The Beginning

"Andromeda!" Narcissa Malfoy's cold voice rang through the manor, and I winced. She could have just sent a house elf to come and get me, but I guess this was a bit more important.

"Coming Aunt Narcissa!" I yelled back.

Throwing the robes in my hand to the ground, and made my way towards the door and to the parlor, kicking my trunk shut as I passed it.

Passing my cousins room, I saw that it was opened and the Draco had finished packing. Running down the stairs, I quickly made sure I looked presentable, before walking into the parlor.

"Ah, Andromeda." Lucius sneered. "So nice for you to join us."

I nodded my head, not trusting myself to speak. I was still afraid of him. Even if I had grown up in this house for the past fourteen years, I was still afraid of my Uncle. I have distant memories of a nicer man taking care of me, and even if I did follow my Uncles ways, he would never trust me with anything important, due to who took care of me for the first two years of my life, a man I hardly remember.

"Is there something that you need Uncle? I am almost finished packing for Hogwarts."

He sneered once more. "As you know, the Dark Lord has returned Andromeda. You or Draco must not tell anyone of this at Hogwarts. The longer the ministry stays in the dark, the better. You both understand?"

"Yes sir." Draco and I replied.

"Excellent. You are dismissed."

Draco and I quickly ran out of the room, and up towards our own bedrooms.

"Are you finished packing yet?" Draco whined. "I'm bored."

I chuckled. "Cousin dear, I can't lie to your father, so no. Read a book Draco."

He rolled his eyes. "And become like Granger, heck no."

I grinned knowingly. It was risky bring up the conversation of Hermione Granger, a mudblood, in our house. As long as we said the appropriate language, we were good though. I had noticed that Draco had brought up Granger in a lot of our conversations, so I confronted him a few weeks ago, and he admitted having a slight crush on her, which scared him.

He knew he wasn't supposed to fall in love with a mudblood, and he was afraid of rejection. He was even hesitant to tell me! I told him I wouldn't tell anyone, as long as he wasn't going to tease me about anything. He agreed to the terms instantly.

"Screw Granger, Draco." I replied. "Life sucks a lot, so read a book. Or maybe two. Or three. Who cares. And I'll finish packing, and then we can talk or read or take a walk."

"Fine. I'll read a book." He muttered, and I grinned. "See you Malfoy."

"See you Black."

I entered into my room still grinning. I swooped down and picked up my robes, grabbing them, and folding them nicely before setting them in my trunk.

I thought about my life for a few seconds. How Lucius made it quite clear that the Dark Lord was back, and I wasn't allowed to tell anyone. The fact that Lucius had trusted me with that information, was good enough for me.

Picking up my Arithmancy books, and shoved them on top of my potions scales and then stacked my other books on top. Finally, ending with the pair of robes I would need to change into on the train, I shut the trunk with a loud snap.

The letter I had received from Hogwarts was still sitting on my bed. I still couldn't believe it, but now, I wouldn't have to wonder who my partner was.

Draco and I had been made prefects. Prefects! I mean who in there right mind would make me, a prefect! I smiled slightly, remembering the proud looks that both Narcissa and Lucius had when we announced we were prefects. They took us out to get a gift, and while Draco chose a new racing broom, I chose something a little more practical.

Regulus was my fathers name, but it was also the name of my new Owl that I had gotten. He was black with grey eyes, and there was no other name to give him, than honoring my father.

The next day, Draco and I were at Kings Cross Station, saying goodbye to Narcissa, for Lucius was at work.

"Bye mum." Draco said as he hugged a tear filled Narcissa.

"Bye Aunt Narcissa." I said as I hugged her one last time.

"Oh, please be safe! Both of you!" She whispered as she pulled away from the hug. "Promise me!" She added.

"We promise." Draco and I coursed.

"Oh, I love you both so much." She whispered, pulling both of us into another hug.

I felt the lump in the back of my throat grow. Why was I so nervous?! It was just Hogwarts.
"I love you too Narcissa."

"Love You too mum." Draco replied and gave a half smile. She the turned away, and I grabbed Regulus' cage, and Draco and I made our way towards the train.

Climbing up, I reached out a hand to Draco, and we both boarded the train.

"So prefects compartment?" I asked.

He nodded and we made our way towards the compartment that McGonagall told us where the prefects were meeting. I had already owled my friends and told them that I would meet them after the meeting.

We walked in and sat down waiting for the other prefects to arrive. We got Patil and Goldstein from Ravenclaw, Macmillan and Abbott from Hufflepuff and for Gryffindor-

"Oh great, Malfoy." Weasley muttered as he passed us. He and Granger sat down across from us.

Draco rolled his eyes, and I groaned under my breath. Granger wasn't that bad, I could survive with her, but Weasel? Nope, defiantly not that blood- traitor.

"Okay! Welcome fifth year prefects!" The Head boy began. "So some jobs is as a prefect is making sure that the younger students follow the rules, the first years find there way across the castle, and-" He began going on and on about the rules that the prefects must follow, which I blanked out. I would just ask Draco what I had missed. Or Granger.

"WHAT?!" Came loud shouts and I was pulled out of my thoughts, and back into reality.

"What happened?" I muttered to Draco, sitting up quickly, so it looked like I was paying attention. "I wasn't paying attention."

"For nighttime patrol, we're being partnered with someone else, whose not from our house."

"You've got to being kidding me, this was the reason I said yes! To be partners with someone I knew!" I muttered angrily.

"Everyone please calm down!" The Head Girl, I think was Anderson, shouted.

Everyone got quiet. "Thank you!" She huffed angrily.

The Head Boy, Mitters, spoke. "Okay, we're going to assign you your partners for the rest of the year, and absolutely no switching."

"Patil with Macmillan." Anderson began, and both of them looked relieved.

"Goldstein with Abbott."

"Oh no." I muttered, knowing who I was partnered with.

"Granger with Malfoy." Granger looked sick and Draco opened his mouth to protest, but I jabbed my elbow into his side.

"And finally, Weasley with Black."

"I'm going to kill Mitters." I hissed to Draco. He smirked.

"Your so going to enjoy this." He whispered back. "You and Weasel. Tell me every annoying thing he does, I'm so using it against him."

"If I tell you." I replied. "I might just tell you if you never tease me again."

"Wait, what?"

"Black! Malfoy! Pay attention! We're almost done here!" Anderson shouted. Everyone looked at us. I grinned, and waved. Immediately everyone turned back to Mitters and Anderson.

We were finally released, and I made my way towards my usual compartment which I shared with my friends.

"Oi, Black!" I turned around to see Weasley standing there.

"Yes, Weasel?" I asked sweetly.

"We'll meet at the entrance hall, on our days. 8:00. Don't be late."

"I could say the same thing about you Weasel." I shot back. "Bye!!" I added dragging out the e.

Skipping off, leaving Weasley standing there looked pissed, and made my way towards the usual compartment.

I was so going to enjoy this year.
