3. I Saw Her Standing There

Chapter Three: I Saw Here Standing There

"How could I dance with another? When I saw her standing there."
-Lennon & McCartney

Soon the album Help! was finished and the lads, their girlfriends, Brian and other important people that helped with the album all went out to dinner. They had all agreed on going to a new restaurant in Central London. They had heard a few of their friends had been there and highly recommend it. Everyone thought that they had nothing to lose really and went to dinner.

Paul walked in through the door. The restaurant was flash, it was like a grand hotel. Paul was glad that he had decided to wear one of his nicer suits complete with a tie. He was going to wear a waist coat, but thought that it might be a bit too much for a semi-formal dinner.

"Do you have a reservation?" Paul heard someone ask.

"Yes," Paul heard Brian say. "It should be under Epstein." Brian finished.

"Oh yes!" Paul heard someone exclaim. "Please follow me."

Paul walked behind people and kept his head to the ground. He just didn't want to see everyone with a partner. It had been just over five months, but that didn't mean that it hurt even less. Even with his head down he noticed people turning their heads. He figured it was there was a big group of almost fifteen people. It was just an added surprise to see The Beatles among the big crowd of people.

When Paul came to the table he took a seat between John and Cynthia and George and Pattie. John was lucky enough for Cynthia to come down from Liverpool for the week while Julian stayed at Cynthia's parents house. It seemed like everyone took the opportunity to have the 'plus one' on their invitation. And it seemed like their 'plus one' was their significant other. It made Paul even more depressed to be surrounded by couples.

Paul perked right up when he saw the menu. It menu was posh with a total for four courses. Though you did order something for each course. You have appetisers, a starter, main and dessert. Everyone decided that they didn't need appetisers. So they were only going to have a three course menu.

"Are you ready to order?" A waiter asked after they had been seated for ten minutes.

Everyone was quiet and unsure if they wanted to order first. John decided to bite the bullet first and order first.

"Um yeah." John said as I. His mind he was having a quick run through what he and Cynthia wanted to order. "Can I please have two cauliflower soups, two Alfredo pasta-" John said as he showed him the pasta and sauce on the menu. "-and can I have two strawberry cheesecakes."

Soon after John had said his order; everyone followed in suit. After they had all finished their orders the waiter excused himself and walked in the direction of the kitchen.

Paul smiled as he saw everyone joking about, and John giving out embarrassing stories for while we were on tour and during the recording sessions. Like the time Ringo tripped over George's guitar lead and almost put his head through the kick drum.

Paul needed to use the loo so he excused himself from the table and walked in the direction of the bathroom. It was then he saw her.

She was standing there oblivious to everything and everyone around her. She looked like an angel. Her brown hair was wrapped up in a bun and she was wearing a floral printed dress with a pair of high heels. Paul couldn't even compare to anyone! She had finally turned around. Paul saw her gasp as she realised that Paul McCartney was staring right at her. He smiled when he saw his green eyes expand to the size of golf balls.

Paul was longing to have the courage to walk up to the girl and try to talk to her and ask if she wanted to have a cup of coffee somewhere. But all Paul could think about was his last heart break. So he shook his head and walked away to the bathroom.

Paul had finished in the bathroom and he walked back to the table. He couldn't help but to look around to see if he could see the same girl again. Crestfallen, Paul made his way back to the table. Paul was so in his thoughts thy he didn't see a lady walking towards him.

The girl wasn't paying much attention either. When she knocked into something hard he cheek flushed pink with embarrassment. She swore that she would of fallen over but she felt arms circle around her small waist.

As on instinct Paul made a hasty attempt to save the girl from even more embarrassment. Luckily Paul's heroic actions were successful and he caught the beautiful girl in his arms.

"Oh dear!" The girl said as she looked up to see the Paul had caught her, her cheeks flushed to an even darker pink. "I am terribly sorry!"

"It's alright." Paul shrugged. "No harm done."

Paul looked down at the lady in his arms and noticed it was the same lady that he saw on his way to the bathroom. Paul needed a quick way to find out what her name was.

"But I would like to know something." Paul said as he released the girl.

"And what is that?" The girl asked him.

"A name." Paul said simply. "Your name in particular." Paul smirked as he saw the girl's cheeks flush a light pink.

"Audrey, Audrey Gilbert." The girl smiled up at Paul.

"It is a pleasure to meet you," Paul said and paused. "Audrey Gilbert." Paul added on and smiled.

"The pleasure is all mine, Mr. McCartney." Audrey smiled up at Paul.

Paul gave a hearty laugh. "Please, just call me Paul." Paul said with a smile.

"Audrey!" Someone called out.

Paul looked behind his shoulder to see an old man waving at Audrey. Paul figured that the old man must be her father.

"I won't be a second father!" Audrey called out over Paul's shoulder. "I should go." Audrey stepped around Paul and walked towards her father.

Paul was longing to have her in his arms again. An idea came to him and he smiled.

"Wait!" Paul said as he reached for her hand. "Would you like to meet up tomorrow?"

"I would love to." Audrey smiled.

"How about outside this restaurant?" Paul asked.

"Perfect," Audrey said as her smile grew. "At what time?"

"I was thinking about half past ten in the morning," Paul said.

"Great! I'll see you then." Audrey said as she waved and turned around to walk back to her table.

Paul sighed and casted a loving look at the direction that she had just walked in. Paul soon turned around and walked vac his table.

"What took yer so long?" John asked Paul with a narrowed look.

"Nutt'n." Paul said as he sat down in his chair.
