YG Entertainment has announced the disbandment of 2NE1, the labelmates of Blackpink and the trendsetters in k-pop.

The disbandment was quite unexpected, since many fans thought that 2NE1 was going to have a comeback (because of the "Who's Next" teasers).

2NE1 started the "badass" concept with their debut with "Fire" in 2009 which the world of k-pop was lacking a lot at the time. They've made a huge change in music and have inspired a lot of groups.

Is 2NE1's disbandment related to Blackpink? Did they want to clear the path for them?
