Chapter 13: Sports Festival Pt 5

No Ones POV

It had been right before the beginning of the second round, when the stadium was being cleared and a certain white/red head just exited his waiting room, heading towards the stadium which waits for him.

This is when...

Bump, Thug~!

...two forces collided.

Or in this case, two people crashed into each other and one of them is currently laid out on the floor.

Gray/Blue eyes stared down at the other.

"Greig?"

The raven, stayed laid out, on the ground, their figure looking to be in pain for a second before tension seeped away and they relaxed.

Realizing that all he's been doing is stare, Todoroki moved and bent down to the raven. An apology already leaving his mouth.

"Sorry, are you alright?" He asked, sounding a bit unsure of himself.

He watched as the other just seemed to remain laying there, before opening an eye as a way of acknowledging his presence.

"Umm... Greig?"

The fire and ice user was starting to worry,he wasn't a people person and even he knew this was a bit odd. Before he could speak again, a sigh left the ravens lips.

"Sorry for that Shoto, just found the ground to be really nice and cool, good place for a nap."

He stared at the other strangely, but felt a twitch at the corner of his mouth, amusement growing in his gut for an unknown reason.

"I don't think other people would share your opinion if they see you laying there, Greig."

"True... Plus, I don't like the thought of being stepped on."

She finally opened both eyes and moved to get back to her feet. Offering his hand, Todoroki help Kaitlyn stand.

"What are you doing here Greig?"

The question was simple, Todoroki knew that, but the ravenet reacted in a sheepish way, rubbing the back of her head. Diverting her gaze to the wall, She replied...

"I may, or may have not... gotten lost and somehow ended up here."

It only took a moment for Todoroki to process, and when it did, an unexpected chuckle escaped his lips.

Kaitlyn glared at him, but it was without any heat, just small vexation.

"haha—, laugh it up. You won't be laughing when I kick you in the shin"

Playful promises of pain shown in her eyes, which only caused more laughter from the boy.

'I blame Luffy and Zoro for this.'

Thoughts of her crazy group of crew mates, being merrily as they went about on dangerously crazy ~ but fun ~ adventures. It also doesn't help with her tendency to take on habits and ~ forgive this next part ~ quirks from others. Like for example, getting lost when you clearly know that miss-directions weren't a problem before.

'I hope this habit won't stick, that would be troublesome'

After a moment of suppressed laughter, it finally ceased and the composer the boy once had returned.

"My apologies, I didn't mean to laugh. Forgive me"

Arms folded at some point, Kaitlyn raised a brow at the taller and rolled her eyes with a growing smile.

"No worries. Just help me find the way back to the stadium. It's your match next right? Can't miss that."

She grinned excitedly, but slowly lost it when a blank expression molded its way onto Shoto's face. The warmth in his eye flickered away and became cold. Kaitlyn frowned at the expression. She'd preferred the smile and light in the teens eyes then the fake indifference one he's being wearing every now and then.

"Hey, your not getting cold feet are you?"

A cheeky grin was plaster on her face, eyes shining with mischief.

"What? of course not." He objected and glanced into the tomboys eyes.

"Remember what you said before at the Obstacle Course..." He stared into her eyes and blinked in remembrance as she continued. "...I'm looking forward to that challenge you promised."

Lips curved into a challenging grin, and Todoroki nearly forgot about his purpose for this tournament.

"Your're on."

He smirked back, eyes flickering with fire. Satisfied, Kaitlyn gave him a friendly slap on the shoulder, which kind of startled him.

"Well, what are we still standing here for? Come on, let's get back to the stadium."

It didn't take too long for them before they were at a point where they must separate, Kaitlyn to her seat and Shoto for his match.

"Good luck out there Shoto. Midoriya won't be so easy to beat."

"Thank you, but I will beat him. Then after that, I'll beat you as well,"

"Strong words, better back those up when the time comes."

The two grinned confidently at each other, neither one doubting themselves and just as they were turning to go their separate ways, Kaitlyn stopped mid turn.

"There's one more thing Shoto."

Said boy halted to listen.

"You've got a lot of to prove in this completion... But so do everyone else ~ well, besides me, I guess." She spoke without turning to look at him. "I know you have your reasons for not using your left side, for not using you flames. And... despite that, I find it... sad."

Emotions were swirling around inside of Todoroki, none of them he can place as he listened to the other speak.

"Everyone is here because they want to be, because they want to be heroes. I can't understand that completely... I'm different in that aspect. But I know drive, I know goals and desires. And everyone is working hard. Reaching for their future. Step by step. They're giving it their all..."

Finally looking up at the boy, with eyes that looked to be older then before, eyes full of understanding and years of sadness. Shoto stood as frozen as his ice, while a memory from his past surfaced, before returning back to the present.

"...Are you going to do the same?"

With that question said and done, Kaitlyn smiled once more for encouragement and left Todoroki where he stood.

...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...

"It's the first match of the second round~! These two hero's in training have both been promising the sports festival.

It's MIDORIYA~!

VERSES~

TODOROKI~!

But which of these rivals will advance to the next round!"

The two contenders of 1.A. stood ready.

"BEGIN!!!"

Their attack and counter attack were quick as the ice raised, only to be smashed and blown away by the powerful force of One For All. Sending a cold gust of wind towards the crowd.

From up in the seats of students ~ specifically the one of class 1.A. ~ Kaitlyn watched with focused eyes, while the battle commenced.

'He broke his finger again...'

To say that Kaitlyn was worried is an understatement.

Watching the way that Midoriya used and fought with his power was concerning, and Kaitlyn may have known him and the rest of the students here for a short time, but that was the thing...

They were students.

They're kids, and Kaitlyn may look like one and act like one, but the truth of the matter is that she wasn't in reality a kid. She's basically an old fossil by now.

An old fossil who had a soft heart for kids... no matter their age.

So yes. Kaitlyn was slightly concerned for Midoriya. Not that she would do anything about that concern at the moment.

'And there goes another finger...'

She winced slightly at the scene, but quickly snapped out of it with the arrival of Kirishima. Listening in on what they were talking about, it made sense that Quirks would have it's limitations like any other part of the body. Quirks like Todoroki and Bakugo's aren't invincible.

So Kaitlyn watched the match in silence, with Uraraka and Iida seated beside her on both sides, filling her silence with gasps and concerned comments for their mutual friend.

The air became cold once more as Midoriya blasted the ice again, sacrificing another finger and then an arm when Todoroki made an advance on him.

With Midoriya's arm in the bruised condition it's currently in, people thought for certain that the next load of ice from Todoroki will finish him.

They didn't see the look that Kaitlyn saw on injured boys face.

An immense force came, crashing the ice once more with Midoriya still standing tall and ferocious. A wide grin spread on the tomboy ravens face.

...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...

"You want to win with just half your strength?!" Midoriya exclaimed.

"...They're giving it their all..."

" You haven't put a single scratch on me yet, you know!"

Todoroki eyes narrowed.

"...Are you going to do the same?"

"Come at me with everything you've got!"

Clenching his damaged hand into a fist. Midoriya kept his head high and stared directly with Todoroki.

"Midoriya. What are you planning? You and Greig... Everything I've got?" His face morphed into something mad. "Did my damn old man buy you off or something?" He dashed at Midoriya. "Now I'm angry!"

When the ice user came running in and the instant he lifted his right foot, Midoriya went in, and with the utmost concentration, he used his power and injured right hand and aimed at Todoroki's left side.

It being a direct hit.

The crowds cheered and gasped at the boy who finally got a hit at the number hero's son.

From there, the battle escalated quite fast with both boys coming at each other.

...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...

The final show down was approaching.

Midoriya had broken through the thick ice that Todoroki had made ~ and not in the literal sense this time. Fire, bright orange and yellow and blazing from Todoroki's left side.

The crowds could feel the heat as the air grew warmer and sweat gathered in their skin.

Dark Brown eyes shined at the flames and the two boys down below.

"How beautiful."

She whispered quietly to herself.

Fire may look the same to others around. But to Kaitlyn, fire and flames have their own uniqueness and outlook. Flames produced by it's user have colour and a certain quality unseen to the average human eyes.

So, no one but Kaitlyn could see it, the shifts of emotions, the excitement and the joy in them. They gave the impression of a child finally free from rules and the like. They are wild and untamed.

'...but that's to be expected if he kept himself from using them so often.'

And it didn't pass her sight when the White/Red head grinned, along with Midoriya.

'Saving the boy you are meant to defeat... You're gonna be one hell of a hero, Midoriya.'

But then, the ravens mood went downhill.

"Shoto!"

'Endeavor.'

"Have you finally accepted yourself?! That's it! Good! It all starts from here for you! With my blood, you will surpass me... You will fulfill my desire!"

Before she could realise what was happening and what she was doing and saying...

"SHUT THE HELL UP FIRE FACE!!!"

Kaitlyn had left her seat and stood up towards the edge. Shouting at a volume that everyone could here, especially Endeavor.

When she did realise what she had just done on impulse alone, Kaitlyn could feel the dumbfounded expressions of the crowd. With no turning back, and no intentions of turning back, Kaitlyn held her fearless glare with the Number 2 Hero.

"YOU AND YOUR DESIRE CAN GO AND SUCK IT!!"

Brown turning Silver, unintentionally.

It didn't take long for her panicked classmates to go and draw the raven back and into her seat. Iida especially, gave her a lot of words about talking respectfully to heroes.

Having no intentions on fighting with her classmates, she remained quiet for the remainder of the match, with Todoroki winning and Midoriya out of bounds and unconscious.

If Todoroki was smiling a little bit more widely before the final blow, no one noticed, except maybe Midoriya.

Thus, ended the match.
