Duetting Fight
Blaine and Kurt have been dating for about 4 months and Blaine and just transferred from Dalton to McKinley. The New Directions don't know about their relationship. But will that change when Mr. Schue sets the week's assignment as 'Fights'?
-_-_-
"Why did you write 'fights' on the board?" Finn pointed towards the white board which Mr. Schue had just been writing on.
"Because this week's assignment is to get into partners, pick a song and battle!" Mr. Schue grinned.
"We're going to battle? In song?" Mike asked in disbelief.
"Yes! Now get into pairs!"
"Hey Kurt can w-" Mercedes stood up and walked over to Kurt but stopped when she saw Kurt immediately turn to the boy next to him.
"We should do 'Cooler Than Me'"
"'Cooler Than Me!'" Both boys said at the same time before bursting into fits of giggles.
"Oh, hey Mercedes! What's up?" Kurt smiled when his laughter died down and he turned to face his best friend.
"I thought we were going to go together." She pouted.
"Oh, sorry but I'm going with Blaine." Kurt smiled warmly but the smile faded when Mercedes stormed away.
-_-_-
"We have a song, Mr. Schue!" Kurt jumped up and grabbed Blaine's hand, pulling him towards the auditorium stage. Mercedes narrowed her eyes at this contact, why would two nothing-more-than-friends boys hold hands?
"Great!" Their teacher clapped.
"Okay! We're doing 'Cooler Than Me'!" Blaine grinned.
"Interesting choice boys." Mr. Schue replied happily.
Blaine began singing after the opening instrumental had played.
If I could write you a song
And make you fall in love
I would already have you up under my arm.
Blaine grinned and threw his arm over Kurt's shoulder.
I used up all of my tricks,
I hope that you like this.
But you probably won't.
You think you're cooler than me.
Kurt glared at him for a moment before opening his mouth to sing.
You got designer shades,
Just to hide your face
Kurt ducked out of Blaine's grasp and slipped on a pair of sunglasses.
And you wear them around like you're cooler than me.
And you never say "Hey"
Or "Remember my name?"
And it's probably 'cause you think you're cooler than me.
Blaine walked up to Kurt and waved his hand in front of the chestnut haired boy's face.
You got your high brow,
Shoes on your feet,
And you wear them around
Like they ain't shit.
But you don't know the way that you look,
When your steps make that much noise.
Blaine strutted around in a circle, placing his foot on the ground to punctuate each word.
Kurt put his finger to his lips.
Shh I got you all figured out,
You need everyone's eyes just to feel seen.
He spun around to emphasise the 'everyone'.
Behind your make-up nobody knows who you even are
Who do you think that you are?
Kurt prodded Blaine's chest before Kurt began to sing again.
If I could write you a song
And make you fall in love
Kurt made a heart shape with his hands.
I would already have you up under my arm.
I used up all of my tricks,
I hope that you like this.
But you probably won't.
You think you're cooler than me.
Blaine spun around and stole the sunglasses off of Kurt's face and dramatically inspected them before slipping them on.
You got designer shades
Just to hide your face
And you wear them around like you're cooler than me.
And you never say "Hey"
Or "Remember my name?"
It's probably 'cause you think you're cooler than me.
You got your high brow,
Switch in your walk,
Blaine made a little skip as he sang the word 'switch'.
And you don't even look when you pass by.
But you don't know the way that you look
When your steps make that much noise.
He put his finger to his lips, mimicking Kurt's previous actions.
Shh.
Both boys began to sing together, their voices mixing beautifully.
I got you all figured out,
You need everyone's eyes just to feel seen.
Behind your make-up nobody knows who you even are
Who do you think that you are?
Kurt sang the lead as Blaine took the echo, glaring playfully at each other.
'Cause it sure seems ('cause it sure seems)
Kurt started walking around the stage backwards, Blaine following him as they continued to sing.
You got no doubts (that you got no doubts)
But we all see (we all see)
You got your head in the clouds
Kurt held the end note for a bit longer as Blaine went on the the next verse and began walking circles around Kurt.
If I could write you a song
And make you fall in love
I would already have you up under my arm.
I used up all of my tricks,
I hope that you like this.
But you probably won't.
You think you're cooler than me.
Blaine and Kurt stood next to each other at the front of the stage as they sang the next bit.
You got designer shades,
Just to hide your face
Kurt leaned over and stole the sunglasses from Blaine before slipping them over his own eyes.
And you wear them around like you're cooler than me.
And you never say "Hey"
Kurt waved as he sang 'Hey' on his own.
Or "Remember my name?"
Blaine shrugged when he sang 'Remember my name' by himself.
It's probably 'cause you think you're cooler than me.
The boys finished the song as they turned to face each other, staring deeply into their eyes.
"That was amazing boys!" Mr. Schue shouted while everyone applauded the performance politely.
"Mr. Schue," Rachel raised her hand, "while I think that was a stunning performance I do think it's a little bit odd that they both seem so comfortable around each other even though Blaine only transferred last week."
"Well two people can get to know each other very well in a week." Blaine defended and Kurt just rolled his eyes.
"No they can't, Blaine. Don't be stupid." Kurt wave his hand dismissively, "We knew each other before Blaine moved to McKinley." Before anyone could make a comment, Kurt was strutting off the stage.
"You think I'm stupid?" Blaine said in mock hurt as he followed Kurt down the stage stairs.
"No, I think you're very intelligent." Kurt whispered into Blaine's ear once they had sat back down in their seats. He gave Blaine's earlobe a quick nibble before he turned back to face Mr. Schue as if the whole room hadn't just witnessed that.
"Well," Mr. Schue coughed awkwardly, "Does anyone else have a song prepared?"
Everyone, minus the two boys at the back, snapped their head around when they heard a quiet moan.
"Everything okay, Blaine?" Mercedes smirked, she had an idea what was going on.
"Just peachy." Blaine replied before he dropped his head backward and groaned.
"You sure?" Finn frowned worriedly at his new friend and his step-brother who was trying to stifle his laughter.
"Yup." Blaine tried to sound convincing but instead it just came out wavering and shaky. Blaine decided that he'd have to punish Kurt, so he growled and leaned over to capture Kurt's lips in a rough, tongue filled kiss.
"Boys?" Mr. Schue frowned as both boys tore apart before Kurt suddenly stood up, took Blaine's hand in his and started walking towards the exit.
"This is my boyfriend." Kurt shouted across the auditorium before he ducked out of the door, pulling Blaine behind him.
The song was 'Cooler Than Me'.
