Day 1 (Part 2)
~Toshiro's pov~
I sighed, sheathing my Zanpakuto. Such easy prey. I wish I could find something more interesting. Maybe while I'm here I'll visit Karin. I looked around.
"This isn't Karakura Town," I muttered to myself. Guess I wasn't going to be able to visit Karin after all.
"Hey!" a voice called behind me. A voice I knew too well.
"Karin," I said, looking at her smiling face.
"What are you doing here in Tokyo?" she asked, walking over to me. "I mean, are you here for work?"
"Well I'm here because I have a week off,"he said. "It's been so quiet lately, I wasn't really needed."
"Were you going to visit me?" Karin asked. I looked at the night sky.
"I was, but you're already here."
"It's been three years. I'm starting university next week." I was a little surprised. Truethfully I was able to visit before, but chose not to. It wasn't because I didn't want to or because I wasn't healed.
It was because I was afraid.
During the past three years I'd seen Ichigo at least 15 times, maybe more. But I hadn't seen Karin. Even though she wasn't a Soul Reaper, she was still able to enter the Soul Society. I never got word of her pressure anywhere, though.
"So Toshiro," Karin and I started walking down the street. "Where's your body?"
"I forgot where I left it," I muttered, shaking my head.
"Damnit Toshiro," Karin sighed. "Whatever. Come to xxxx apartment building on xx street. Yuzu and I have apartment 7."
"Alright," I said. I turned to leave, but Karin grabbed my wrist. I smiled reassuringly at her. "I won't leave without saying goodbye."
"You promise?"
"I promise."
Finding my Gigi wasn't as difficult as I thought. I found him on a swing at the first park I checked. Going back inside my Gigi, I spit out the green pill, carefully placing back in my pocket. I started walking towards the street Karin told me to go to. Finding it, I looked at the apartment buildings lining both sides of the street. Hers was a 6 story building, with 2 apartments on each floor, except the ground one. I walked inside and pressed the elevator up button. It opened immediately, and I stepped on.
Guessing which floor apartment 7 was on, I clicked 4, and the doors started closing.
"Wait!!" a girl called, running inside just before the doors closed. She put her hands on her knees, panting.
"Are you alright, miss?" I asked her.
"I'm fine," she said, looking at me. I stared at her face. I had seen it before.
"Yuzu?" I asked. "Yuzu Kurosaki?"
"How do you know my name?" The elevator doors opened and we both got off.
"I'm Toshiro. Toshiro Hitsugaya."
She gave me a blank stare, but then her eyes lit up. "I remember you!! You and your group of friends came to visit that time three years ago!" I nodded, and we reached the door to apartment 7. "So you must be here to see Karin, am I right?" She nudged my arm. "Such a bold move."
"That's enough!" Karin exclaimed, bursting open the door. "Yuzu, you said you wouldn't be back until tomorrow morning."
"I was able to catch the last train," Yuzu explained. "But look who I found." She pulled me closer and shoved me inside.
"I saw him earlier," Karin said, as we walked inside their two bedroom apartment. "I told him to come. It's been such a long time, I figured we would need to catch up on stuff."
"Oh!" Yuzu looked at her phone. "My friend just texted and wants to go meet up for dinner. Have fun, you two!"
Karin's face flushed as she shut the door. She was obviously in a pissed off mood, but I didn't know what to do.
"Well take a seat," Karin said, going over to the kitchen. "Do you want anything? We have beer if you'd like."
"I'm good right now," I said, taking a seat on the couch. "So you're going to be a university student. You've really grown up."
"And you haven't changed at all," Karin snickered, sitting next to me. I glared at here but she just smiled. "How have things been going? How are others doing? Alright I hope."
"Rangiku is the same as always," I said. "She's a free spirit, but is very reliable. The others are also doing well, going on their own. The number of Hollows in the World of the Living hasn't decreased, so we still have our work cut out for us."
Just then I felt a tap on my shoulder. Karin has fallen asleep, and her head rested on my shoulder. I tried not to move as I reached for the blanket under the table. Draping it over the two of us, I closed my eyes to rest for a bit.
