Chapter 10 - Acceptance
After the fight in the assembly hall, Rood, Lidusis and Sky were sent to the detention room by Professor Rowell, otherwise known as Tessiana, and Professor Kan. Professor Kan stared at the three students before him as he slowly listed out their "crimes" in the assembly hall.
"From what we heard from the students, the hole in the target board and the unconscious Klads are done by two people...... Is that true, Mr. Ackers? Mr. Chrishi?" Sky looked at Rood who was still pretending to be sick beside her and sweatdropped. Damn, he is good at acting......
The duo had denied the claims and with Rood's powerful acting skills and wide known reputation as a 'chronically ill' student, Professor Kan was convinced that they were not involved in the incident. Initially, he felt the need to take Rood to the infirmary but Tessiana stopped him. She saw clearly how Rood had fought in the sports hall and was aware that he was acting. Curious about Rood, she decided not to bring it up.
Slowly, Tessiana's gaze drifted towards Sky and Sky quickly looked down, pretending she was scared of her. Holy shit, please Professor Rowell.... Don't recognize me. I saved you from Shicmuon. If you expose me now, father will drag me back to Ruon! Please I don't wanna go back just yet!
"...... Aren't you two magicians?" Tessiana spoke out her suspicions as the duo's shoulders tensed up, praying that she did not recognize them from the auction hall. Luckily for them, Professor Kan was not convinced.
"Professor Rowell. If they were magicians, there wasn't a need for them to attend Helios in the first place!" Professor Kan explained, but Tessiana remained suspicious of the duo. She was sure of what she saw at the sports hall. As she had no evidence, she had no choice but to let them go.
"Anyway... We know that the Klads were at fault this time. We will duly punish them for their actions. As for you three... You can be dismissed back to your classroom." Professor Kan smiled at them gently, knowing that the Klads' actions were atrocious this time.
Sky smiled back gratefully at Professor Kan and left with Lidusis and Rood. As they walked back to the classroom together, Lidusis stopped in his steps midway. Not hearing steps from Lidusis, the duo stopped and looked at him.
"Lidusis? What's wrong?... And stop looking down like that. It will just make you look like you're in the wrong." Rood sighed.
"Both of you... And Dio. You should stop getting close to me. I will bring misfortune to you." Sky frowned at his words. She placed her hands on her hips and sighed as she looked up seriously at him.
"Lidusis...... I do not believe in that. But if you think that we would get hurt because of you, don't worry. You saw what happened back there. Rood and I could handle them easily. So...... Do not worry about the Heresis and Klads bullying you, Rood and I got your back no matter what happens, okay?"
Rood nodded in agreement, "Next time, ask for help, Lidusis. No matter what happens, I will help you."
Lidusis went silent for a moment before responding, "I don't need help."
Sky frowned slightly at his insistence. Slowly, she felt an evil presence next to her and she looked towards Rood. She flinched as she could feel an evil aura enveloping around him. Rood cracked his knuckles and gave a sweet smile at Lidusis. "Oh really?"
"RUN LIDUSIS!!!!!!! ROOD IS IN EVIL MODE!" Feeling the danger from Rood's smile, Sky laughed and quickly grabbed Lidusis' hand. They ran back into the classroom together with Rood chasing behind them. However, the moment the trio stepped into the classroom, it became silent as the students stared at the trio who just came in. Sky let go of Lidusis' hand and looked at Rood, not knowing what to do. Rood, on the other hand, stared silently back at his classmates. The atmosphere became awkward as everyone stared at each other without saying a word.
In the midst of silence, a girl with long white hair and pink eyes walked towards the trio. She was Iel Florel Chrome and she is widely known as the most beautiful girl in Helios. Iel introduced herself to the trio and surprised her classmates as she greeted Lidusis with his real name, instead of calling him "monster".
Soon, more classmates were coming up to them and introducing themselves. Some apologized for their treatment towards Lidusis and thanked him for blocking the mana stones for them. A warm feeling rose upon Lidusis' chest as he stared at the classmates who became more friendly to him. It was the first time that he was widely accepted by others and a small smile slowly curved upon his lips. Sky smiled and high fived Rood, proud of their achievements.
Finally, Lidusis was getting accepted by our peers.

At night, Lidusis was sleeping peacefully on his bed while Rood was awake as he recalled the events that happened. What a crazy day...
Rood hoped that small changes that happened today would be helpful to Lidusis. Suddenly, a small screeching sound echoed in the air. The door had opened slightly. Rood became alert and quickly pretended to sleep.
A dark figure slipped in and floated towards Lidusis. The dark figure had glowing blue eyes and an appearance similar to that of a reaper. The figure reached out to Lidusis with its ghostly hand made of shadows.
"It's not too far off. So surrender....... Despair........ Suffer...... And thus-"
Rood silently came up behind the figure and wrapped him tightly with the blankets, catching him in surprise. He looked down at the figure before him and narrowed his eyes coldly. "You... who are you?"
"........."
The figure did not reply. Rood watched in surprise as the figure had disappeared through the blankets. What the heck...

The next day, Rood grabbed Sky's arm and pulled her into the storage room. After coming to the storage room often to discuss their plans to make friends with Lidusis, it became a new hiding spot for their group. Caught in surprise, she looked up and raised an eyebrow. "Rood? What's up?? And why so secretive?"
Rood let go of her arm and explained. "I saw something lurking around Lidusis last night. It was a shadowy figure with blue glowing eyes. It doesn't have a physical form so when I caught it, it disappeared."
"...... Do you know what it is?" Sky asked. She had never heard or seen such a creature or demon before.
Rood shook his head. "I don't know, it almost seemed like a lump of mana and that's strange. I'm worried that something terrible would happen to Lidusis."
"So what do you think we should do?" Sky watched as Rood pondered for a few minutes.
"...... Let's not do anything at the moment but we need to look out for Lidusis more. He is finally making friends. We can't let this affect him." Sky nodded in agreement and they went back to the classroom together.
In class, Professor Heil began his briefing regarding the practical training session that will occur in the Magician's Tower, in short, the Tower. The Tower is famously known as the largest magical organization that protects the Kansiol Empire. Its influence, however, further extended out to the other empires, including Ruon.
Hearing the Tower's name once again, Sky became more attentive. She had never been to the Tower before. But her parents were not fond of the Tower, particularly the late Queen of Ruon. She recalled that the late queen warned her frequently to stay away from the tower.
I wonder why... mother was so wary of the Tower.
