05 - Dejection
Jimin's P.O.V
Sitting behind the car I look out the window, my vision focused on the trees that form a significant line; unthreaded. They stand invulnerable and tall.
I excused myself from my parents so that I could go and explore the town I grew up in.
Gladiol Town.
It is a place no human can see, it's completely invisible by the human eye.
I remember the time my current parents looked at me when they spotted me under the pouring rain on a Friday night, their eyes filled with pity as they took me in. Bare and almost unconscious, I give my gaze with half-lidded eyes.
Cold traveled to my body as I clutched my thin clothes closer to my body.
A lot of things happened that night, I thought I was gonna die.
But hope came with the footsteps of strangers, carefully lifting my body up in the air as they cover me with a towel so thick it gave me warmth and comfort.
That was the day they adopted me, Y/N's mother was pregnant with her at that time so we are years apart.
They never cared or looked into my background, they just wanted me to feel the happiness I was supposed to feel at that age.
Not the harsh materiality of life enforced upon my meek self.
Slowly we formed a family, bond as strong as platinum. No one could tear us apart, and as Y/N was brought into the world it became much more stronger.
She grew up strong, no one could ever break her, but the downside is she is always soft-hearted when it comes to the people she loves.
And that's when the Jay incident happened, she loved her friend so much but he decided to bring upon pain to the girl who only knew to love him and ruined their friendship.
Even at the hospital she kept asking for Jay, worried about his well being after what I did to him.
But never did she hated me for what I did, she must've understood.
The car hollered to a stop as my body forged slightly forward from the brake, the man in front peered at me through the rear-view mirror.
A smile creeps his lips.
"Why are you here anyway?" he asks tapping the leather steering wheel, "You should be with your family."
I clasp my hands together.
"I just miss this place, it's a long time now."
He nods in response, I pat his shoulder gently.
"Thanks for the ride Hoseok, and tell him to loosen up a bit, he's been creating chaos for a while."
"Will sure do." He says.
I close the door of the car as the engine revs up to disappear in the midst of the lining trees, standing there I breath in the fresh and cold air carried by the trees, they sway like dancing ballerinas, graceful yet powerful.
In front of me is a market, people buy and sell at the sides, bargaining for a lower price. It is just a normal crowded market. A sign saying 'Gladiol Forum' is situated at the top.
Only that it is only visible to the chosen people.
Noise fill my ears, it gradually gets louder the more I enter the crowd, walking through I look around.
I wasn't finding or looking for anything.
I just wanted to remember the forgotten feelings I felt when I roamed around here as a kid, my eyes were wide with anticipation and amusement back then.
I notice kids playing around with toys they just bought as adults whisper into each other's ears, gossips ringing into their ears.
It is ordinary and I wanted that.
But nothing here is ordinary, it's far from it.
I want to be normal .
It was the most impossible wish I asked.
And yet it was created by my mind in hopes of having it fulfilled.
After a half hour of roaming around I finally decided to go back, afraid my parents would be worried with my lack of presence. I put my hands in my pockets as I turn to walk to the path I made to get here.
A tug I feel as I turn to see a wrinkled hand holding unto my shirt, but rather with force as the age weakened it. An old lady stood just behind me, looking up at me with eyes of interest.
"You might wanna check out the vintage collections I sell" she says holding out a hand to motion a small table just behind her.
Vintage items fill the table: trinkets, spoons and forks, candelabrums, and such. In full honesty though everything is interesting but not interesting enough to make me buy something.
I shake my head politely with a smile, but she kept her grip on me tightly.
"I have something for you, you might find this interesting" she says.
Something for me? What could it be?
She then takes out a box colored in a deep brown, opening it she flaunts the piece in front of me. It is a locket, with 'Gladiol Town' engraved on the exterior.
I don't know why but when I first saw it I remembered Y/N, it'd suit her perfectly. It is simple yet strong, just like her.
Like a lost item it is, I look at it with eyes a glint of satisfaction, like I found a precious lost item beneath the soil of a growing lilly.
Turning to her fully. Movement filled with determination.
"I'll take that."

The food was amazing, mom really is the best cook. Her foods never fail to amaze me.
Gobbling the food I notice a certain figure by my peripheral vision.
She is draped in a large black sweater, head and lids down as she plays with her half-eaten food with a fork.
But what I noticed was her disinterested look, everyone around the table seems to chatter with each other happily whilst she sat there, completely oblivious of everything around her.
Everyone's distinct places are clattering with forks and spoons, sounds cover the majority of the audible sound. And yet she is in a different world, different timeline as it is hushed and restrained.
The contrast of everyone around her is incredible.
Pale and cracked is her lips and gone now the tint of pink of which her chubby cheeks used to hold.
She is lifeless.
Why is she like this?
What happened to her?
The sound of the chair gently brushing the floor filled the echoing room, and she stood up carrying her plate without making any sound or eye contact to people.
My parents must've noticed so they nudged me, telling me to go talk to my dejected sister.
The bright atmosphere now changed to a gloomy one, with the life of it gone to the stairs and disappeared up the top.
I fumble with my plate as I rush up to where she was.
On time I see her head down as she was about to close the door behind her, clicking my tongue I immediately grab her sleeve making her turn to me.
I push her inside and close the door behind me.
"What do you want?" she asks.
The eyes that once held joy are now replaced with dull, with an arduous motion she looks at me with the pair.
"What happened to you? Why are you like this?"
She sits on her bed with a huff out her lips.
"I don't know, I just feel down for some reason- or not."
I am confused, what is she saying?
"What?" I ask worriedly.
She is never like this.
"I'll tell you but there is a condition" she turns to me.
Condition? Curiously I cock a brow at her.
"I'll tell you but you have to bring me to where you got the necklace made."
My eyes widens. This girl is crazy, she won't be able to see anything there.
"You don't under-"
She stands up, nearing me as she pokes my chest with her pointer finger.
"Take. Me. There" she says with determination. Eyes staggering to fall.
Why does she want to go there badly?
Well if that will make her tell me why she's like this then I have no choice.
She's a stubborn person so arguing with her would not be the best choice.
Taking her hand off my chest I nod.
"Promise me you'll tell me once I take you there."
"I promise."
"Okay then, I'll take you."
She smiles with a sigh, but rather with a hard breath as she staggers, "Now get out of my room."
Slamming the door in my face with such force albeit her weak demeanor makes me think otherwise of her dejection.
Shrugging the thoughts away I push my hands in my pockets.
Anything can happen in a span of seconds.
And if she sees anything there.
She might not be who I think she is.
