Chapter 7

Ugh! Damn them! Giving her a choice like this, when they know she doesn't want to be associated with the mob! Laurel knocked over something glass, which broke.

She was staring at the necklace that they gave her when she heard a voice behind her, "Someone's pissed."

It was Sara, with an amused look on her face.

"What's that?" Sara asked looking at the necklace.

"Oh, a choice," Laurel said, not wanting to tell her sister what it really was.

"Stop speaking in riddles, now, what is it?" Sara asked, getting a little pissed off.

"It technically is a choice, it's a choice from Malcolm and Slade. They want me to like, date them," Laurel said, trailing off.

"Oh my God, you aren't actually thinking about it, are you?" Sara said.

"So I might be considering it," Laurel said.

"Why!" Sara yelled.

"Keep your voice down, and as for why, I think, maybe I like them," Laurel mumbled.

"Oh," Sara paused and said, "Come on."

"Where are we going?" Laurel asked walking out with her.

"Out," Sara said, not looking at her.

"Are we allowed to go?" Laurel asked.

"I have no idea," Sara said.

"Well, that's reassuring," Laurel muttered.

As they walked towards the exit, Sara ran right into Frost.

"Sorry," Sara said.

"That's okay, are you two trying to leave, cause you can't unless someone's with you," Frost said.

"Damn," Sara said.

"I'll go with you," Frost said.

"Don't you hate us?" Laurel said.

"No, your sister, yeah, but only because she berated me for an hour about my sterilization techniques," Frost said. "Let's go!"

They ended up at a bar. Sara ordered two shots.

"Oh, I don't want one," Laurel said.

Sara laughed, drank both of them, and said, "Yeah, they weren't for you."

"Great," Laurel said, then she ordered her own drink.

"So, why did you want to come here," Frost said.

"You won't believe what Laurel's considering," Sara said.

"What?" Frost said.

"She might actually date Slade, and Malcolm," Sara said.

"Oh, yeah, I heard they were going after someone. That makes it sound a lot worse than it actually is," Frost said.

"Is dating more than one person like a mob thing?" Laurel asked.

"It wasn't uncommon for more than one man to go after a girl, so they compromised, it turned into a common thing a few years ago," Frost said.

"Okay, well I've never been in a relationship like that, I don't know how it would work, but that doesn't really matter, what matters is would it be a good relationship," Laurel said.

"They did give her like a bribe," Sara said.

"What did they give her?" Frost asked.

"This necklace," Sara said, pulling it out.

"When did you find time to take that?" Laurel muttered.

"This isn't nessicarily a bribe, it's more to show that she's queen of the mob, and you wouldn't be able to hide it," Frost said.

"Oh, okay, I don't really understand, but next question," Laurel said.

"The next question is, do you really like them?" Sara said.

"I think I do," Laurel said.

"Well, that's good," Frost said.

"Well, that depends have they treated her differently than other people?" Sara asked.

"Not really, I mean, they do let her call them by their first names, but other than that, not really," Frost said.

"Okay, so that's settled, what about your career, if people find out it will be ruined," Sara said.

"Well, it might be ruined anyway, cause we have to stay here for 5 months to a year, so I'll definitely be fired," Laurel said.

"Oh, yeah, Veronica was pissed," Sara said.

"Mmm, yeah she raved for like an hour," Laurel said.

"Okay, so what about your moral, whatever, you don't agree with being associated with the mob, right?" Sara said.

"What else am I to do, Sara! Once you're associated with the mob, there's no out!" Laurel said, whining a bit.

"Well, I say don't do it, but my judgement is clouded by my absolute hate for the mob, so I don't really know what you should do," Sara said.

"You are so unhelpful!" Laurel said.

"Okay, that's enough, come on, time to go, I don't want to get in trouble," Frost said.

"You think you would get in trouble for this," Sara said.

"Maybe, I'll be safe and take you back anyway," Frost said.

"So, Laurel, are you going to wear the necklace?" Sara asked.

"Yeah, I am," Laurel said, putting it on.
