Chapter 28
I was slowly awoken by the plane steward who was persistently jabbing my shoulder.
"Miss for the 8th time you need to exit the plane now." she said in a rather irritated tone. I quickly apologized as I grabbed my hand luggage and scurried off.
I was soon as I was in the airport my stomach growled, I guess I fell asleep the whole time. As I went to claim my luggage I took in the airport. I've always loved air ports, the lively bustle of people going from and to extraordinary places and the fact you can nearly go anywhere.
Airports seemed to be my haven once.
I brushed the thought away and grabbed my oncoming bag before heading to a small café to grab some food. I ordered a sandwich with a blueberry muffin. I quickly devoured the food sighing with content.
After I finished my food I grabbed my bags and went to go hail a taxi. If you have seen any city set movie you will see the characters hailing a cab with no problem, well that's not how it goes. After 20 minutes I finally got one and told him the address of a café down the street of our mansion. I never liked saying my actual address.
I got there in under 20 minutes and started walking to the prominent building which towered above the other houses. I sighed seeing yet another fancy car. Isn't 13 enough? I always hated my fathers way with money, why not give even a fraction to a good cause instead of a car you only use once a month, not even that really we've always had chauffer's since I can remember.
I placed my hand on they scanner internally hoping me didn't remove it but as the light flickered green my worry washed away.
I walked down the drive as a wave of nostalgia hit me. It was strange seeing my childhood home again. With the bad and good memories in every crack. It simultaneously wanted me to run for the hills and go to the studio and stay there for hours.
I approached the large daunting doors and entered before I changed my mind.
"Ah Mr Heartifillia I was just about to cle- Lucy?" I followed the voice to a small women with tears in her eyes. I squealed in delight as I ran up and hugged her.
"Spetto I missed you so much!" I yelled.
"Miss Lucy w-what are you doing here? Mr Heartfi-" She started before I interrupted her.
"It doesn't matter what he said, I decided to come here isnte-."
"Spetto who is this?" A loud voice boomed from above, I looked up to see my father on the balcony.
I turned to face him.
Yeah... Nope. Nothing.
"Um, Its me Lucy, ya'know your daughter." I said blatantly.
His eyes widened in recognition but quickly went back to his stone gaze.
"Don't use that tone with me young lady!" He shouted, I didn't filch I got used to it after the first month.
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes " Yes Father, sorry."
"So what is it you want, I'm rather busy."
"Well I cam-" Before I could continue his phone rang and he answered and left the room. How I've missed my dad I thought as I rolled my eyes.
He came back in, "We can talk at dinner I have matters to attend too."
Gee dad so nice to see you after 3 years too!
I sighed and turned around to Spetto.
"I see he hasn't changed." I questioned in a solemn tone.
"Unfortunately not Miss Lucy." She sighed looing down.
"Spetto please just call me Lucy as before." She looked up and smiled.
"Of course Lucy, It's lovely to have you home, your rooms as you left it if you want to get settled in and I must apologize but I should start cleaning the room and alert everyone else about your presence and dinner tonight."
"No need to apologise, thank you Spetto." I smiled warmly at her as she nodded and hurried away.
I grabbed my bags and headed to my old room.
I took a dead breath as I twisted the handle and the familiar smell of jasmine filled my nose. I walked into my room. Everything was just how I left it. Baby blue walls with navy curtails and my blue and silver bed. It all seemed so normal, like I haven't been gone for 3 years.
I pushed away the oncoming tears and jumped on my bed looking up at my chandelier trying to reach it like I did as a child. I laughed as I collapsed and pulled out my phone.
2 missed calls
2 texts from Gray
1 Text from levy
I unlocked my phone and went to check who my missed calls were from.
2 missed calls from Erza
I gasped remembering that I didn't even tell her I was leaving, i quickly messaged her an explanation then went to open the text from levy.
From Levy
Hey how was the plane and call me when you get this I need present advice xx
I smiled at her concern and decided to call her after a shower as I don't know how long it would take.
I opened Gray's texts
From Gray
Hey how was the flight?
Hey again I forgot to give you your present want to get coffee when you get back I can save my present for then??
I smiled and typed a response agreeing to coffee.
I plugged in my charger and then my phone. I quickly peeled of my clothes and went to shower.
~*~
I exited my en-suite with my towel wrapped around me humming, I sat down on my window seat and called levy.
After 40 minutes of combined brainstorming we finally decided on the perfect present for Gajeel.
I hung up then started on brushing my hair. Now an outfit. Instantly regretting not bringing any dresses I walk into my walk in closet to find something. The rows of ball gowns over whelmed me. You wouldn't think I'd ever be in one of these but I've worm them all at one point and another. I instantly went for the least flashy one which was still very posh. It had a black bodice then a multi-coloured gown thing flowing down with a small black belt.
I heard a small knock on my door and went to open it, standing there was a very happy Spetto.
"My Lucy you look gorgeous!" She complimented and I couldn't help but blush.
"Thank you Spetto, also do you still have that key I gave you?" I smiled warmly at her.
"Yes, it's safely locked away in my room I will bring it to you after dinner, which is ready by the way." I nodded my head and walked down to the grand dining hall.
My father sat at the end expectantly. I sat down across from him and fidgeted with my fingers.
"So how are you academics?" He asked in a monotone voice. Wow no ' I missed you' or 'How are you doing' or 'You look nice' nope just am I smart to not be an embarrassment.
"They are doing well, I have a meeting with a publisher in a months time."
He sighed "Your still bothering with that nonsense writing?"
"Only on the side." I replied quietly, it was a lie though. He thinks I'm taking business but I'm actually taking creative writing and literature.
Starters were served and we ate in silence. As I finished my last bite I looked up to see my father staring at my intently.
"You've grown." He stated, yeah well no shit Sherlock its been 3 years.
"In many ways." I replied.
"Finally getting your life together I see." Bitch. I put on a forced smile and nodded.
"So what brings you here?" He asked like the business man he is.
"Can't I just see my Dad!" I chuckled dryly only to be met by a glare. I cleared my throat and carried on.
"Well it's been 3 years since i left for college and I was thinking we could spend Christmas together?"
I looked at him hopefully only to see he was staring at his phone before dialling a number.
"I didn't hear what you said, We will carry on this conversation tomorrow I have some business to attend too." He said before standing and taking his leave.
Of course you do. I sighed before standing up and returning to my room.
I walked around awhile looking at all my old stuff until I heard a small knock on the door. I went to go open it and saw a small box lying on the ground. I picked it up and opened it, smiling with content I quickly went to change to something more practical.
