Untitled Part 9
"Ro...Rood. Amazing." Dio still watched, hidden behind the wall. "As I thought. He's not normal." Dio continued watching. Seeing as how Rood was in danger, Dio panicked. He had requested a new target be Manon. But like anything else, Manon was in charge and had nominated Rood the new Target. "Rood! I've got to help-" Dio was grabbed from behind by his collar. Turning to find out who grabbed him, Dio found a woman with long blue hair wielding a sword in a white trench coat tall enough as she was. "Professor?" Dio was surprised. "Thank god. Professor, the Klads are-"
"Quiet." She told Dio.
"Huh?"
She replaced Dio at the area where he used to witness the incident.
"Professor? What are you..."
"Spectating." She uttered.
Dio couldn't believe what the professor was doing and he couldn't allow it. "H-Here!" Dio yelled "The professor is-" The professor had her hands around Dio's mouth, keeping him from speaking.
Rood was done with his work. Haven fought all the Klads that had bothered forcing him into becoming the new target, Rood was exhausted. "I'm not feeling well...So, could you not touch me?"
"Like I said before. Everyone...Listen up. I don't care who." Manon grips his fist. He wasn't sure what Rood was after witnessing the Klads fail mercilessly. "Anyone who hits Rood Chrishi will get a special prize from me." But despite the reward Manon threw in, no one was willing to go up against Rood. Then as if the Klads read each others mind, they all picked up a stone.
"Th-throw the stones!" A Klad commanded. With that, they began launching.
Rood sighed heavily. He darted left and right, dodging all, the stones. Then, with a quick step, he picked up a handful of stones and counted the Klads. When done, the invading Klads all fell, unconscious. Finishing, Rood spots Manon and two other Klads in the front of the hall and walks over.
"You! Dou you know what you're doing?!" Manon screamed, alarmed. "Chevel will be sure to punish you and that monster!"
"I'm tired of that monster thing already." Rood clutched his shoulder. "Look here. The one being helplessly bullied, or the one bullying. Which one's the real monster?" Rood asks.
.....
Professor Rowell still behind the wall with Dio, witnesses every action Rood takes. Seeing a mana stone roll towards her, she picks and clutches the ball, speechless.
"Professor?" Dio couldn't read her.
She stood along with the clutched stone and walks towards the crowd. Spotting Rood, she lobs the stone at him.
"Ro-Rood!" Dio screams noticing what professor Rowell had just done.
Rood spun around instinctively and sees the stone approaching him. He moves out of the way just in time, and the stone clashes with Manon, knocking him out. "He's not moving." Rood said.
"He's alive...Probably." Professor Rowell approaches Rood.
Chants began erupting from the crowd, happy a professor had come to their rescue.
"She's...The one that fought with Shicmon." Rood thinks. "And...She's a professor here?"
"You. Why did you dodge that?" Professor Rowell asks.
"Huh?" Rood was confused.
"If you dodge, it's no fun." Professor Rowel said picking up another mana stone. "Don't dodge this time...I'm curious."
"What?" Rood didn't know what to say.
"Alright then." Just then, the door burst open, revealing professor Baise, Khan, and another professor with a cane.
"Just what is going on here?" Professor Baise asks.
"Professor Rowell!" Professor Khan calls noticing professor Rowell. He looked around once more, this time spotting the holed in target board and the unconscious Klads on the floor. "Pro-Professor Rowell! You've finally done it!" Professor Khan's hands now on his head.
.....
"Hey, everyone's staring because of you." Lapis reported. "Walk a bit farther away."
"Well...It's probably not all me, you know? Lapis." Lain called walking behind Lapis. He was a Hereis who was as popular as Chevel. He had long purple hair braided at the end and always had a smile on. "Do you know what I saw during my lesson today? It was a baby upi. It was so cute, but apparently it becomes a middle rank demon when it grows up." Lain spoke in a light tone.
"...Hey. Are you boasting because you're getting individual lessons? Isn't that right?" Lapis was pissed.
"No,no." Lain turned his attention outside. He had spotted Chevel with a couple of Klads. Leaning over the balcony, he called to Chevel down below. "Hadelio!"
"Don't call him!" Lapis called from behind.
"HIya." Lain waved his hand, smiling.
Chevel twisted his head upward, meeting Lain's greeting. "...Lain." Chevel now noticed Lapis behind Lain. "You're still hanging out with that forever Idun kid?" Chevel asks. "What low standard for a friend."
"Ugh! Who's he calling low standard?" Lapis called, not pleased with Chevel's presence.
"Hadelio! Lapis says you're disgusting!" Lain called out to Hadelio through his grinning face.
"Is this funny to you?" Lapis was holding in his anger.
"Pathetic. I don't have time to waste on you." Chevel turns and leaves.
.....
Lidusis and Rood were now being interrogated by Profesor Khan and Rowell, though Professor Khan seemed to be doing all the talking.
"From what i hear from the students...The hole in the mana board...And the unconscious middle classmen were all...A single person's doing. Though i don't believe it." Professor Khan looked to Rood. "Is that true? Mr. Rood Chrishi?"
Rood laid on the desk where he clutched his stomach and forced a pretend sickness. "Ha...I...Don't understand...What you..."
"Like i thought, you should go see the doctor and get a proper-" Professor Khan anticipated.
"He's fine." Professor Rowell interrupted.
"How do you know, professor Rowell-"
"Aren't you...A magician?" Professor Rowell asks, alarming Rood and Lidusis.
Rood did nothing but keep his head on the table.
"Again...What stupid things are you saying, professor? If Mr. Chrishi was a magician, why would he be here?"
Rood glances at professor Rowell who just stared at him, anticipating his response. "Uh...Excuse me. The ones in the wrong...Are the middle class...So may we return...To class now? I haven't been feeling well for a while..." Rood produced a fake cough along the lie.
"No." Professor Rowell said, watching Rood.
"But...I...Was just so surprised when the mana stone started flying everywhere and...I can't remember anyth-" Rood's face went pale.
"Cut the crap." Professor Rowell demanded.
Rood was left with no other excuses.
"Well first...Since professor Baise said he'd take care of the Klad students behind the incident...Until then, Mr Chrishi and Mr. Artian may go back to class.
Rood and Lidusis left the intense professor, skittering away. Reaching the hallway, Rood spotted chevel with the Klad victims. Chevel notices Rood too, and Lidusis. They look at each other for a while, but Rood smirks, leaving Chevel blank.
"Come on. Let's go, Lidusis." Rood said.
Lidusis had frozen in place after spotting Chevel. Rood noticed that and decided to take measures. They walk away leaving Chevel behind. Lidusis's pace stops and Rood was skeptical.
"What's wrong?" Rood asked.
"From now on...Worse things could happen. I'll...Bring you misfortune." Lidusis brought his head down.
"Is that a curse?" Rood asks. "Unfortunate my ass. You saw that right? I don't really want to say this myself...But I'll be fine even if a hundred of those guys come at me." Rood points at Lidusis. "So, don't worry about me and worry about yourself, got it? How do you plan on surviving in this cruel world with that personality of yours?"
"You...Don't understand. You don't understand anything."
"Yeah, I don't. What you're thinking or what happened to you. I don't understand any of it. "Don't worry about me.", "Don't mind me." Stop saying those...And just ask for help."
Lidusis lifts his head.
"Then no matter what happens, I'll help you."
Lidusis was speechless. He couldn't find what to say. "Don't...Don't need it."
Rood couldn't speak and just smiled at Lidusis. "Reaally?" Rood spoke, his voice cracking.
.....
The classroom was filled with worried chatter. Mainly about being targets for Hereis or being shunned by the other classes. Blaming Lidusis for all what had just happened. There was even talk about making Lidusis quit school, and Lin couldn't take it anymore.
"Stop!" Lin screamed, slamming her desk. "Why is everyone so selfish? Why do you guys only care about yourself? Did it feel bad when the other class ignored you? Then what about Artian whom everyone ignored...As a monster? How do you think he felt? We ignored him saying he was a monster...But doesn't everyone know...He's no different from us.
"Bu-But, you've seen it too. That day in the library." An Idun kid called. "Artian was wrapped in black flares. And his body wasn't human."
"That's..." Lin stuttered.
"Illusion magic." Another girl called. She was the one who had directed Rood to Lidusis. She sat with her book still in her hand, despite all the hammering. "I've been thinking about it. It's a possibility. I hear Chevel Phon Hadelio specializes in illusionary and mental magic. There were tons of Klads with mana stones and with Hereis skills." She shut her book close. "Wouldn't it have been easy to show Iduns like us an illusion? Well, it probably doesn't matter to you anyway. Monster or not...You're just afraid of Chevel Phon Hadelio....Of the Hereis."
"w-What? What are you saying, Iel. You're no different than the rest of us!" Another Idun erupted.
"Yeah...You're right. But the situation's different now." Iel stood. "Seems like everyone forgot because of the shock. Rood Chrishi. If it's him, he should be able to change the current situation." Iel kept her dull look on.
Then, as if on cue, Rood and Lidusis entered. The entire class stared at them, as if they were something unusual. Iel approached Rood and stood in front of him, not sure what to do.
"Monster. Or rather...Lidusis, was it? And also, Rood Chrishi." Iel extended her hand in greeting. "I'm Iel. It's a bit late, but nice to meet you."
Murmurs erupted from the crowd of Iduns. They were all worried, but they decided to go along.
"I...Uh. I'm...Called Noidin. If it's not too late, nice to meet you." An Idun reported. And like that, more and more spoke. Introducing themselves one by one, and exchanging greetings with Lidusis.
"This...Is going better than I thought." Rood thinks.
