Chapter 2

Blaze saw a demon run over as she and the guard walked in.

"Samael orders new clothes for the runt. She's apparently his daughter." He said. Blaze growled at him.

"Silence. What is her name?" The demon asked.

"Blaze." Blaze interrupted. The demoness nodded to the little girl and flicked her tail at the guard. He left immediately when her vicious green gaze looked at him.

"My name is Katerin, Samael must have told you that already though." She said, guiding her over to a closet.

"He did." Blaze confirmed. Katerin nodded and opened up the closet and started searching through it.

"I have something you can have, blood child. It was a dress my mother wanted me to have, but I never wore it and later found out when I was to big to wear it that it would grow with me. It'll fit you just fine. It also has some magic on it so it changes the type of dress at your command." Katerin explained. Blaze watched as she pulled out a little black dress that did look like it could fit her.

"Are you sure it grows?" Blaze asked, she never liked magical items, her mother taught her to be wary of them.

"Do you question my mother? She was the original fitter. Of course I'm sure, she had trained in magic for many thousands of years." Katerin answered and shoved the dress into Blazes hands.

"Go change behind that wall." Katerin instructed, pointing at a opening in the wall with her tail.

"It's fine, go blood child." Katerin said again. Blaze took the dress and went to the opening and saw another wall to give her privacy. She slipped out of her leather dress and pulled on the new one. She was surprised when the bottom of it glowed red then stopped.

She saw at the bottom there now was a line of red. Blaze grabbed her old dress and walked out to see Katerin waiting.

"We can burn that old one, no need to leave it lying about." Katerin said, snatching the garment away.

"Why not give it to another child?" Blaze asked. Katerin turned on her.

"We fight in a world to survive, Blaze. Those who cannot earn their own things or work to find them like the rest of us do not deserve to be given hand outs." Katerin hissed. Blaze nodded and looked at the ground, her black hair falling over her shoulders.

"Might have your hair cut as well..." Katerin muttered as she tossed the bundle into a fire pit. Blaze looked up.

"Do not cut my hair." Blaze said. Katerin sighed.

"Fine, let you look ragged in the barracks. See if I care." She said and walked out the back door.

"Come on blood child." She called. Blaze walked after her and grabbed a necklace she saw on the table. 'I can sell it or trade it if I need to where I'm going.' Blaze thought to herself.
