01 - Beginning

This was it.

This is a new beginning.

A thin hope I've been holding unto.

I do not know what's ahead of me, but whatever's gonna come I'm gonna make it mine.

The sun rose beautifully, the night fading away slowly just like the innocence I once had. The vast azure filling with different hues of yellow, gold, and blue. Blending into the background smoothly like pastel colors.

The beautiful combinations reflecting in my eyes were an insignia of a new day. A new start.

A beginning.

My corporeal was seated in an awkward way because the person beside me was sprawled all over the seat, leaving no space for me and for my lungs. I was squished too tightly on the corner of the seat, right arm incessantly hitting the door when we pass by bumps.

His head is heavily snugged on my shoulder, and his face is literally inside my neck, fanning the sweat-stained skin, leaving chills that are rather, unpleasant to experience.

His body was warm, hot even, trapping me in a sauna-like room.

Almost rolling my eyes to the back of my head to stifle the urge to smack the person I nudge his head, hard, as he almost hit the back of the front seat. It's a good thing reflexes were endowed upon the man so he was able to hold unto the frontseat's headrest and stop himself from getting into a pitiful ordeal.

He woke up in horror, a glint of fear is in his eyes as he scrambled around the seat. I sure woke up his fight or flight response.

I didn't know if he's in fight or flight judging from the different emotions morphing his face.

His gaze lands on me, firm and strong. There is an obvious rage that sparked inside him.

If there's one thing this person doesn't like, it's to be waken suddenly.

"Why did you do that?" he asks, raged chord silently slipping from the confines of his voice.

Adjusting my butt and the A/C I close my eyes, trying to enjoy the feel of the cold nip of the artificial air directly on my face.

"Your head is way too heavy, my shoulder is about to come off," I scrunch my face. "If you were to have that heavy head you should've brought yourself a big-ass pillow that's as big as this car."

"You hoe," he answers back and crosses his arms.

In a motion I swiftly pull a big hotdog pillow out my bag making him tilt his head to side, curiosity evident on his face. He must've wondered how that big of a pillow fit into my bag, if you'd ask me, I'd probably answer you with the same question because I've also no idea.

I put the pillow between us, resting it firmly on the border of our seats. Watching my every movement with wide eyes he asks, "What are you doing?"

"Now, if you cross this line here I'm gonna yeet you out of here," I warn as I point at him and at the watermarked window.

The grouching man slumps back on the seat and averts his eyes from me, his eyes travelling to the view outside.

We are on the way to our new house, a lot happened at the old one so we had to move.

We were once in the city and now we are moving to a rural place, a place filled with fresh and unpolluted air, chirping birds, greens, and fresh water.

I am moving with my mother, father and my brother, Jimin, who is 7 years older than me. Everything was going great at my old school but this boy transferred to my school and turned my life upside down, I don't why but I was always his target, he didn't fool with anyone, just me.

I was the first person to befriend him, I helped him out a lot of times and so we became close friends.

But one day, he changed, just like a snake shedding its skin he showed me his true colors, how beautiful his madness is, and how his darkness is so pure you'd feelblind.

First he started doing these pranks on me and so I didn't mind it that much, I thought it was just child's play. But it became worse as he started hurting me physically and verbally.

With all of my strength I went to his house to try to talk to him but I almost died when I did, he tried to burn my skin with a long iron bar.

I ended up being hospitalized for almost a month because the burn was so severe.

I swear he's every demon's son.

My parents decided to move houses and cities because of the incident, the boy's parents' compensated by paying for my hospital bills, they made sure I was okay before I go.

They were angels really, the contrast of their son's evil attitude and their innocuous attitude is completely incredible.

And now I am going to be homeschooled with my brother, Jimin. He stayed by my side, he had resisted when our parents forced him into going home just for the sake of his hygiene when he took care of me in the hospital, he ended up staying with me for almost a month. That is one stubborn kid.

The perks of having a loyal sibling really.

The car hollers to a stop meaning we have arrived at the destination.

My parents' cheerful beams can be seen on the reflection of the rear-view mirror, they were pretty pumped with the thought of moving houses.

They were always complaining how our old house sucks and now we're getting a new one, a fully furnished one at that.

So they took the bargain and now it's ours, the previous owner left at such a hurry and the reason was not aforementioned when they had a chat with the broker, we didn't mind it though as long as no one died there.

It's the fresh and cold air that roused me from my exhausted self, I yawn as I shift. My eyes adjusting and focusing from the blinding rays of sunlight stabbing like daggers.

I feel the muscles of my neck and back protest from being squished like a forgotten doll at a corner of a room, grimacing a little I turn slightly at the person who's the sole reason why my neck and back is like this.

My eyes lights up with curiosity as I don't see him in the car. "Mom, have you seen Jimin?"

She is carrying boxes from the back of the car, "He told me he was going somewhere, but he didn't tell where," She answers abruptly, still focused on the boxes in her hands.

I nodded. Psh I don't care where that asshole went to, he's a huge pain in the ass.

Deciding to explore the new place I decided to walk around to find the one thing my eyes had been yearning to see.

And there it is, right in front of me. The main reason why I've wanted to move here is because of a huge body of water just beside the house.

A lake.

A beautiful lake is situated just beside the house, its beautiful water glistening under the sun like a diamond being shined with light and the azure reflects to show only beauty.

A huge forest is located on the other side of the mass of water, the colors of light and dark green blend naturally making it a sight to see.

It is breathetakingly beautiful.

And I am dying to feel its cool water on my tepid skin.

A giggle bursts out of my throat as an outright grin forms on my lips.

I start to run towards the lake with open arms, feeling the cold air hit my bare skin creating goosebumps along the way.

I don't know why but this place just pulls at little strings in my heart and creates these huge whirlpools of confusion and familiarity.

I just feel like I belonged there.

Noticing a familiar figure as I draw closer to the bank, I see my brother strikingly stood by the bank, hands shoved in his pockets and staring ahead.

Deciding with the mere thought of  pranking him, I slowly approach his figure, siddling closer to his body I stand close by, waiting for the chance to jump on the guy.

But all else fails as I notice something.

At first I thought he was looking at the beautiful waters, but no. He is staring right through the forest at the other side of the lake.

But, what's wrong with that right?

His expression had my mind going haywire. He was adorning a slight smirk, the slants of his eyes had something I cannot describe.

It seems as though he was exchanging glances with someone.

I had never seen him like this.
