leati, and he said...

Leati: Baby brother, dad's gone.

When I read those two words, getting the news that my own father, Sika Anoa'i, one half of the legendary Wild Samoans had passed away, I thought my entire world crumbled.

I was so stunned and shocked that I couldn't believe it.

Yuria: Aleki-chan. Aleki-chan, what is wrong?

I was still at a loss for words and I couldn't speak because of how shocked I was. Instead of telling her, I showed her the text Leati had sent me.

And when she saw the text, Yuria gasped and covered her mouth and teared up, knowing how sad this happens to be.

Yuria: Oh, Aleki-chan.

She immediately hugged me as I started to let the tears out. My own father had died, and I wasn't there to spend the last few minutes with him.

And I even got another text from Leati, and he said this.

Leati: Take your time flying over to Tampa. There's no need to rush.

Me: Yuria-chan. Let's pack our bags and get flying to Tampa.

Yuria: Are you sure? You do not have to go.

Me: I'm sure. Plus, it'll give me some time to reflect on the memories. I want to be with my family. Can you come with me, just so I'm not alone?

Yuria, being a sweetheart, had her hand on my face, wiped away a tear with her thumb, and said...

Yuria: Of course I will. Let's go.

We walked back to the house, packed our bags, and flew for Tampa and when we finally got there, we were met by Leati and his family, who helped us get into a hotel room.

~June 27th, 2024~

Leati and I made the plans to spend some time with the kids at the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.

When he told me the plan, I was like, "Are you serious? After dad has left the world?" He was sure about it. He wanted Yuria and I to join him too, and I was all for it.

I told Yuria about it all and she was as shocked as I was, but she didn't protest and came with us.

At the hospital, kids were in shock as we had visitor passes for all three of us.

Some kids were excited to see us, but me the most.

Some kids wanted to hug me, but they couldn't because of how sick they are, but Yuria, she had gotten the attention of one young woman, a teen in fact, who broke down into tears.

Yuria noticed, walked over, and hugged the young girl. And after a bit, she released so she could strike up a conversation in the best English she could speak, and luckily enough, I managed to come by and hear this story.

Girl (voice cracking): Tamu, you have no idea how long I've been wanting to meet you. You're my role model.

Yuria: Nani? Why?

Girl (voice cracking): You stopped my eating disorder.

When she "eating disorder", that broke me as Yuria covered her mouth in shock.

Yuria: Oh, kawaii.

She hugged her again and rocked her back and forth as I was really touched seeing this. To know that Yuria touched someone's heart, it really warmed my own.

Like, seriously, I'm getting a little emotional right now.

Then, the girl told her story on how she's seen Yuria as her role model, and how she's shaping up today.

I mean, Yuria kept encouraging her in English and told her to keep going at it.

Girl: Thank you for inspiring me. You have no idea.

Yuria offered a picture and I had to ask if I could take it for her, knowing that she'll have a memory to look back on forever.

Girl: You don't have to take the picture.

Me: Hey, you're the one getting to meet her.

She didn't protest as I took the picture for her, as she was really happy to meet Yuria for the first time in her life.

But I had a better idea.

Me: And how about this, if you want, since you beat your eating disorder, I'm gonna send you and your family to Summerslam.

The girl and Yuria were in disbelief as I said that, but the girl was tearing up once again as I had to make it even better.

Girl: What?

Me: Overcoming that is a big deal, so you and your family deserve to have fun. Have your parents DM me your home address because the Summerslam tickets are on me.

Girl: Alek, thank you.

Me: It's only right to do so. Keep fighting, okay? I'll check up on you sometime soon.

Girl: I will.

The girl hugged me as I only did one arm and not two like I would usually do, but Yuria was really happy to see this.

Soon after visiting the kids, her dad messaged me and shared me their home address as the tickets were going in the mail.

I bought the tickets, as they were sent to me, but I put them in an envelope, put down their real names, and sent them to their home.

I'm not mentioning who the girl and parents' names are and keep them anonymous, out of respect for their privacy, so I'm calling the husband Mark, his wife Mary, and their daughter Lila as actual fake names, because I don't wanna dox their personal information out for the world to see.

A few weeks later, our dad's funeral happened as I danced a traditional dance to celebrate my dad's life and we buried him.

I felt sad about doing it, but I know he's still here in my heart, happy that I'm living life to the fullest.

Yuria, she was tearing up and smiling, just happy that I'm pushing through and having a good time despite it being not. I'm thinking about getting a tattoo in honor of dad, but because of how many on me, with my already Samoan pattern tattoo with with my lotus flower pec and sleeve for Hana, I think I'm gonna do myself a favor and hold off on that, knowing that what I have is enough for the moment.

Even though my dad's gone, I'm still gonna live and honor his memory, but I have Yuria to fix me up as she did, with my Bleeding Heart.

However, a certain itch would come back.
