Chapter 5.5 - Lo-Tech Disadvantage

The rest of the exam went on with no issues. The other participants paid no attention to Izuku, and went about gathering more points. Afterwards, when Izuku saw Recovery Girl double timing it to where he was, he went on the defensive. She got closer, and Izuku growled.

"Settle down. I'm here to heal everyone." Recovery Girl tried to sooth Izuku. "Let me take a look at the girl, please?"

The please was a nice sentiment. Izuku slowly and hesitantly revealed the still scared Eri, not moving from his position. Recovery Girl approached Izuku and Eri, and gently kissed Eri on the head. Her scratched legs healed, and she grew tired. Recovery Girl didn't notice Izuku's injuries, which was probably for the better. There was no telling what would happen if she tried to heal him in his state.

As Recovery Girl went about healing the other participants, Izuku and Eri slipped away, and Sharanga took them back home. No one saw them leave, except one person. That person rubbed their eyes, thinking it was a trick of the light, and settled on resting a bruised fist on their chin, thinking.

Back at home, Sharanga set about treating Izuku's injuries. It was not hard, he just had a lot of bruising and minor inflammation on his right pectoral, but nothing major. It was a quick fix.

After that, Eri had nightmares for a few days, but Izuku always calmed her down. After a week, he started checking the empty house 4 doors down for the letter from UA, because he had listed his address as that house. After all, dumpsters in back alleys don't have proper addresses.

It took exactly 17 days for the letter to be sent. Eri had stopped having nightmares, and Izuku opened the letter for the both of them.

They found a CD.

"Well." Izuku said, unamused. Eri was mystified. "What's this, big brother?"

"It's a disk. They go into computers." Izuku said. "Something we don't have... Great."

"What's a computer?" Eri asked, curious.

"Computers? They are these box-shaped things that let people do things like look up how something works, or buy things, or play these very colorful games with weird noises." Izuku said. "I guess I gotta find a computer to get the answer. Be back soon! Be careful!"

With that, Sharanga took Izuku out computer hunting. The goal was to find an empty house with a computer. Eventually, they struck gold. A house with nobody moving around, and the hum of a computer tower. Sharanga emerged in front of the computer, and Izuku inserted the disk, after trying to figure it out for a few minutes.

It started playing automatically. The computer started talking.

"I am here! On your computer!... All Might, the person handling the acceptance letters went on with a whole spiel that he had clearly said many times already. Izuku heard that he had gotten 66 points, and something about rescue points, and that he passed, in 11th place.

Meanwhile, someone downstairs was wondering why the computer was on in their room. They had taken a nap on the couch, and woke up to All Might saying "Welcome to your hero academia!" They dismissed that at first, before remembering that they took the disk out of there computer after they watched it, and left it on the counter for their parents to find.

"Who could that be..." They wondered.

Sharanga heard the movement, and Izuku got the disk out as fast as he could. Sharanga them took him home.

13 seconds later, the door was pushed open by a very curious student. Their cloths had been pushed away from a spot on the floor, and someone had been poking at their computer. But, there was not a single trace of anyone in the room.
