Chapter 24
Laurel was looking in awe at the inside of the Merlyn Mansion.
"Wow, is this where you used to live," Laurel said.
"Yeah, it's amazing isn't it?" Malcolm said.
"Yeah, I haven't been here in forever, they seem thoroughly unimpressed though," Thea said, pointing to Eva and Juliana, who were sitting on the ground talking.
"Why are they on the ground?" Andrea said.
"Who knows," Lena said.
"Come on, I'll show you two where you can stay," Malcolm said to Andrea and Juliana.
"Alright, thank you, Juliana come on," Andrea said.
"I'm doing this for her, not you, if I had an option, you would be dead, but I'm not going to kill my daughter's mother," Malcolm whispered, to Andrea, not loud enough that Juliana could hear.
Andrea nodded, and one of the maids showed her to her room.
"Okay, our room is upstairs, top floor," Malcolm said to Laurel.
"Okay, I'll head up there in a second," Laurel said.
Everyone was looking for where they would get settled, Merlyns and family were on the top floor.
~
Laurel was in the bedroom, on the bed, waiting for Malcolm and Slade.
They came in and she kissed both of them, before saying, "I'm going to go to bed, I'm tired and have a headache."
"Wait, didn't you get hit in the head, you might have a concussion if you still have a headache, Slade can you go get Frost," Malcolm said.
Slade left to go get Frost and Laurel said, "You two are never going to let me out of your sights now, are you?"
"Probably not," Malcolm said.
"Great," Laurel muttered.
"Laurel, we just want you to be safe," Malcolm said.
"I know," Laurel sighed.
Slade came back with Frost in tow.
"So what's wrong?" Frost asked, going into doctor mode.
"I was hit in the head, knocked out, and now I still have a headache," Laurel said.
"Why didn't you see me sooner," Frost said. "Your sister is a doctor, you should know how serious this is."
Frost checked Laurel out and said, "Okay, you definitely have a concussion, I would suggest rest, And pain medicine for the headache."
"Thanks," Laurel said.
"No problem, I actually like you," Frost said.
"Could have fooled me," Laurel said.
"No I actually do, it's your sister I don't like," Frost said.
"Thank you Caitlin," Malcolm said, basically telling her to get out.
"See you Laurel," Frost said as she walked out.
"Bye," Laurel said, before turning to Malcolm and Slade. "Well, this sucks, I wanted to actually be able to do stuff."
"Well, one of us will be with you at all times, so don't worry, and don't get up for midnight snacks," Slade said.
"Is this because you don't trust the guards?" Laurel asked.
"Yes," Malcolm said.
"Okay, fine, who's staying with me now?" Laurel asked.
"Slade is, I have to go help with the whole moving bases thing, ugh help," Malcolm said, groaning.
"Sorry, I can't," Laurel said.
"Yeah, I know," Malcolm kissed the top of her head, before heading out.
~
Elizabeth was looking over papers, looking for anything odd, the could connect Laurel to the mob.
Then, a package fell on her desk. It had her name on it. She opened it, and saw pictures, and papers, she looked at one of the pictures. It was Laurel, in a restaurant with Malcolm Merlyn, and Slade Wilson.
"Angel! I need some help of here, help me go through these, this could help us build a case," Elizabeth said.
~
"This is hell, isn't it, I've died, and I'm being punished," Slade said, as the girls went over wedding details with Laurel.
"You and Malcolm are the ones who insisted you stay with me, it's not like we're bothering you two yet," Laurel said.
"Yet?" Slade said.
Laurel turned around to look at more magazines.
"No, Laurel this is improtant, did you say yet?" Slade said.
The girls were all giggling at his distress, when a guard came in and said, "This is for Ms. Lance, we opened it, it's just a letter."
"Open it again," Slade said.
He did and it was just a letter, when he was done he handed it to Laurel.
"Who's it from?" Sara asked.
"My friend Elizabeth," Laurel said.
Dear Laurel
I'm disappointed. I was hoping you wouldn't lie to me.
We have evidence, that you're working with the mob, that you're on your way to becoming Queen of the mob.
If they're threatening you, I can get you out. But you have to come to me.
My boss made me put out a warrant for you, I'm sorry. I'm just trying to do my job, and serve my country.
Laurel, I know you, this is not you.
It wasn't hard to figure out where you are, so be careful.
Regards,
Elizabeth
"Uh oh."
