Chapter 35

Blaze was impatient with all this training but was glad for the wait. Both her sisters had failed and died trying to kill Samael one last time. The only thing left of them was the book Mist had died writing to warn her.

Blaze sighed and sat up, she had been given a break for the day and was exhausted. Giving her eye a rub, she swung her legs over the side of the hammock and dropped down onto the old dusty clay floor.

She smiled fondly, moving her hand back down to her side and her black hair guarding her eyes from the light of the magma outside.

The tent she stood in now was no doubt on its last leg and she would be very sad to see it eventually fall. Blaze sighed again and walked outside.

When she passed the tarps covering the entrance, her dress curled tighter around her and shortened to the middle of her thigh. When it finished changing Blaze walked to the edge of the barracks and sat down, dangling her legs over the edge.

She could see his throne from here like always. It sort of mocked her in a way. Like a calling that she needed to fight him, but she didn't understand why.

Now that Blaze didn't have people thinking for her like Mist or Basha, she couldn't help but wonder why everyone wanted to kill him. Yes it was true he was a harsh and cruel ruler, but they were the demons. Being hateful and greedy was part of their blood.

Blaze had never really thought much about this but she was starting to doubt if she should actually kill Samael, her father. The only family she had beside Talim Inasa and Gar.

Blaze sighed and looked over the magma. She could see a few children in rags and worn clothing skipping around it. If she were to lead, the demons may have hope of having better lives, and maybe then they wouldn't have such dark hearts.

Caught up in her thoughts and sight-seeing, Blaze failed to hear the foot-falling from behind her. Gar sat down next to her and pulled her close. She was caught off guard and look up at him in question.

"Why so affectionate?" Blaze asked with a smirk. Gar rolled his ruby eyes and chuckled.

"Well I don't want to neglect you. I know you need rest and you're probably thinking things over but I'm loosing my mind sitting inside and listening to Talim and Inasa argue. They're perfect for each other." Gar mumbled, his eyes moving over to stare at Samael's vacant throne. Blaze furrowed her eyebrows and gave him a confused look.

"You think your brother finally found someone who can deal with him?" Blaze asked. Gar chuckled.

"Not deal with him, but love him in the least." Gar said, glancing down at her, his crooked horn lightly touching hers. Blaze smiled at him.

"You never did tell us how this happened." Blaze said, meaning his crooked horn. Gar reached up and ran his fingers over it.

"Its been like that a long time, probably while you were asleep in that chamber thing. Could have messed it up in a sparing accident and forgot about it..." Gar said, trying to think back. Blaze chuckled and leaned on him to stare out at the beauty of Hell.

"Well, we may never know. Tomorrow I'll be ready to train some more and hopefully get this Samael battle done with..."
