■ ode to legends

yall remember that really old catfa fic that I had in my drafts book back at 2019? welp maybe not but it holds a special place in my heart and it's one of the best Steve fic concepts I came up with, so I thought it's worth to be added here. it's entitled "ode to legends", the fc is a filipino and so is the character.

be warned that this is all came from my history nerd slapped with a comic book geek persona, sooo you'll see a lot of PH historical elements and themes. (also these graphics are vvv old too, please bear it)

the fic is set on the timeline of first avenger (basically world war ii), it focuses on the sociopolitical climate of philippines-america during the war and the effects of gen. macarthur's escape from PH before the fall of bataan.

my oc, general antonio "tony" guerrero was among the high ranking officers who oversaw the operation of bataan and corregidor, the last stronghold of ph when the japs attacked. but he was eventually relieved from his post, under the command of his superior, to join the usaffe & assist macarthur escaping to australia. this is also to ensure that ph still has a representative voice overseas and won't be completely abandoned by its allies.

jump to their escape to australia then to tony's shipment to mainland us, specifically to camp leigh as a candidate for project rebirth. but due to the fact he's a poc & disabled it was difficult for him even to be considered. that's the time when he met skinny steve and somehow being both an outcast around led them to became each other's company.

in the original plot i remember planning that they'll both received a serum and that hasn't changed yet. the story will have a lot of political nuances and elements. it'll be more grounded to realism of the state of both countries during the war. but of course the stevetony storyline will be explored at the same time.

i also remember that i planned it to have quite a tragic end. since steve chose to crash the plane in the artic, tony is left alone on the post-war world. but since he's a supersoldier he won't aged like the rest and prolly witness the next 70 years, unaging and undying. just war after another. until steve comes back in '11.

that's all i have and all i can remember from my original plotting. lastly i just want to share that my oc is very much inspired from gen. gregorio del pilar. and if you know him you'll have the basic idea of steve and tony's dynamic. the loyalist soldier-the rebellious captain 😉
