Chapter 1.
As they waited for the screen to light up, Tim started the conversation between the four. "How you holding up Jayden?" Jayden scoffs, crossing her arms.
"Oh I don't know Timmy, my heavily traumatic life story is about to be played in front of damn strangers," she said bitterly, making him wince.
"Okay stupid question. My bad," raising his hands in surrender, while offering an apologetic smile.
Jayden sighs. "It's fine. This whole situation is so uncalled for. And then there's the asshole of a sperm donor." At the mention of Orion, she scans the crowd till she spots him. She could tell he's been stealing glances since her arrival.
She definitely wasn't planning on reconnecting with him though. He left her alone in Gotham of all places, simple as that. Her half brothers are a different matter, there's a possibility that they didn't know about her existence.
"You don't have to do anything you don't want to jaybird." Dick says softly, tossing his arm around her shoulders.
Noticing movement in the corner of his eyes, Damian quickly interrupts, "we have company. Most likely for Todd considering their uncanny resemblance." There was no way he was going to let his guard down just because they were possibly Jayden's relatives. He'll determine if they are worthy of her attention or not.
Their attention drifted towards two boys, the older dressed in red and the younger in green. Okay so they both had black wavy hair too, colored eyes, all they need to know is if they had a traumatic past too. If they did, the vigilantes were ready to kidnap them for Bruce to adopt.
Before walking up to the newcomers, the Black brothers came to a temporary truce. Regulus believed it'd be a good idea to introduce themselves before going down memory lane. So not wanting to leave a bad impression, Sirius agreed.
"Hello," the boy in green greeted with hestitation. "My name is Regulus Black. This is my older brother Sirius." He gestures to boy in red.
Sirius brightly grins, "The more handsome brother of course! Hello there." Jayden quirked a smile at that since that reminded her of Dick.
"Reggie and I wanted to introduce ourselves since we know father," venom lacing the word, "won't be doing that anytime soon."
"Nice to meet you guys. I wish it were under better circumstances," Jayden genuinely stated. "I'm taking it you've never heard of me right?"
They rapidly shook their heads before she could think otherwise. "No no. Of course not, we were barely told before your arrival," Regulus insisted. "Father's affair wasn't too surprising, but we honestly had no clue we had a sister."
"No kidding. He's a damn coward," Sirius muttered to himself. But not quiet enough since they all heard it.
Jayden lightly chuckled. Dealing with cowards was on the daily for her whether it was as herself or Red Hood. "You won't hear me disagreeing. It's also nothing that my brothers and I haven't dealt with before."
"Todd is correct," Damian joins in, "so should he or anyone else aim ill intentions towards us, will meet the end of my blade by MY hands."
The wizards shuddered because they knew he was serious.
Cue a face palming Dick. Looking up to scold the kid,"Really little D? How many times have I told you to behave? We don't need anymore enemies."
Tim rolled his eyes, "This is demon spawn we're talking about. He hardly listens to Bruce and he's, well Bruce."
"Tt. Shut your mouth Drake before you acquire a new injury."
"Excuse me you little shit?" Tim was ready to throw hands but sadly was ignored. He really needed more coffee to deal with bullshit of a fiasco.
Damian continued, "As for enemies Grayson, all I need to do is get close enough to retrieve their wand, snap it, and watch their hope to survive diminish from their eyes."
Sirius and regulus sweatdropped at the thought. Man this menace is vicious.
"I see your point but-"
As they bickered, Sirius will forever deny that he hid behind his baby brother. His sister's brothers scared him specifically that little menace. Meanwhile, Regulus fidgets in his spots. Unsure on what he should do or say at this point. "Are they...always like this?"
Jayden snorted. She wasn't bothered by their interactions since they were a lot worse, if anything this was rather mild. "Yup. Don't worry though, this is tame compared to other times," she said with a sly smirk. "Anyways, was that all you needed or would you like to sit?," she offered, attempting a comforting smile even though she felt a bit awkward talking to them.
Regulus and Sirius thought it was considerate of her to offer even when they could see she was uncomfortable, the feeling was mutual but they'll fix that later. "Oh no it's fine really. We just wanted to say our hello's before splitting off to our friends," Regulus declined gently.
"Perhaps we could speak more during a break?" Sirius hesitantly asked.
"Sure I don't mind," she said earnestly. The hall lights dimmed down, screen lighting up. "Seems like it's about to start. It was nice speaking with you two." She waved a goodbye as the three shared a small smile. With that the boys walked back to their friends to share their interactions. Her gaze soften as she watches then both looking happy talking about her.
Turning around to her brothers who are still arguing, she elbowed Dick in the stomach harshly who released a small "oof" and threw a fork she found on the table at Tim's forehead which bounced off to hit Damian. They both scowled at her, soothing their targeted area. "Y'all done now or am I gonna have to tell Alfred about this when we go back home?"
All three boys chorused a pouty "no" before turning their attention on the screen that was now lit up.
"Here we go Jayden," she speaks to herself, letting out an emotionless sigh.
On the center of the screen presented a beautiful white palace like building that held golden roof tops. It sat on the edge of a cliff.
The wixen couldn't help but gape at the building, even the purebloods who had manors themselves.
"This is located in Bosnia, one of grandfather's many bases," Damian stated.
Drifting inside the building there was a man who graced himself with confidence and authority. This man is known as Ra's al ghul, demon head of the League of Assassins. Extremely dangerous and has lived for centuries.
The noble families observed the man, he presented himself with high regard and someone to stay clear of, that much they knew.
He stood in front of a windowed wall, staring at the outside world, face full of conflicted emotions. He turns, his emerald eyes meeting a wary man who entered the room containing files to report.
"I've allied myself with a madman. Where are they and how long have they've been there?" He asks with obvious urgency.
The man hesitated his next words, "In Sarajevo sir," he pauses and fidgets in place "and..he has the girl. She's been captive for about 6 months." Anyone with eyes could see this man was remorseful about the situation at hand.
Ra's was definitely not happy with the news, if anything regret, perhaps grief, and guilt was plastered on his face. Which was surprising considering who he is.
"Okay I find this extremely unusual. I don't think I've seen Ra's look guilty about anything." Tim points out. He's faced this obsessive weirdo before so this was new for him. For heaven sake, Ra's pushed out the window of Wayne Enterprises and he's pretty sure he kept his spleen.
"I find it unusual for me to agree with you, but Drake is correct. Grandfather has always been harsh and disconnected with emotions," Damian said, confusion laced in his tone.
Those who heard wondered what they meant by that. Looks can be deceiving and right now Ra's looks like a normal uptight man.
A pair of black dress shoes covered in dried up blood was the only thing shown. The owner of the shoes began walking in a slow taunting pace, each step echoing throughout the dimmed room. The sound of metal can be heard scraping across the floor. With each step the view expands, now showing a large rusty crowbar containing a mixture of fresh and old blood. Their steps died down until coming to a full stop in front of their target.
The tension in the hall was heavy. Whatever was about to happen couldn't possibly be good.
Jayden knew where this was going the second she heard the scraping of the crowbar. The blood from her face drained and heart dropped to her stomach. She could feel bile threatening to come out but she forced it down. This specific memory has never stayed in the past. She'd been reliving this tragic event since it's happened every. single. night.
"I'm warning you now, whatever you see next won't be pretty. I recommend children or anyone for that matter to cover their eyes if you're squeamish," she announced loudly, fists trembling and avoiding eye contact.
Her brothers know what she's talking about and prepared themselves since they'd actually be witnessing what went down, not just hearing it from her. They all sucked when it came to feelings, but they know they have each other's backs.
They heeded her warning and had children shuffle around the older students. Adults were wary but prepared. Most of the Black family looked at her with concern in their eyes. Orion knows what he did wrong and will never forgive himself for it, but that doesn't mean he won't worry.
Walburga and Bellatrix weren't too worried since they've seen what the dark lord can do, but kept her warning in mind. Despite not being a pureblood it was obvious she had the makings of a Black.
The individual shown was a deranged looking man dressed as a clown. A bright purple suit. Green greasy slicked back hair, face covered in what seemed like white face paint, dark shadows covering around his blood red eyes and lips smothered in bright red lip paint. The Joker.
Gasps could be heard by everyone. Some jumped because of his appearance.
"Who the bloody hell is that?!," James questioned.
"Why does he look like that is my question, looks bloody ridiculous? Like his hair is green!" Sirius was more concerned with his hair, definitely wanted to give this psycho some hair tips.
Regulus facepalmed hearing his brothers question. Of course the fool would focus on the hair instead of the man who clearly looks insane and has the intentions to clearly hurt someone. His friends just laughed at his misery.
The Gothamites forgot that most of these people were clueless with the outside world. Tough shit, not their problem.
"That man is known as the Joker, a psychotic clown that enjoys causing mayhem in Gotham city." Dick says, keeping it short and simple. If they wanted to know they could it themselves by researching.
As he lifted the crowbar in the air, he displayed a large bone chilling grin. Releasing his swing, all that resonated around the warehouse was a—
CRACK!
The crowbar met across a swollen girl's face, sending her tumbling to the floor.
"Augh!" There laying on dirty ground with her eyes clenching in pain, chest heaving was 15 year old Jayden Todd.
Shouts and gasps were echoing around the room. Majority of the children were frightened, and adults completely baffled.
Jayden shuddered, releasing a shaky breath from feeling minor phantom pain from that day.
Dick held her hand tightly to offer some comfort, even if it was small. Tim and Damian couldn't do much from across the table, so they tapped her boots under the table.
Regulus and Sirius couldn't believe what they were witnessing. Their older sister looked horrible, as if she's been tortured for months.
Her arms were tied behind her back to prevent her from escaping. The red suit she wore as Robin was practically torn to pieces. Only her sports bra and spandex shorts were covering whatever her suit couldn't. Her black hair matted, different colored bruises of all sizes covering every inch of her visible body parts. Deep old and fresh gashes marred her skin from her legs to her neck.
The silence in the hall spoke for itself. No one had anything to say or do besides watch this man torture a 15 year old girl. They could feel bile in their throat, overall nauseous at the physical cruelty.
Those who know of Gotham city felt pity and worry for the infamous Red Hood. They know the joker was only one of many crazy villains in Gotham. From what they're witnessing now they couldn't blame her on how she turned out as a anti hero.
The Joker looms over her pitiful figure, grinning with sadistic pleasure. "Damn heh heh," taking a second to laugh "that looked like it really hurt. Then again we've been doing this around 6 months, so you really should be used to the pain. Ain't that right sweetheart?" He lets out a nasty cackle. A cackle that'll stay with Jayden the rest of her life. If she survives for that long.
"6 months?!" A random student yelled. No one shushed him because they too were outraged and frightened.
They're only seeing the recent beatings during her captivity. But she's been there half a year suffering through gods knows what. For all they know her previous torture was worse.
Jayden shuts her eyes closed, she was already regretting everything's that's happened today. Doesn't she deserve a break? Will she ever achieve happiness? Because right now it seems that nothing will ever go her way. Pain and suffering is all she's known since birth. Perhaps it's why Red hood lessens the suffering of those in crime alley, because she sucks it all in like a damn sponge.
The joker decides to continue the beating, swinging and whacking Jayden's body. With each hit Jayden groans and gasps, trying to bite back her screams. Taking one more hard hit Jayden lands on her back, showing her bloodied figure, teeth clenched and panting heavily. She was trying to regain her breath as she sees the joker approaching her.
She couldn't move her body. All she wanted was Batma— her dad— to rescue her. Hope was all she had left.
Orion felt like the worst human being in existence. The shame and guilt hits him all at once and gradually increases causing his knees to shake, body trying to make him drop to his knees against his will.
Alphard kept a tight grip on his shoulder, not with support but to let Orion know he deserves to feel like this if not worse.
"What have I done?" Orion whispers to himself. Walburga shoots him a look, but finds herself preventing any snarky remarks coming out of her mouth.
"Now hang on, that looked like it hurt even more. So let's try to clear this up, okay pumpkin?" He grins, tauntingly hitting the crowbar against his palm. "What hurts more, A" smack! "or B" smack! "forehand... smack! or back hand." Smack! Crack! Crack! Crack!
With each hit everyone in the room flinched hard, as if they could feel the pain. There were some who silently cried to themselves, imagining themselves or their children in Jayden's place.
Laying face down on the ground, all Jayden could do was lie there in pain, doing her best to catch her breath. Regardless of the torture she's been through the past half year she wasn't going to bow down to anyone, especially this psycho clown. With whatever strength she had left she turns her head towards the joker to tell him off. Which granted was the worst idea but fuck this clown!
"Fuck...yo-" she starts before she broke out in a coughing fit.
Tim winced at that. "Only you Jayden, only you."
Dick scoffed, arms crossed with a raised brow. "I wouldn't be talking Timmy. We all antagonize our enemies."
"Yeah dickie is right baby bird. Besides I was raised as a street kid, I ain't gonna let no megalomaniac clown believe he can beat me into submission." Jayden smirks at her brothers.
Tim rolls his eyes, but smiles a bit seeing her smirk. He's glad this offered a small distraction.
Joker bends down to Jayden's level, cupping his ear. "What? Huh? Can't hear ya, gotta speak louder," He fists a hand into her hair to lift her face, causing her to hiss. "It's probably that collapsed lung causing ya to gurgle on blood. HAHAHA!"
She didn't have to turn around to feel those god awful pitiful gazed on her back. Typically she'd shove her guns in their faces, threaten them till they get nightmares, but she couldn't do that with children present. Instead she shoved her face in Dick's chest. Feeling his arms tighten around her, rubbing her back as she heard him say "You're okay jaybird. I've gotcha, you're not alone anymore. We're here."
"Don't you have anything better to do than stare? She's uncomfortable so I'd turn around if I were you," Tim threatened those around the hall. Damian next to him imitating the bat glare, ready to slice these fools.
Some at least had the decency to look away in shame. Others not so much but flinched anyways seeing Damian's glare.
"I said fuck you!" She spits blood, landing on his cheek.
Aggravated he smashed Jayden's face on the concrete twice hard enough to her it crack before getting up to wipe her spit off him. "Now that was rude. The first boy blunder had some manners." In spite to get him more irritated, Jayden pulls her face to gift him a nice big smile, blood painting her teeth. She looked like a worn down feral animal.
She really did look feral, which caused people to shiver because she's literally being tortured and smiling at him. They could see the Black Madness in her at that very moment.
The Black family felt a bit of pride seeing her bloodied smile. Yes they all felt disgusted with the physical abuse but she's showing how amazing she can be. At 15 years old she's been tortured for half a year and still had the strength, determination, and stubbornness to provoke her captor, even if she knew there would be consequences to pay afterwards.
"I suppose I'm gonna have to teach you a lesson so you can better follow his footsteps," he mockingly thinks on it before he smiles, "nah, I'm just gonna keep beating you with this crowbar." The joker proceeds to beat Jayden with the crowbar whilst kicking and stomping on her.
Jayden exhausted just lies there taking the beating. Releasing groans, gasping for air, choking on sobs. One eye swollen shut and the other dull, mentally preparing of the possibility of dying before taking a minute to close it.
Growing up Damian was told emotions were a sign of weakness, to never let it show on his face for they could be used against him. But he couldn't help his stoic mask falter as he witnessed the sheer brutality on the screen. Todd was someone he could relate to on many things and had eventually came to care for. Not that he'll ever admit that, but regardless the only thing on his mind was the unfortunate pathetic existence of the joker.
While the bats don't kill —except for Todd occasionally— there's nothing that says he couldn't send his mother or anyone from the League of Assassins to do the job for him. He's sure he could convince Drake with the plan considering his hero worshiping for Todd and Grayson will be difficult but not impossible. His father might not want revenge, which is absurd on many levels, but he on the other hand will not tolerate it. All in due time...
Hello hello~
Sorry for taking awhile to update. As I've mentioned before I do have a busy life AND this story was created on a whim. So while I will continue to write the story please don't expect regular updates.
I am glad a lot of you have enjoy it so far though! I always see MarvelxHP watching the movies, but haven't seen much on DCxHP or DCxMarvel. Of course that's why I created this one with a female version of my Favorite anti hero. Not gonna lie, it's hard writing everything out considering there's no movie script like the Avengers from what I've seen. I only have the lines for the animated movie.
Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! Remember to drink water, eat food, and sleep. If not sleep at least some naps. Have an amazing day/night 💕
