Rowankit sat just outside the nursery, whining to Dawnblaze. "Why can't I go in?"
"I've told you a million times," Dawnblaze meowed tersely. "Only Bramblefrost, Pebblesplash and Snowstep are in there right now."

"But Stonepaw went in there!" Rowankit pouted.
"Yes, but he's Pebblesplash's apprentice," Dawnblaze sighed.
Stonepaw gets to do all the fun stuff,  Rowankit thought gloomily. Suddenly, the bramble screen parted and a white and pale grey she-cat came through, followed by a smaller grey tom.

Pebblespash! Rowankit thought. And... Stonepaw!
"Stonepaw! I haven't seen you in ages!" Rowankit exclaimed.
"Hey! Rowankit! How are you?" Stonepaw meowed, shocked.

"I'm great thanks! How is it being an apprentice?"
"It's really good. You should look forward to it."
"Believe me, I do!"

Pebblesplash stepped between Rowankit and Stonepaw. "Aren't there more important matters and hand right now than chit-chat?" The medicine cat said dryly. "Stonepaw, some chervil, please. We'll go deal with this bellyache Foxfang's been complaining about."

Well you didn't have to be so mean about it. Rowankit didn't dare speak his thought aloud. "Sorry Pebblesplash, I'll get it right away. Bye, Rowankit!" Stonepaw scampered off towards the medicine cat den.
"What about the kits!" Dawnblaze exclaimed.

Oh! I completely forgot about Snowstep's kits! Rowankit realised. "They're fine," Pebblesplash meowed, resulting in a massive sigh of relief from Dawnblaze. "Three toms and a beautiful she-cat."
"Oh, that's brilliant," Dawnblaze meowed. "Rowankit, Hazelkit, Briarkit, you can go in now."
"YES!"

Rowankit scrambled into the nursery, where he found Bramblefrost crouched over Snowstep, who was wrapped around four tiny, crying bundles of fur.
"They're so cute!" Briarkit whispered in one of Rowankit's ears.
"Did we ever look like that?", Hazelkit mewed in the other.
Rowankit looked up at Bramblefrost. "What are their names?" He asked, staring at the newborn kits.

"Swiftkit, Bumblekit, Bravekit and -"
"Sagekit," Snowstep finished.
"They're beautiful" Dawnblaze meowed, she had just come in. 
"Thank you," Snowstep meowed affectionately.

A/N: Sorry the storyline's moving kinda slowly (Rowankit will be apprenticed soon), and sorry about the slow update. Just spent a week camping! 😄😄
