Chapter 8: Rumours
No One's POV
The first day of Casper High went as planned for Kaitlyn, and she is sure that her actions has already spread across the school, leaving the students to ponder on the new kid.
On the final bell, the trio dragged the world traveler to join them to the Nasty Burger.
At first, Kaitlyn had so many questions on the how and why they thought it wasn't weird ~ at all ~ to call a fast food restaurant, The Nasty Burger. But in the end, who was she to judge. It's not as if their food wasn't edible.
It's just every time she saw the name, it made her want to laugh hysterically.
But best to keep that urge under control. Can't have her only allies think shes any crazier then they already did.
As the group of teens reached a table, after ordering their food, did they get to indulge in some normal conversations ~ it was mainly on how Kaitlyn did all those stunts at school.
Then finally the food arrived and they didn't hesitate to devour it.
"Ugh, you guys are so disgusting"
Sam cringed as she watched Tucker crew his burger openly. Almost hurling when crumbs and pieces of meat fell out of his mouth.
"Gross Tucker, at least eat with your mouth closed."
A few chews later, he rolled his eyes and started closing his mouth while eating.
"Us dudes always eat like this Sam, telling us to not do otherwise is criminal."
"What's criminal is watching you wasting food by eating like that... dude"
Kaitlyn commented after sipping from her drink, giving an expectant brow ~ which his unwilling headed ~ and gave Sam a supportive grin. The goth smiled, happy to have a female companion to talk to and have her back against the 'dudes' in front of her ~ sometimes.
Going back to her burger, Sam talked about how she doesn't like to eat meat or anything from an animal and prefer eating plants or anything from the earth ~ including dirt/mud.
"So you're an ultra-recyclo-vegetarian then."
The ghost hunting trio stared as Kaitlyn took a bite of her burger. The raven swordsman blinked cluelessly at the threes bewildered expressions. Swallowing the food, she asked...
"What?"
A small pause before one replied.
"You actually know what Sam is? That she is a ultra-whatever?!" Tucker asked bewildered, along side Danny.
Frowning slightly at them in confusion, Kaitlyn shrugged at them like it was no big deal ~ which in her case, it wasn't a big deal.
"I've had my fair share of friends who refuse to harm animals and eat nothing with a face. Its not that strange really, its a life choice and a pretty good one too."
Arms flew around her neck and tightened in a hug, shocking Kaitlyn immensely. Eyes widen and the feeling to escape and hide, enter her system, she almost missed the words the goth girl ~ who was holding her ~ said.
"You are now my new best friend!"
"u—uhh... t—thanks?"
"Sam, I think you need to lighten your grip"
Danny gestured to Kaitlyn, who's face seemed to be losing colour and almost wild like.
"Oh! Right, you don't like hugs. Sorry bout that."
Once released from the goths hold, Kaitlyn breathed and relaxed in her own skin. Tucker and Danny snickered at the display of unease from the Tomboy, before said Tomboy glared at them, eyes flashing sky-blue for a second.
"You know, it kind of feels too unreal..."
Three pair of eyes turned towards the vegetarian as she continued to think on her thought.
"What feels unreal Sam? The fact someone actually knows about your food preferences or the fact our gang of weirdness gained an extra ~ and even more ~ weird member?"
"Aww~ To say you think so highly of me already~! Danny you're too kind~"
Kaitlyn gushed jokingly, making Sam giggle, Danny chuckle and Tucker pull over laughing.
"N...no, I mean, it feels unreal by the fact that this is our lives now. Fighting ghosts and encountering new and different people as we go. Normal is never going to be 'us' anymore."
The boys thought on it and nodded in agreement with the rich girl. It was all smiles afterwards as continued hanging out for the rest of the day with surprisingly, no ghosts.
...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...
The next day the ghost trio plus extra-
"Hey! Did you just call me an extra!!"
(Shut up idiot! Your not supposed to be talking to me! Look! The others are staring now!)
"Um, Kaitlyn? Who are you yelling at?"
"Haha... no one Sam... no one important anyway."
(Who are you calling 'no one important'. I'm the author of your story!!)
"Come on, let's get to class."
(*grumbles and thinks of plans for revenge on ungrateful characters and the fact that we shouldn't have given them such an attitude.*)
Anyway... the group of not so ordinary teens attended their classes with the occasional obstacles call bullies. All of them seemed to be a little hesitant to approach them, seeing as Kaitlyn was apart of their circle.
Even with that said, there was one who still persisted.
"Round 2, New Kid, you and me."
Dash Baxter stood before them looking intimidating as ever... well~ if only it wasn't for his hair that was a tad bit pink.
Blinking up at the jock for a bit before—
"Eh? Do I know you?"
...
The jocks face was priceless.
"Don't mess around with me! I'll pummel your pretty little face in!" Dash fumed, grabbing Kaitlyn's shirt and holding it up as he drew his other hand back.
Danny, Sam and Tucker were yelling at Dash to release their friend but he didn't listen. The blond expected a fight, expect for the raven to give some kind of angry comment for his assault.
He didn't expect this...
"Aww~ you think I'm pretty? Thanks for the compliment~!" Kaitlyn beamed up, ignoring the threatening fist and angry face. "But sorry, I'm not into jocks." (Or anybody for that matter.)
Turning bright pink, Dash paused as he slowly comprehend the ravens words. "C—com—compliment!? P—pre—pretty!?"
A sh*t eating grin later along with a snap of her fingers, smoke erupted and covered them within its cloud. At the sudden smoke, the football player released his grasp on the ravenet, which gave her the opportunity to escape.
And so the chase begins again.
"Ya know..." Tucker began, as they watch Dash run after a laughing Kaitlyn. "... I think she gets a kick out of being chased."
"What makes you say that?" Sam whistled as she witness Kaitlyn flip over the footballer.
"Oh... just that fact she looks to be having the time of her life."
"At least, we have someone to distract Dash for us now." The Blue eyed teen shrugged.
"Let's get to class, Kaitlyn looks to be having too much fun at the moment." The goth encourages her male friends, pushing them in the direction of their science class.
"GET BACK HERE!! I'M GONNA MAKE YOU WISH YOU WERE NEVER BORN!!"
"HAHAHAHAHA~! I forgot to mention before, but Pink is quite Dashing on you~!"
And the trio blocked out the chaos that was the star footballer and their mental, prankster friend.
...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...~...
During class, the students whispered to each other and Danny couldn't help but be curious and listened.
"So I heard that the new kid is like, totally mental and picked up a fight with the football teams leader."
"It's true, I was there! The guy was teasing and taunting Dash like, for real!! And Dash was pissed."
"No way! What happened!?"
"The new guy, just went poof, in a cloud of smoke and kept dodging Dash the the whole team! He was like jumping and flipping everywhere! It was crazy and awesome!"
"Whow... whats this guy like! Is he some kind of bad boy, where did he come from! What's his name!?"
"I think he's from New Zealand? And from what I remember, his name is Kaitlyn Greig."
"Kaitlyn? Isn't that a girls name? So wait is this guy a boy or not?"
"I don't know, but they were certainly a cutie. Ah~ I hope they're a boy, he certainly is good looking."
"Really! Spill!"
And from that point Danny wanted to rinse his ears.
Oh, how those girl were going to be crushed when they find out their current target of interest was truely a girl. It's funny how one can look passed things like a name, to believe in what they want.
Tucker tapped him on the shoulder and whispered to him.
"Dude, Kaitlyn's got nearly the entire school talking about her. Even the girls are into her!" His dark skinned friend complained.
"Tucker, it's because they don't know that she's a she, they think Kaitlyn's a boy, that's why."
"Yeah, I know, but it's so unfair sometimes..."
The two sighed and planned to mope for the rest of the period until...
"Ahhhhh!!"
The screams of students was in the air before Mr. Lancer opened the door announcing class was postponed and there's a ghost on the loose.
"Tucker"
"I've got you covered dude, go kick some ghost butt."
(Yo! I'm back again, and with a new chap.
This wasn't how I wanted to end this chapter, but I got impatient and decided this ending was good enough.
I've been lacking in motivation for my writing, but then a certain some contacted me, and gave me their opinions and ideas for this book. Their enthusiasm rubbed off on me, so I'm gonna do my best in working on this book for the mean time.
Till next chapter, see ya~! 😁)
