Chapter 12
Alex ordered a beer while Laurel simply got some water, she didn't feel like getting tipsy tonight. The two sat in the corner of the bar, far from others.
"So, what do you have to say here that couldn't have been said in the Hall" Laurel crossed her arms onto the table.
"Have you ever heard of the Queen of Monument?" Alex asked.
"Yea didn't she bring together two warring mobs?" Laurel played with her glass.
"Yes, but she lost her life along the way" Alex explained, "The title Queen of Monument was retired and the two mobs agreed to unite with each other. She was stuck between both mobs, she was in love with both bosses, but she never officially became theirs. She died when an out of town rival didn't recognize her"
"Out of town rival?" Laurel asked.
"My predecessor, my father" Alex sighed. "She was dead within a day and anarchy eventually erupted within my father's ranks, no one wanted to go to war with Monument Point, so some men overthrew my father and put me on the pedestal. I made peace with Momunment and we have a trade deal, along with me giving them a wife"
"A wife?" Laurel asked.
"Lena Luthor, she was one of my top ranking women, not to mention she came from old, old money. She was also Kara's best friend, but they knew the sacrifice for peace" Alex said. "She was the first women to marry 2 men within the mobs" Alex took a sip, "She's already given them a son and daughter"
"Why are you telling me this?" Laurel asked.
"Slade and Malcolm have already given you the necklace, which basically gives you the title Queen" Alex pointed at the necklace, "But in order for you to get even more power, they have to basically tie you down"
"Marriage!?" Laurel exclaimed.
"Shh," Alex scolded.
"I haven't even been queen for a month" Laurel whispered.
"Yea, that's because the Merlyns are doing it a lot different than anyone else" Alex whispered back. "Lena married the Monument Kings 3 days after arriving in Monument, others marry their men the day they arrive in their respected cities. You got lucky given the chance to spend time with them"
"When do you think they'll ask?" Laurel questioned.
"My guess, month 2" Alex sighed, "But I should warn you, not a lot of people survive being married to Mob bosses"
"Like their ex-wives," Laurel sighed.
"Moira couldn't handle her first husband in the mob, she sure as hell couldn't survive being a mob bosses wife" Alex huffed, "Andrea, well that bitch was a snitch"
"What?" Laurel asked.
"She attempted to rat out Malcolm, but Malcolm's niece took the fall," Alex said. "Dinah was a good hitwoman"
"Dinah Drake?" Laurel asked, "Like the one that went to prison for being a Domestic Terrorist?"
"Domestic Terrorist my ass. Dinah was hitwoman, top of the Merlyn ranks at that, Andrea played with the truth a little and the next thing you know, Dinah is confessing to something she never did" Alex sighed. "Andrea got witpro, and was never heard or seen again"
"What about Moira?" Laurel asked.
"Moira went back to her roots, last I heard she was living on a farm in Montana," Alex said. "Malcolm let her off because, well, she just wanted to get away from crime, but there's no way to run from your past"
"Clearly" Laurel muttered to herself.
"We should get back to the Hall before Malcolm and Slade have a field day looking for you" Alex paid for their drinks and began heading back to the Hall.

Laurel stepped into Malcolm's hospital room, Slade and Tommy were there talking to him. "Hey? Where have you been?" Slade asked.
"Alex wanted to talk to me" Laurel smiled. "Just some girl talk"
"Don't tell Thea, she'd get pissed for not getting invited" Tommy chuckled.
"So, how are you feeling?" Laurel asked Malcolm.
"Much better" Malcolm smirked. "Frost said I can be let go soon"
"That's great news" Laurel smiled. "I should go check on the apartment, apparently its the new hang-out for the blossoming couples"
"I'll come up, I need to talk with Roy," Slade says. The two made their way to the elevator. As they stepped in and the doors closed, Slade spoke up. "You're free tomorrow night correct?"
"I did have plans to talk to the ghost that's haunting the apartment, but I think I can make time Laurel smiled. "What do you have planned?"
"Malcolm found this nice spot to eat dinner, would you care to join us?" Slade smirked.
"I'd love to," Laurel said, the elevator doors opened and they made their way into the Lance apartment.
Kara, Sara, Barry, Thea, Roy, and now Oliver were playing Monopoly. "At least it's not video games now" Laurel shook her head.
"Kara! Stop stealing the money!"
"I'm your wife!"
"I love you, but you are the worst person to play games with!"
"I spoke too soon," Laurel said.
"Roy," Slade said, ignoring the chaos. Roy jumped up as Slade motioned to follow him, they exited the apartment and Laurel took Roy's place.
"How was whatever you were doing?" Sara asked.
"It was good, Alex just wanted to give me some advice for being a Queen"
For the rest of the night, Laurel played monopoly with her friends. It would be her last night as just Laurel Lance...
