𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 was considered lucky by many. Many said that she wasn't good at her job and was only hired due to her dad. Santiago Strand was a well known detective in the Chicago area, really all over the country. He was known for stopping multiple serial killers and drug dealers over his time at the intelligence unit, being the units Sergeant. Although he retired at the beginning of the new year. The older man had been feeling quite tired lately and couldn't make it through the work day like he used to. In concern, he went to the doctor and after many tests, it was revealed he had colon cancer. The city of Chicago broke after hearing this news. Hearing that the man they once trusted with their lives was dying and retiring, the violence started getting worse.

That's when Hank Voight got called in. Hank and Santiago had been friends for decades, really since Octavia was just a toddler. Santiago trusted Hank with his life, and he trusted that the man would do anything he asked him to. That's why Hank was the first person Santiago called about the job. Hank immediately offered and started forming his team. This is why so many people believed Octavia got the job. She was a family friend and her dad used to be the sergeant.

Octavia denied all of that and just chose to stand up for herself. She knew she deserved her spot and they needed her there. Although Jay halstead thought differently. Jay and Octavia had a bit of a curvy relationship. The two actually used to date when they were in high school, growing up in the same area and everything. Although come along freshman year of college, the two had been fighting a lot more due to the distance between them and on the day of jays deployment, the two ended up in a really bad fight.

A lot of hateful words were shouted and by the time Octavia realized she was wrong, it was too late. Jay had already left for his training and Octavia wouldn't be seeing him again. Or so she thought. When Jay halstead and Octavia Strand are both hired for a job at the intelligence unit, it's hard to believe anything's real. They hadn't seen each other in over 10 years and at this point, Octavia didn't even know who he was anymore. It was clear both teens had changed and everything was starting to turn into a group of black out days.
