Day 2
Waiting for Toshiro and Ichigo to return was taking longer than it should've. Toshiro's other form was already asleep in my bed five minutes after Toshiro and Ichigo left. I was starting to get worried when all of a sudden Toshiro appeared in my room. He was covered in cuts, scratches and blood, falling over when he appeared.
"What happened?" I asked, running over. He regained his balance and looked at me.
"Were you getting worried?" he asked. I glared at him.
"Of course I was!" I told him. He started laughing, but then winced in pain.
"Gah!" he said, holding his chest. I looked down and saw a cut across his chest. He fainted and I put him back in his Gigi body. I pulled up a stool and started cleaning his wound. Good thing I had enough supplies in my room for emergencies like this. The wound was deep and was defiantly made from a sword. After I had finished, I sighed, examining my hard work. Toshiro lay in my bed, sleeping more peacefully now. I sat on the stool and lay my head on my arms next to his head. I closed my eyes and smiled.
"Your always getting hurt," I whispered. "But you do it because you care and protect others." I felt a hand on my head and I opened my eyes. I looked into Toshiro's and he smiled.
"You love soccer," he whispered. "You like hanging around with your friends and hanging around with me." I smiled and I closed my eyes again.
"Get some sleep," I told him as I started drifting off to sleep.
When I woke up in the morning, I heard Toshiro still sleeping. I then noticed I had my head on Toshiro's chest. I sat bolt upright and blushed. He opened his eyes and looked up at me.
"Why did you move?" he asked, trying to sit up.
"Don't get up," I said, pushing him back down before his cuts opened up. "You need rest. Your cuts haven't heal completely yet."
"What this?" he asked, pointing at his chest. "It's nothing."
"Nothing?" I asked. "Every wound counts. If you aren't fully healed and go back into battle, you'll get even more hurt. Just stay in bed for the rest of the day."
"But what-"
"Ichigo can get rid of the Hollows," I said. "Just stay in bed."
"Fine," he said. "But I'm telling you this is no big deal." I glared at him, but then sighed.
"I'm going downstairs to get us both something to eat," I said. "Try not to open your cuts again." I opened my door, walk out and shut it behind me. I went downstairs and saw Yuzu had left two bowls of rice and pancakes for Toshiro and I. I grabbed a tray from one of the cupboards and put everything on it. I went back upstairs and was just about to open my door when Ichigo put his hand on my shoulder.
"Where's Toshiro?" he asked.
"In my room," I said. Ichigo reached for my doorknob. "Why are you doing?"
"I need to talk to him about last night," he said.
"Ok," I said and he opened the door. The two of us walked inside and saw Toshiro lying in my bed.
"Who the hell attacked you?" Ichigo asked, looking at Toshiro's wounded chest.
"A masked Soul Reaper," Toshiro answered. "He was defiantly skilled, because he dodged and countered all my attacks. I've been wondering who it was."
"So I was right," I muttered.
"Right about what?" Toshiro asked.
"Right about you getting cut with a sword," I said. "Those cuts couldn't have been done any other way. Especially that cut on your chest."
"Why would he attack a Captain?" Ichigo asked. "That doesn't add up. What the hell is going on around here?"
"Calm down," Toshiro said. "I've already contacted the Soul Society. They're all aware of this attack. Don't worry about me. I'm fine."
"But I am worried about you!" I shouted at him. Just then there was a Hollow alert. Ichigo ran out of my room and down the hall. I shut my door and sighed.
"I know you're worried about me," Toshiro said. "But remember, I'm Captain of Squad Ten. I won't be defeated that easily."
"Do you care about me?" I asked, facing away from him.
"Yeah I care about you," he said. "Can I eat?" I gave him his food and we both started eating. We ate in silence, although there wasn't any tension in the air. Finally, when we were both done, I grabbed my briefcase off the floor. I took a book out and flipped to one of pages not filled out.
"Agrah!" I shouted, putting my hands on my face. "Why does high school have to be so complicating?"
"What are you working on?" Toshiro asked, sitting up and looking at my page.
"Homework," I answered. "I don't know what to do anymore. Why are you sitting up? Lay back down!"
"I'm alright," he said. "Trust me."
"Karin!!" Yuzu called knocking on my door. "Are you done with your dishes?"
"I'll be right down!" I called back. I stacked the dishes and took the tray as I left my room. I went downstairs and saw Yuzu in the kitchen with casual clothes. I gave her the tray and she smiled.
"Is Toshiro ok?" she asked as I turned to leave.
"He's fine," I said, walking back upstairs. I got to my room and saw Toshiro had got changed and was back in bed. He looked at me when I came in.
"What are you going to do today?" he asked.
"Homework," I answered. "I'll take care of your wounds, too, of course."
"Don't worry about me," he said. I sat on the stool next to the bed and sighed.
"But I can't not worry about you," I said. "Now get some rest. The more rest you get, the faster you'll heal." He looked at me, but I got up and went to do my homework.
"Hey," Toshiro said groggily. About three hours had passed and I was on my last assignment. I looked at Toshiro who was propped up on one elbow. "Sorry for taking your bed." I shook my head.
"It's alright," I said. "Did you expect to stay in bed all week?" Toshiro shook his head.
"It's been a year since I got a week off," he said. "I wanted to enjoy it." I glared at him.
"So hanging around with me isn't enjoying?" I growled and he laughed.
"Hanging around you will defiantly be fun," he said. Just then his phone rang. Not a Hollow alert, but a normal ding for a text. He flipped it open and his eyes widened. "Crap," he muttered.
"What?" I asked.
"Looks like Seji is on a rampage again," he answered, flipping his phone closed. I gave him a black stare and he smiled. "Don't worry," he assured me. "He's gotten stronger, maybe Lieutenant or Captain level."
"Really?" I asked.
"Come with me," he said, swinging his legs out of bed.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"Come on," he said, walking towards the door. "I want to go for a walk. There's a place I want to show you." I stared at him, not wanting him to get hurt again.
"Fine," I gave in. "Wait outside while I change." He went outside and I grabbed a shirt and pants from my closet. As I put them on, I thought about what Toshiro wanted to show me. I then stopped, hearing a Hollow roar nearby.
