Flashback

"...Ther." Ibriel called. "Brother!"  She looked away from the window.

Young Chevel Phon Hadelio balanced his face on his hand. The rocky carriage had rocked him to sleep. He snapped awake to see Ibriel glaring at him.

  "Huh? What?" Chevel asked.

"Gosh! What are you thinking?!" Ibriel brought her face to the window again. "Anyway, we're almost there."

Chevel simply yawns. "Oh yeah. The one you told me about, Ledu? Idu? I'll be able to meet whoever it was." He brings his hand down and crosses his legs.

"It's Lidusis!" She corrects him as if he had mispronounced her name. "Chevel, you idiot!" She brushes it aside and smiles warmly. "Anyway, this time for sure, I'm going to become his friend!" Her gold hair dances as she turns to face the window again.

They arrive soon later. Ibriel exits the carriage in an eager manner, while Chevel follows behind her. At the entrance stood Lidusis's brother who introduced himself to Ibriel and Chevel.

"Welcome,Hadelio." He greeted. "The last imperial party was really fun. It's nice to see you again."

"Yeah, same to you." Chevel greeted back.

Ibriel spots Lidusis and gasps. He stood behind a pillar, half hidden, half exposed. She skitters off to him without a second thought, leaving behind Chevel and Lidusis's brother.

Chevel releases a sigh. "Sorry. She's a bit energetic as you can see."

"No." He smiled. "It's nice to see."

It was sundown and the sky was painted a gold yellow. Chevel stood, watching Ibriel and Lidusis. They seemed to be getting along well, though it just seemed like Ibriel was doing all the talking. Lidusis in his own manner, just clutched his leg and listen to Ibriel as she plucked flowers. Chevel wasn't sure of the fact why Lidusis seemed more uptight even though he was also an Artian like his brother.

"Ibriel. It's almost time to go." Chevel advanced towards Ibriel and Lidusis.

"Chevel. Shouldn't you at least say hello to Lidusis." Ibriel asks.

Chevel said nothing for a while, but finally greeted with such menacing aura that Lidusis had to leave.

"Ah. Lidusis!" Ibriel called after him.

Chevel wondered the halls of the mansion in search of Lidusis. It was at that very moment when Ibriel refused to go home until Chevel found and brought back Lidusis. Seeing as how his sister was serious, Chevel knew he was more or less, going in search of Lidusis.

"Hadelio." Chevel turned to see Lidusis's brother along with Lispen. "I thought you'd be gone by now. Did something happen?"

"Well, Kind of. It's your brother..."

His expression changed.

"Ibriel wanted to goodbye before leaving," Chevel continued. "But I can't find him anywhere."

"...My brother? You mean Lis?" He uttered in a cold tone.

"Yeah. Your brother, Lidusis. Do you know where he is?"

"Well, I'm not sure." He grinned. "He likes being alone, so he hides frequently."

Chevel clutched his head in a depressing manner. "Really?"

Lidusis's brother advanced, now in front of Chevel. "Hey. Hadelio. I'll give you a piece of advice." His expression changed again. To the same cold and frigid tone. "Don't get too close to Lidusis. He's actually not my brother." He tapped Chevel on the shoulder and walked by. "He's a monster." Lispen gave a little bow to Chevel and left.

                               .....

"You're going to the Artians' place again?" Marquis Hadelio asked. "Why don't you just live there."

 "Really? Can I?" Ibriel glittered.

"No!" Marquis reported. He clutched his head. "Ha...Duke Artian really pulled one over me in the meeting today. You kids don't understand how your father feels."

Ibriel couldn't care less. She walked towards the door. "I'll be back later!" She left.

Marquis only remained silent, not sure what to do.

After arriving at the Artians' household, Ibriel dragged along Lidusis with her. Chevel was left alone, but wondered into the Artians' library.

"Hadelio. So this is where you were." Lidusis's brother stood behind him. "Where's your sister?"

Chevel closed the book he had been inspecting. "Um...Probably with Lidusis."

He reamined silent for a while, but then spoke. "Hadelio. You did not heed my advice from last time." His icy turquoise eyes gleamed.

Chevel became uncomfortable. He placed the book back in place and turned to face him again. "...Hey. Why are you talking about your brother like that? It's not like I care about that nonsense you were sprouting. But from what I can tell, it's probably better for me to stay away from you." Chevel turns his back and leaves.

Young Lidusis sat at the table. He held a silver spoon, gripped in his hand. With him was his brother. He was well acquainted, holding a napkin in his left hand, and a fork in the right. He glances at Lidusis who did nothing but stare at his food.

"Lis. Why aren't you eating? Don't you like eating with me?" He wiped his mouth with his napkin.

Lidusis didn't respond, but instead continues staring at his food.

"Well, fine." His brother says coldly. "Anyway. There was a really nice flower in the garden." He forced a smile.

Lidusis looks up.

"Ibriel, was it? She'll probably like it a lot." He brought his smile to a grin. "It looked really pretty. Make sure to show it to her."

Lidusis looked at his brother with hopeful eyes.

The next day, Lidusis had done exactly what his brother said. And as always, Chevel only received a shy "Hi." From Lidusis. He left the two alone and went on his own adventure. Lidusis brought Ibriel to the flowers. They were assorted with yellow and orange, carrying a green stem that connected it to the ground. Ibriel smiled, her yellow gold eyes gleaming. Behind, Lidusis exhaled a relieved smile. Ibriel was always there no matter how engrossed Lidusis was.

Ibriel reached for the flower, only to now realize it was never a flower, but what was a low class demon that had a rough resemblance to a stone that had morphed out of the flower. It grabbed Ibriel from her waiste, it's red eyes glistening.

Chevel walked down the steps that led to mansion. It was now sundown again, and Chevel was ready to leave. He walked over to the spot where Lidusis and Ibriel always played, but they were nowhere to be found. Releasing a frustrated sigh, Chevel continued his search. He checked behind the yard, went back inside the building, and even checked in the library which was stupid because Ibriel never liked to read as much. He exhaled heavily and decided to try the garden. Ibriel had always liked flowers. Inching the garden, Chevel found there to be black smears and flares all over, accompanied with a red substance. When it finally settled, Chevel could make out Lidusis covered in blood with battered clothes and weak eyes. Then on the ground, Chevel saw Ibriel. She was laying still, not moving. Panic rushed over Chevel as he saw the blood smeared on her. He rushed over, tears already streaming down his cheeks, eyes opened wide in shock. He picked up the unmoving Ibriel and laid her on his lap.

Lidusis just watched, not quite understanding what just happened. Everything had been a blur since the monster got a hold of Ibriel. He found Chevel with Ibriel. He looked at Lidusis with menacing eyes and with a sobbing voice, he proclaimed, "Your brother was right. You really are a monster. Monster!"
