Chapter 19
Laurel was waiting for Lena, it was just after James decided to send her down to Star city for protection. She was waiting with Slade and Malcolm.
"I'm bored," Laurel said.
"Really?" Malcolm sighed.
"Yes, it's been like 30 minutes," Laurel said.
"It might be a while, why don't you go find Tommy or Frost," Malcolm said.
"Okay," Laurel said, heading out.
First, she tried to find Tommy. She managed to find out from one of the bodyguards in the hall where he went.
When she found him though, he was kissing Veronica.
"Ahh! Never mind I'll talk to you later!" Laurel said, walking away.
She went to find Frost, but when she got there, Frost was making out with Alex.
"Why!" Laurel said, walking away. She could hear them both laughing.
When she got back to the front room where Malcolm and Slade were.
"Yeah, both of my bodyguards are occupied," Laurel said.
"Doing what?" Malcolm asked.
"We'll Tommy's making out with Veronica, and Frost is making out with Alex," Laurel said.
"Well damn, Veronica and Tommy, huh?" Slade said, laughing.
"Stop laughing Slade, it isn't funny, that's my son," Malcolm said.
"Okay, fine," Slade said.
Suddenly, Thea came running in, actually tripping over a chair.
"What now?" Laurel asked.
"Is it true that Alex and Frost are dating?" Thea asked out of breath.
"Um... Yes," Laurel said.
"And Tommy and Veronica?" Thea was slightly wide-eyed.
"I don't know, how did you find this out?" Laurel asked.
"The bodyguards in the hall told me," Thea said.
"Thea! Stop turning my men into gossiping little girls!" Malcolm said.
"Haha, no!" Thea yelled, running out.
"Oh my god," Malcolm muttered.
"I'm just gonna stay in here, or I might find my sister making out with Barry," Laurel said.
Slade laughed and said, "You can stay here and wait with us."
It took another hour before the van with Lena and her kids arrived. In that hour, Alex arrived in the front hall to wait, but Laurel didn't say anything to her.
"We were hit on the way over," Lena said, rushing in.
"Are you alright?" Malcolm asked.
"Yeah, we lost a few men though," Lena said.
"Damn," Malcolm muttered.
"You must be Laurel," Lena said, turning to her.
"What about me?" Alex said.
"Sorry Alex, it's good to see you," Lena said.
"Laurel can show you to the Lance apartment, where you'll be staying," Malcolm said.
Laurel waved at Lena's 2 kids. The slightly older one his behind Lena, while the younger one waved at Laurel.
"Come on this way," Laurel said, showing them out of the main room.
"Is that a tv?" The smaller one asked when they got to the apartment.
"It is, but we have a lot of people playing on the game system most the time," Laurel said.
"Why don't only 3 people live in this apartment," Lena said.
"Well, yeah, but this apartment has also become a hangout for blossoming couples," Laurel said.
"Does that mean Kara's been here," Lena asked.
"Yeah, but we had to ban her from the games," Laurel said.
"Of course," Lena agreed.
"Mom! Eva took the tv controller!" The smaller one yelled.
"I did not, Lilly's lying! I had it first!" Eva yelled.
"I'm not lying!" Lilly yelled, before, tackling Eva, trying to get the controller.
"Girls! Stop it, Lilly, you will get the controller when Eva's show is over," Lena said.
"You're a good mother," Laurel said.
"Thank you. I need a drink," Lena said.
"Come on," Laurel said, smiling.
Lena sat down at the table, while Laurel poured her a drink.
"So, you actually get to be involved in the mob?" Lena said, quietly, so Lilly and Eva wouldn't hear.
"Yeah, but I am second generation," Laurel said.
"Well how, unlucky, I would hate that, at least this way I don't have to do anything I disagree with," Lena said.
"I'm not going to do anything I don't agree with," Laurel said.
"Okay," Lena said.
"I have to go, or else my mom will try to corner me again," Laurel said.
"Okay," Lena called after her.
---------
Later that night, Laurel, Slade and Malcolm were in Malcolm's room. Laurel was on the bed reading a book and Malcolm was looking over papers with Slade.
Laurel's phone started to buzz, and it fell off the table.
Malcolm and Slade watched in amusement. Malcolm was snickering.
"Shut up," Laurel mouthed, "Elizabeth, hi!"
"Hi, Laurel, listen, this is about Bianca," Elizabeth said.
"Oh, yeah-" Laurel started.
"Before you try to make excuses, we know you were there," Elizabeth said.
"Am I in trouble?" Laurel asked.
"No, we just need you to come down and answer some questions," Elizabeth said.
"Hold on," Laurel said. "Will you shut up Malcolm, it's not as funny as you think is. Oh, my god, you're a child. Slade, please take him out."
"So, are you there," Elizabeth asked.
"Yeah, so you need me to come down. You're sure I'm not in trouble," Laurel said.
"If you were in trouble, I would be arresting you," Elizabeth said. "You know where to go, be there in an hour."
"Crap," Laurel said after Elizabeth hung up.
"What?" Slade said, coming back in.
"I'm being called into the FBI about Bianca's death," Laurel said.
"Crap,"
----------
"Who was this woman?" Malcolm said.
"She worked for the FBI, and she was important, but I didn't think they knew I was there," Laurel said.
"You have to go, it'll be worse if you don't," Malcolm said.
"We're not happy about it though," Slade said.
"Not at all," Malcolm said.
"Okay," Laurel said, turning.
"Hey, don't wear the necklace, they'll spot it from a mile away, they know what it is," Malcolm said.
"Okay," Laurel took off her necklace and put it in her purse.
----------
"Laurel," Elizabeth was standing at the front door when Laurel got there.
"Hey, Elizabeth, it's been, what 2 years?" Laurel said.
"Yes, Bianca's birthday party, I spilled something, tequila I think, on you, and Sara and Bianca hooked up," Elizabeth said.
"Still freaky how you remember all that," Laurel said.
"Come on in," Elizabeth said.
They headed in, and before they could get past the front desk, Elizabeth stopped Laurel.
"You can't bring your purse," Elizabeth said.
"Oh, okay," Laurel said, leaving her purse at the front desk.
-----------
"Dinah Laurel Lance," Elizabeth said, as Laurel sat down.
"That's my name," Laurel said.
"Okay, so we know you were there with Bianca, but we don't know why you were there, can you tell me why?" Elizabeth asked.
"I was just there to meet up with her because I was in town," Laurel said.
"Okay, and that sounds believable until you take into account the fact that you haven't been to work in two months, no calls or anything. So we looked into that some more. Turns out, neither have your sisters, all of you disappear without explanation. That's suspicious, care to tell me what you've all been doing?" Elizabeth said.
"We all took a break, we came to Star City for a friends wedding, and to stay with our dad," Laurel said.
"Alright, well, did you see Bianca get shot?" Elizabeth asked, moving on.
"Yes, she was shot in the head, I wasn't sure what was going on, she had insisted that we meet there, and was acting all jumpy the whole time," Laurel said.
"Okay, were you injured?" Elizabeth asked.
"No," Laurel said.
"Okay, and last, did she tell you anything about what's going on?" Elizabeth asked.
"No," Laurel said.
"Alright, you're free to go, you can grab your bag on the way out," Elizabeth asked.
----------
"So," One of the agents asked when Elizabeth got back.
"She lied. Or she didn't tell the whole truth. I saw the ring on her finger and that necklace in her bag. And she lied about being injured. The only reason she would lie about that, and not see a hospital was if she was working with the mob," Elizabeth said.
"Which one?" The agent, Angel, asked.
"Merlyn, the necklace proves that," Elizabeth said.
"Is it enough to arrest her?" Angel asked.
"No, we never had enough concrete proof that the necklace tied people to the mob, but it is enough to start an investigation," Elizabeth said. "Oh, Laurel, what have you gotten yourself into."
