"Witch bitch!" A voice that May Foster recognised as Max Jägerman echoed throughout the halls of Hatchetfield High School. 'Shit,' May muttered as she looked at her younger sister. May's sister, Hannah Foster, has been the subject of Max Jägerman's ridicule since she started at Hatchetfield High last year. Hannah looked at May, her light brown eyes filled with fear, May silently wished that her eldest sister Lex was here. Lex is twenty-one but she used to go to school with Max when he was only a freshman, May had to stop herself from laughing out loud as she remembered Max's crush on Lex.

"May-" Hannah started, pleading for May's help.

"Keep walking, Banana," she told the younger girl.

The blond-haired-jock laughed, the laugh cold and cruel, she had heard Max Jägerman laugh like that many times but never before had she heard a laugh of joy espace Jägerman's lips. "Yeah, Banana, run. I'll get you when your nerdy sister isn't here to protect you."

"Hey!" May turned around, ignoring her institutions, she looked at the bully, a person whom all the students (and some teachers) at Hatchetfield High fear but to her, he looked like a pathetic any, someone who's self esteem comes from making the people around him feel like less. "Leave my sister alone Jägerman."

"Or what Foster? You'll put a curse on me?" He laughed, turning to his friends Kyle and Jason, who cheered him on.

Kyle high-fived Max, "Ha ha. Good one, Max."

May rolled her eyes. "May, let's go," Hannah pulled May's arm as she tried to hurry her sister away from the three jocks. May shook her head, due to being a member of the Foster family, May had dealt Max Jägerman torment for the last four years, continuously coping his mocking comments about her upbringing, the frequent 'Trailer trash' or 'Witch Bitch' comments that her her two sisters also receive.

"I won't need to curse you, Max. You are already as stupid and cruel as any curse could ever make you," May spat at Max. The bully growled, his fist balled as he went to swing at May.

"Mr. Jägerman," A teacher appeared from behind Max, May smirked as she realised who the adult was. Mr Houston, the woodshop teacher and one of the only people in Hatchetfield High who couldn't care less about Max Jägerman. "Where you just about to lay your hands on my prized student?"

"Of course not, Mr Houston," the bully stuttered, "I was just going to shake May's hand. Congratulating her for skipping Junior Year, we're classmates now after all," the blond boy's voice was sinister on the last five words as if it was a threat.

"Good, now off to class boys."

Max, Kyle, and Jason walked away, Max glared at May which made the brunette sniffle a laugh.

"May! Why would you do that?" The younger girl tightened the hood on her yellow jacket around her head as she cried, "Max is going to kill me!"

"Death is hardly permanent in this town."

"I'm serious!"

"Okay, okay. I'm sorry. What about your friend Daniel? Can't you hang around him when Max bothers you? I like that kid."

"Daniel moved schools."

"Oh-"

The teacher raised his voice, "Girls, as much as I am happy to help, class has started and I really can't afford to lose this job, so let's wrap this up. Hannah, your first class is with me, so you won't need to worry about Max."

The auburn-haired girl nodded, "Okay."

"Thanks, Mr Houston."

"It's not a problem girls."

When May arrived at her General Mathematics Class her heart sank as she realized that the door had been closed, her chance to sneak in undetected thrown out the window. May took a deep breath as she knocked on the door.

An orange-haired teacher opened the door as she looked at May, before May even got the chance to explain herself, the principal nodded her head. "It's okay May, I understand you have a lot going on at home, this will be a warning, next time I won't be able to say the same."

May bit her lip, she looked at her classmates who were all staring at her, chuckling or rolling their eyes. "It's not fair that May gets special treatment because she's poor," she heard a kid at the front whisper.

"Thank you," May said politely, as much as she hated her classmates' negative attention, she couldn't afford to say anything. School is May's ticket to getting her and her sisters out of Hatchetfield.

Miss Mulberry nodded, "Take a seat, I was just handing out the pages to a pop quiz."

May took a seat next to Stephanie Lauter, the Mayor's daughter. May shook her head as visions of another universe plagued her mind, sights of a camp, an axe, and pastel shirts with 'Virginity Rocks,' written on them. May recognises the shirt as the uniform from Camp Idontwannabang, a summer camp in Witchwood Forest that promotes abstinence. May spent the last summer at Camp Idontwannabang, Lex thought it was hilarious considering that May is an atheist but May went because it was free and looked good on her college resume. Going to the camp ended up being a terrible decision though because May suffered from headaches the entire camp and saw visions of another universe where Stephanie Lauter went to the camp and a lot of people died.

May started to fill out her test, and when she was done, Steph whispered to her, "Hey, genius-"

"You're not cheating off me Stephanie, try your luck with somebody else."

"Okay..." Steph turns to the person on the other side of her, a nerd with suspenders named Peter Spankoffski, May tries to avoid Peter because every time she is close to him her mind is flooded with at least three different realities. "Hey. Hey, Geek."

The boy looked at Stephanie before looking behind him, trying to figure out who the popular girl was talking to. "Me?" Peter questioned.

"Your name's Peter, right?"

"Yeah."

"Hi Pete, we've been in cast together for a long time, haven't we?" May rolled her eyes as Stephanie used her skills of persuasion to convince Peter to cheat. May watched the two interact, a strong feeling of Deja Vu washing over her. Aside from May, Pete is the smartest person at Hatchetfield High, so it surprised her when he finally gave in and agreed to help Stephanie cheat.

"Cheater!" Grace Chasity squealed as she raised her hand for the teacher.

Steph groaned, "Oh god! Butt out, Chastity!"

"Grace, just be cool," Pete pleaded with Grace.

The girl smiled proudly, as if snitching on her two classmates might have just saved their lives, "Never." She raised her hand again, seeing as the teacher ignored her the first time, "Miss Mulberry, they're cheating!"

May knew it was rude to stare but she couldn't help but find humour in the scene, knowing that if  Pete just told Steph to go away as she did, this never would have happened.

"Peter, Stephanie, principal's office, now!"
