Alternate Ending
I wrote this because I wanted to😊
For the record... I have no medical knowledge whatsoever so please don't judge!!
"I've already forgiven you... brother."
Wally sighed deeply, a glimpse of a smile crossed his face.
Dick tried to smile back as the grip on his hand tightened but then a look of pure agony crossed his face and he started thrashing his head around, groaning loudly.
Wally immediately sped out of the room, presumably to find a nurse or doctor, as Batman took his place and held his son's face in his hands.
"Nightwing! Nightwing what's wrong?!"
No response except for his agonizing groans. His eyes remained tightly shut.
"Nightwing... Dick! Tell me what's wrong!"
After hearing his real name he slowly opened his eyes. They were fully dilated from pain, like a terrified cat.
"Hurts... Can't breathe..."
Dick clutched his chest and started shaking.
"S-something's w-wrong... ugh..."
After he finished that last word his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he slumped against his mentor's touch.
"Dick!!" yelled Batman. If Bruce wasn't wearing his cowl he would surely be hyperventilating.
Wally sped into the room and doctors followed quickly, pushing past everyone not caring if they wore super hero uniforms. The only thing that mattered was the patient.
Wally leaned into the wall and would have slumped over if Connor hadn't caught him.
"Wally you need food. You are about to pass out." said Kaldur.
If any normal person heard that they would think he's crazy. Thinking about food when your friend is in critical condition!
But of course, for speedsters it was much more serious.
Wally shook his head furiously and started to weakly struggle against Connor when he saw one of the doctors tear off Dick's oxygen mask.
"What are you doing?!" he shouted.
"That mask was doing nothing for him!" the doctor shouted back as another doctor readied equipment that they all dreaded to see.
"Clear!!" he shouted.
Dick's body jolted from the electricity.
But with no response.
"Clear!!" he shouted again.
Nothing.
"Dammit!" growled the doctor in frustration. "Again! Clear!"
Another jolt ran through Dick and this time they got a response from the heart monitor. It was slow and weak but its better than still and silent.
The first doctor turned Dick's head to face him.
"Nightwing... can you hear me?"
Nothing.
The doctors looked at each other then announced they were taking him to get an MRI and other tests done. After that he was to be taken to the ICU.
But Batman grabbed a doctor's arm and gave him a look that would make the Joker keel over.
"What. Happened?" he hissed.
The doctor gulped and started to sweat.
"We're not sure right now what caused it but he just had a heart attack."
Shocked, Batman let go of the doctor and watched in silence as they wheeled his son away.
He only came to his senses after hearing a slight sniffle.
He turned to see Tim and Barbara silently trying to comfort each other. The Bat sighed and gently pushed them out the door. After giving a look to the team they quickly followed too though still in shock.
They ended up in a secluded waiting room. Artemis finally got Wally to eat and now nearly the whole vending machine was cleaned out.
After what seemed like years a doctor finally came into the room.
"It was nothing physical that caused his heart attack..."
Everyone had bated breath as they waited for the doctor to finish. Why did they always make people wait in suspense...
"His brain activity shows insane amounts of stress over quite a long period of time. It seemed he calmed down only seconds before the attack happened. That sudden change of emotions and stress quite literally caused his heart to panic."
Wally buried his face in his hands and slumped into the back of the couch, mentally cursing himself out. Artemis subconsciously stroked his hair, something she learned that usually calms him down.
"Although he is currently in ICU he should be waking up soon. When he does you can see him. But only family and it can only be one at a time. Who is going first?"
Batman steps forward. Then its Tim. Then Barbara.
The doctor quickly turned away.
"Fine. Then lets go--"
Connor quickly stands Wally up and calls to the doctor.
"This guy is going too!"
The doctor turns and raises an eyebrow.
"I believe I said family only. What relation does Kid Flash have to Nightwing?"
Wally rubs his arm where bruises are surely going to form and somewhat glares at the doctor.
"We're brothers."
The doctor inwardly rolls his eyes. He really didn't have time for this and he could obviously see there was no relation. Not by blood anyways.
He was about to say no but the feeling of the Batman breathing down his neck changed his mind very quickly.
"Alright. Follow me then."
They traveled down a few hallways until things became more and more white and silent. Finally, they stopped in front of a door. The nametag said Richard Grayson.
The doctor refused to look at Batman as he practically felt the bat-glare burn through his back.
"I'm sorry but you must know it wasn't exactly unavoidable. Now please be quiet. He needs his rest."
Batman went in first. Then Tim. Then Barbara.
Wally was practically falling asleep by the time it was his turn and he nearly jumped out of his skin when Tim hit him upside the head.
"Tapping you didn't work." he said with a small smirk.
Wally just rolled eyes and quietly entered the room.
The walls seemed to be a pale blue although the lighting was so dim he wasn't certain. In fact the only light that seemed to be on was a single bedside lamp that gently illuminated Dick's face.
Wally took a seat beside his bed and looked him over.
His hair was a mess (more than usual) and different IVs were sticking out of his arms. His chest was slightly exposed as different cords came out. Presumably to monitor his heart activity.
His pulse, respiration, and blood pressure were being displayed on a monitor to be watched as well.
There wasn't an oxygen mask over his face anymore. Instead, there were just two small tubes in his nose to supply extra oxygen.
His eyes were closed and he seemed so peaceful. As if... no! He was just sleeping...
Wally watched the gentle rise and fall of his best friend's chest for a moment before closing his own eyes.
I was so terrible to him... how could he forgive me so easily? At the very least he should be wanting to kick my ass into the next century! Oh Dick... I'm so sorry...
"Wa... Wally"
Wally eyes snapped open at the mention of his name. He looked down at Dick's face and saw two baby blue eyes, half lidded, squinting up at him. It seemed as if he couldn't quite see clearly.
Dick sighs as if in defeat and starts to close his eyes once more until Wally grabs his hand.
"Dick... its me. Its Wally. I'm here buddy..."
Dick opens his eyes once again and this time it seems as if he can actually see.
"Oh... h-hey KF..."
Dick actually managed a weak smile.
Wally smiled back.
"Hey bud... need me to call a doctor?"
Dick slowly closed his eyes then opened them once again.
"Nah... I just want to rest..."
Wally swallowed a lump and nodded his head.
"Ok..."
They sat in silence for awhile until Wally decided enough was enough.
"Dick... why did you do it?"
"Hmm?"
"I mean... why did you jump? Did I... cause you to do it?"
"..."
Wally swallowed slowly.
"Dick?"
Dick sighed slowly and shook his head.
"It wasn't just that that made me feel the need to jump. It was everything else... Bludhaven, the team, the mission... Just everything. But... I didn't actually jump..."
Wally's eyes went wide with surprise and his grip on Dick's hand loosened.
"What... what do you mean?"
"I... I was going to jump. I was ready. But looking down from the building... it just felt wrong. Like I shouldn't even try..."
Wally's eyes narrowed.
"So... what happened?"
Dick's eyes slightly lowered and a tear fell.
"Before I turned away I... started started to have flashbacks of my parents' deaths. Them falling and their screams... I got disoriented and dizzy. I guess that's when I started to fall..."
More tears started to fall and Wally carefully took his little brother into a much needed hug.

With the Bat Clan:
"Doctor... how long will he have to be here?" asked Bats.
The doctor sighed and rubbed his temples.
"Aside from the heart attack... there are still his broken ribs, fractured wrist, and internal bleeding to deal with. Until we get that bleeding taken care of... he's not going to be able to leave the ICU. Let alone the hospital itself."
Batman let out a hiss and both younger Bats seemed equally upset.
"And how long will that be?" asked Barbara, through gritted teeth.
The doctor slightly grimaced.
"At least six months..."
All three of them let out an aggravated sigh.
The doctor jumped back a little, right as Wally came out. Aside from a few drying tears, nothing seemed to have happened.
"I heard... and he knows too."
He gestures to Dick's room.
"And he is not happy about it."
Batman pushed his way through saying "I'll go talk to him."
And then there was an angry shout, cursing out the whole hospital.

8 months later...
Dick was finally allowed out of the hospital even though it was two months after the estimated time, thanks to complications involving the bleeding.
But in the end he managed to pull through alright.
He needed support walking sometimes but Wally, any of the Bats, and the JL and YJ teams were eager to help.
A few years passed and Nightwing has moved on. He has mostly been with the Titans or at Bludhaven but he would also swing around to help with the new YJ team's training or help out Batman and Robin in Gotham.
But his favorite past time, by far, was playing with Artemis and Wally's son.
His godson, Richard John West.
Fin
*sigh* I just loved this so much...
