Chapter 1

"Mama?" Blazekit groaned as her lovely dream slipped away.

"Yes Honeykit?" What about my sleep?!

"Can I go see the elders?"

"Of course."

"Yay! Can Blazekit come too?" Blazekit could feel her mother's face fall. What are you gonna say this time?

"She was saying her stomach was hurting earlier." Blazekit suppressed a laugh.

"Oh. Tell her I said I hope she feels better then." With that, Honeykit left the nursery, Suncloud watching her go. Blazekit knew that Mistyfur and Dawnheart were outside, they would usually had said something by now.

"Get up." Blazekit did as she was told, and looked at her mother's hateful eyes. Her mother shuddered, then looked back at her daughter.

"Go get something to eat. While your at it, fetch me Dawnheart, I'd like to talk to her." Blazekit trudged to the front of the nursery.

"But what if she's with Bu-" Suncloud cut her off.

"She can come for her sister. And if she refuses, tell her it's a robin." Blazekit rolled her eyes but left the nursery. There stood Deerkit and Crowkit, looking at her with wide eyes. Their too young, they'll forget soon. She told herself. She knew it was true though, she almost forgot about her dead brother, Cedarkit for a very long time. She padded quickly to the fresh kill pile, and grabbed a mouse. As she was walking to get Dawnheart, she was stopped by a voice.

"Where are you going little kit?" She turned around, to face her leader. Mouse-dung! She cursed.

"I was bringing this for Suncloud."

"Why, she could've gotten it."

"I offered."

"Fine. What were you still doing out here then?" Blazekit was temporarily stumped.

"Getting Dawnheart to join her." The leader nodded, then hesitantly turned around.

"Blazekit, you've been getting Suncloud a lot of prey lately, is there a reason?" He asked, tilting his head.

"I'm really helpful?" She replied, questioning her answer herself. He sighed, then continued on his way to do whatever he was doing. Blazekit sighed in relief, and left to find Dawnheart again. The queen was sitting on a sun-bathed rock, basking in it's light.

"Dawnheart, mother wants to see you." The kit said through the small fluff of the mouse.

Dawnheart smiled. "I'm busy Blazekit, I'll talk to her later."

"She said it's a robin." Dawnheart's blue eyes widened.

"Excuse me?"

"Is there something wrong?"

"Yes if its a robin. Tell her I'll be there shortly, and Blazekit, if you want, when I have my kits, I could feed you properly." Blazekit chuckled.

"I'll tell her, and thanks but no. I'm good." Dawnheart was a better mother to Blazekit then Suncloud, even though she didn't have any kits for herself. Blazekit padded back to the nursery and told her mother what Dawnheart had said, then slipped out of the nursery to eat her meal. As she was about to take a bite, Crowkit appeared in front of her.

"What are you eating?" Blazekit rolled her eyes.

"A mouse birdbrain."

"I meant why are you eating it."

"I'm hungry."

"Why doesn't Suncloud feed you?"

"..." Blazekit didn't know what to say. She couldn't tell him that her mother refused to feed her, nor could she tell him about the hatred that her mother had for her. In fact, when she became an apprentice and learned how to fight, she'd run away and become a rogue. That way, she wouldn't have a perfect sister, a hateful mother, dead-like father. She'd be all alone, safe...mostly, and happy.

"Doesn't she feed you Blazekit? I mean, I've seen her feed Honeykit." Blazekit shook her head then blinked.

"Honeykit, Honeykit, Honeykit. No one ever thinks of dear old Blazekit...except you I guess. Look, Honeykit did this! Look! Honeykit did that! Then me, Blazekit why can't you be more like your sister? Blazekit, follow Honeykit's example, she knows what she's doing!" Blazekit cleared her throat at her sudden outburst. Crowkit looked at her with sympathy.

"I-I..." He stumbled trying to fit his mess of a mind into words. Blazekit sighed, finishing her mouse.

"You uh, you should go Crowkit, I bet Deerkit wants to rip Patchkit's fur out by now." She chuckled, getting up from her spot. Crowkit nodded blankly. "Oh, okay." He smiled sadly, before leaving Blazekit alone with her thoughts. She would surely get punished for letting all that slip. Crowkit was moons younger than her, he most likely wouldn't know better and consult Suncloud...then what?

Blazekit laid back down and played her head in her paws. Whatever was going to happen, she wouldn't be ready for, though she still had a shred of hope that Crowkit wouldn't say anything. She prayed to Starclan that the other kit would keep his muzzle shut. She closed her eyes, it wouldn't hurt to take a quick nap. She thought, drifting off to sleep.
