hear me out... So I've been wracking my brain for months how I will write Wanda in my Marvel fic series. The premise of her character in the MCU was extremely problematic (starting from volunteering in HYDRA, being whitewashed and fictionalized her Roma heritage) recasting and rewriting only parts of it isn't really working for me anymore. It will be better to scrapped everything and start from the beginning. Even her storyline in MoM was full of harmful Roma stereotypes and anti romanyism.

But at the same time her storyline was a huge part of the current convolution of MCU's story. Removing it will affect so much of my planned and drafted stories of the series.

So I thought what if I just write MCU Scarlet Witch is June Covington variant instead of Wanda. If you don't know June she's a Scarlet Witch from the comics who has so much semblance with MCU "Wanda". Like look she got her abilities from experimentation, has a """manipulation""" features in her abilities, an unapologetic villain (tho comics June is wayyy darker, I think the MCU SW fits a toned down June in terms of villainy) Even her storyline and arc are very similar, June is an anti Tony Stark, a prop for Norman Osborn (Von Strucker in MCU's case) and voluntarily experimented herself.

MCU's Scarlet Witch was already a white charac so why not just use the white Scarlet Witch from the comics. I was really shock finding out about June because she's been there all along yet they opted to whitewash Wanda just bc they wanted a Scarlet Witch in MCU so bad.

Then in the MoM arc only then Wanda will appear as Scarlet Witch from another universe. June and Wanda are not variants of each other, rather they are just the SW of their respective worlds. In this way I could avoid all the MCU's existing mischaracterization of Wanda since the interpretation of the live action fits June's Scarlet Witch more.

So what do you all think about it? Is this a better alternative? Would it be lazy writing if I continue this plan? Please let me know your thoughts because I really need a second opinion regarding this.
