Merry Poppets

Now what we've been utilizing thus far is what's know as grub magic, my teacher calls it that because we use our grubby little hands to make our magic work. Now I'm certain that all of you are familiar with the stereotypical wands and staffs that are linked with magic, and it's not all that off base. With this spell, we'll be creating a poppet, or rather a mote. A poppet is a small doll typically used by witch doctors and voodoo masters but for a good reason. The easiest mote to make is a doll because they tend to have shapes that resemble a human which helps place the mana accordingly. A mote is a catalyst for magic, and most people tend to use different types of motes. Voodoo masters use dolls, diviners use crystal balls, battle mages use staves or canes. But really any object can be used.

So the first step is to grab an object to use as your mote, the smaller and more human-like the better. Next, you'll need a mirror mostly for visualization, when you get good enough or have a mote that isn't humanoid you won't need the mirror. Now just like the last spell, you'll be conjuring your Mira but this time focus the Mira into the object of your choosing. Now I'll be using a doll in my example. You'll want to gaze into the mirror while visualizing (focusing with your eyes closed) and see how your mana travels through your body. Each limb such as the arms and legs has two reciprocals, the head has five and your torso has your Mina (pronounced my-na) which is essentially just your mana core. Channel your Mira into the doll so the veins of mana on your doll match your mana reciprocals. And lastly our first verbo incantatio or rather a vocal spell.

When you put mana into an object and leave it be the mana will return to the universe and it's just wasted energy. To prevent the mana from fleeing the mote you must clutch the object and recite this spell. "So mote it be." Plain and simple. Congratulations. You have officially created a mote which will help in later spells.

Now my teacher loves watching her students fail so they feel miserable. Not because she's a sadist but because controlling your emotions is a key component of magic. When we made our first motes she failed to mention that we had to recite a spell so we kept failing over and over again and felt like quitting. Eventually, she told us the spell and we were so relieved to have completed the lesson that tormented us so.
