Chapter 13 - Rescue
After the dragon ate Professor Heil, it flew off leaving the crowd staring in shock. Thinking that the danger was gone, Sky walked up to Rood and dispelled the barrier around the students. "Whose side do you think the dragon was on?" Sky questioned.
"I don't know... I don't know if it was even involved in this incident." Rood explained as he turned around to look at the students. He was startled as the students were staring at them with sparkles shining in their eyes. He nudged Sky to get her attention and she turned around, looking at Rood. "What?"
Rood whispered to her as he pointed towards the students. "Why are they staring at us like that?" Sky blinked several times before looking back at the students. A few seconds passed by and the students cheered out happily for their triumphant victory against the evil creature.
"The black magician won!!!!"
"That fight was awesome! The silver magician was super strong!!!"
"They chased the evil Professor Heil away!"
Surprised by their cheers, Sky's eyes widened slightly as she had never imagined that she would be praised as well. A soft smile found a way onto her lips as she felt delighted to be recognized as a magician, rather than an nobody imperial princess.
Suddenly, a portal appeared and the students turned to look towards it. Sensing the mana emitting out from the portal, Rood quickly dragged Sky along and hid behind a boulder with her. Lidusis and Chevel were also behind the boulder, but Chevel was unconscious as he hit his head when Rood dropped him onto the ground.
From the portal, a group of magicians wearing grey cloaks came through with Tessiana, Professor Kan, Yutiarien, Lapis, Linus and Cynthia. The magicians had symbols of the Tower on their cloaks. Recognizing the Tower symbol, the students were overjoyed that they were finally being rescued.
Behind the boulder, Sky looked at Rood confusedly and questioned him. "Hey. Why are we hiding??"
"That portal. It's the tower's mana. You wouldn't want them to drag us back for questioning, would you?" Realizing Rood's intentions, Sky nodded. Now, the most important thing was to release their awakening states and return to their student persona. However, Lidusis was with them and had been staring at them ever since they hid behind the boulder.
Seeing that Lidusis was still staring at them, Rood cleared his throat and explained patiently. "Since the other magicians are here, you should be safe now. Still, it's dangerous to be alone so go back to the other students. Now then..." Rood stood up and was about to jump off the edge of the peak but Lidusis grabbed onto his sleeve tightly. Rood looked down at his sleeve and turned to Lidusis. Did Lidusis realize our identities?
As Professor Heil was taken by the dragon, the magic maintaining the tower began to dissipate and the structure was starting to crumble. Seeing this, the tower magicians began to discuss ways to save the students. However, they had too many options and could not make a decision quickly. As the ground under her began to crack, Tessiana grew annoyed as she pulled Yutiarien close and gave her suggestion. "Once it collapses, they will fall. We will catch them."
Understanding the meaning behind her suggestion, one of the tower magicians nodded. He gathered the other tower magicians and together, they combined their manas together, preparing to cast a spell.
"Wait. How are we going to catch them!?" Professor Kan, not knowing what Tessiana meant.
The tower magician, who agreed to Tessiana's suggestion, replied as he focused on the casting of the spell. "We will give them wings."
As the structure of the tower became increasingly unstable, the ground beneath the students began to tremble. The students lost their balance and fell off the edge of the peak, screaming in panic. Iel closed her eyes tightly as she braced for impact. Soon, a warm feeling appeared on her back and she opened her eyes in surprise as a magic circle was on her back, allowing her to float in the air safely.
She looked around as a magic circle appeared behind each students' back as everyone floated safely in the air. The tower magicians lowered the magic circles slowly as the students descended onto the ground safely.

As the tower began to collapse, Lidusis and Chevel, who were closest to the edge of the peak, fell off. Sky's eyes widened and she jumped off the peak without thinking. "I'LL GET CHEVEL! YOU GET LIDUSIS!"
"LIDUSIS!!!!" Rood shouted out as he jumped off the peak, reaching his hand out to Lidusis. Realizing he couldn't reach Lidusis in time, Rood released a large wave of mana beneath Lidusis. The mana softened the collision impact and laid him gently on the ground. At the same time, Sky formed a chain with her mana and caught Chevel's arm and pulled him close to her. Placing mana on both feet, she landed on the ground safely with Chevel in her arms.
After landing on the ground, Rood took back the mana beneath Lidusis and rushed to him, checking for injuries. Luckily, there wasn't a scratch on him. Seeing Lidusis was safe, Rood heaved a sigh of relief.
"Is Lidusis okay??" Sky asked.
Rood nodded. "Yeah. Just unconscious..."
"Good. Chevel is unconscious too. Let's release our awakening states before they wake up." Sky suggested as she laid Chevel next to Lidusis.
Rood nodded in agreement and stood up. "My name is Blow. Release awakening."
"My name is Lotus. Release awakening."
After releasing their awakening state, their manas return to their bodies and the duo return to their original looks. Feeling tired after fighting with Professor Heil and multiple demons, Sky stretched out her arms and legs.
Without them realizing, Chevel woke up at that time and saw the whole process of how they released their awakening states. Gapping at the sight before him, he accidentally made a shuffling sound as his sleeve grazed the ground. Hearing the sound, Rood snapped towards Chevel and narrowed his eyes at him.
Oh shit.... Chevel thought as he realized his mistake.
"R- Rood Chrishi! Sky Ackers! W- Why did- erm. I saw nothing! I swear I saw nothing!" Chevel vehemently denied what he saw.
Sky sighed and facepalmed. "He definitely saw us, Rood. What should we do? Silence him?" How is this guy a Heresis again?
Chevel shuddered in fear at her words as he quickly sat up and backed away from them. He could not believe his crazy bad luck. Not only was he nearly killed by his demonic professor, but he also uncovered the secret identities of two first-ranked magicians. Worst of all... he had actually tried to bully them in Helios.
Rood sighed and slowly stalked towards him, bending down, he smiled brightly. Rood placed a hand on Chevel's shoulder. "I believe you saw nothing. And... even if you did see something, you wouldn't tell anyone... right? I mean who would believe a person rambling nonsense?"
Chevel understood the threat behind the words and nodded quickly. "Y- Yes. I saw nothing! I was unconscious! That's what I would say! I won't tell a soul!" Rood chuckled and stood up, walking away from Chevel and laid next to Lidusis, pretending he was unconscious.
Impressed by Rood's threatening methods, Sky chuckled and patted Chevel's head. "Good then! Chevel! Remember to tell the tower magicians that we had fainted from shock, okay?^^"
She let out an innocent smile and grabbed Chevel's arm, pulling him over to Lidusis' side. "Come on, Chevel! We have to be better actors. Act unconscious, would you?" Glancing at the innocent smile she was wearing on her face, Chevel nodded quickly and laid down next to Lidusis, pretending he was unconscious. Now, he envied Lidusis tremendously. At the very least, Lidusis did not go have to undergo such mental torture.

In the eastern corner of Ishuella, a strong scent of blood emanated through the air. The brown-haired demon walked in and cringed at the sight of blood covering the trees while pinching his nose in disgust.
"Strong scent of blood... What did you do?" The demon glanced at the man wearing Helios uniform. But the man remained silent as his back faced the demon.
"... I know you've returned to your original form just now. But... Who were you looking for just now?" The demon inquired curiously.
This time, the man replied. "I wasn't looking for anyone. I just wanted to fly around. It's been a while."
The demon nodded and scanned around his surroundings but something shocking had caught his sight. Professor Heil's body was mutilated badly and he was no longer breathing. "Ah!!!! Why did you kill him?! You should have left him alive! Now how am I supposed to report back to Ruby?"
Seeing the demon freaking out and chastising him for what he had done, the man became irritated. "Silence!" The demon flinched at the man's authoritative voice and stopped talking as the man stood up from where he sat.
"Elzeble. You can tell Ruby that I killed him because I found him annoying and do not for even once think of us as equals. The only reason why I am following Rubymonter... is because I have someone to find and kill." Dio's reply was as cold as the freezing mountains in the Demon World as he stepped over Professor Heil's body and walked off.
