02 - Pastel

Looking at the far distance of his view I don't see anything, only trees and lots of greens. What could he possibly be seeing there when he's literally close to blind? I peer as my eyes adjust its focus, scuffling to find anything similar to a living animal or person.

But trees are the only ones to exist.

Strange.

Watching beyond the depths of the dark forest makes me want to pour my insides from the demise.

It is very intimidating.

And dark.

I hate the dark because every time I'm in it, I see a pair of eyes watching me conscendingly.

Goosebumps appear on my whole, feeling the skin-tightening embrace of the phenomenon I snap back to reality, thoughts swallowed back by black holes.

A pair of monolid eyes stare at me discerningly. The smirk he had worn has been banished, leaving a tight expression.

"What are you looking at?" the guy blocks my sight of the abyss on the other side of the lake with his body making me wanna smack his balls. Presenting the guy my annoyed face with a huff, "I should be the one to ask you that."

"What were you looking at?" I ask curiously.

In response, my brother swallowed an invisible lump in his throat. A thing he does when he's about to lie.

I shake my head and gently push his chest,

"Nevermind, you'll lie anyway. Let's go to mom and dad, and help them unpack," I say. Leaving him with no chance to defend himself I clasp my shoulder with his and drag him with me.

"Oh you found him, go inside and explore your new home. You should get used here," mom splays her hands out in a gentle manner and points at the door of the house which is wide open and welcoming us.

Unclasping our tied limbs I enter the house, him following close by. I marvel at the interior of the house, which is mainly composed of the colors gold, blue and white. Everything looks astonishly great, from the couches to the rugs and to the lights that adorn the white ceiling. A single staircase sits on the left side.

It is a two-storey house, it definitely explains why the house was so expensive, but nevertheless, I love it.

Putting the boxes down on the floor with a huff dad calls us, "Okay kids, your mom and I have decided which of which room belongs to you."

Scanning his eyes around the living room once again with a smile he continues, "Jimin, yours will be beside Y/N's which is to the right upstairs. There are three rooms up there: a bathroom, a room which is slightly bigger than the other and is in the middle, and the room which is slightly smaller than the other. Jimin's is the small one, we figured Y/N would hang her artworks on the wall so we have decided to give her the bigger one."

Clapping his hands in a single motion he dismisses us, leaving the two of us alone. I nudge Jimin slightly, "Hey, is it all right if I get to have the bigger room?"

He looks ahead, biting his lip as a crease slowly appears on his forehead, showing that he was thinking deeper that how he should be. He shoves his hands in his pockets, "I mean, you spend all of your time in your room and I tend to leave the house very often so I've no time to clean my room. And yours is just slightly bigger than mine, so I guess it's fine."

"Yeah, it's definitely fine, I mean it suits you so well. With that small pepper of yours, your room and your pepper would be like twin siblings," I snort and cackle.

I like the joke, damn.

A fuming Jimin turns to me slowly, his nose is like that of a mad bull, on position and ready to charge. "You little shi-" I steer his body around, facing our parents who are watching us curiously.

My eyebrows start to meet as I tiptoe to find a pervious position where I could whisper in his ear, "Aww, go on, continue what you were about to say". I could see how he curls his hands into fists and how he is almost vibrating with anger.

He was like a volcano ready to explode and distribute its contents, but too bad, he was not one.

So a spasm of his anger and pain (caused by anger) run through his body and under my fingers which are touching his shoulders. The warmth now replaced with a great burn, sweat visible on his skin, and his heartbeat frantically pumping as he tries to control the rise of chemicals in his brain.

Deciding to stop his torture I throw my shoulders over his shoulder and peek at the length of his form, "Hey mom and dad, don't mind us, we're just having some sibling-to-sibling talk." Our parents look at me incredulously, showing that there was no belief in my words, but nonetheless they nod in assurance.

A victorious smile creeps up my lips, and I start to lead Jimin up the stairs. I jump at the last step and to the top. Remembering something I pivot on my heel and flash my shameless face to the exasperated guy.

I felt bad for my brother for what I did to him.

Apologizing would be the best choice.

Sweeping out an arm to nudge his arm, he immediately recoiled. And from the look on his face he sure knew what I was about to do, and he does not forgive me for it.

I don't know why but when we're on the subject of peppers he always gets angry, it makes me think that the latter is truly small.

"Hey I'm sor-" I say, but my incomplete words were put to rest as my brother fastens his pace and leaves me on top of the staircase dumbfounded, blinking rapidly and closed the door behind him.

Sighing I knock on the door with my hard knuckles.

No answer.

I knock again, no answer.

Knocking several times I finally say, "Jimin, this is not your room. Your room's beside my room." I point at the flawless teal-colored door beside mine's.

The door creaks open and out comes his peeking head. With silent feet he moves to the other room, leaving me chortling outside the open door of my room.

Swiftly entering my new room I take in the sight.

A huge bed is positioned at the right side of the room, beside it is a huge desktop. The bathroom is on the left and I also noticed a small walk-in closet just beside it. The room is minimally decorated and painted with a pastel matcha color.

I instantly fell in love with the room, I am a minimalistic person you see. Excessive colors hurt my eyes, so this is the perfect room for me.

But what caught my eye is the pastel fae-colored window seat by a cream-colored casement window across the room. The seat is adorned with surrounding bookshelves making it perfect for some alone time or for book reading.

Damn, I'm liking everything in here.

A grin of happiness stretches my lips.

Striding through the length of the room and to the window seat I look out the window.

Gosh, I see everything here.

The beautiful glistening lake and the green and dark forest stands there outside my window, courting me endlessly with its pure beauty. The structure and placement of the window seat makes me feel like everything outside is talking to me, telling me a story that I don't quite understand.

The time ticks by as my eyes stare and scrutinize at the color combinations of the land and water, completely frozen by the beauty it gives. Like a comforting friend it sang an unsung song completely undecipherable by logic.

And for the first time as I stand there on that very spot.

I feel complete.

And safe.

Like someone was watching over me.
