Rational Selfishness
Do you remember going to the Red Rooster, and having a few dollars to grab a crystal clear Pepsi, some five cent candies and a couple surprise bags? Well that's what it almost felt like for the Powers Clan when Mikey returned with all sorts of grocery bags filled to the brim.
Tabitha was slightly taken a back by her son bringing home some food, but didn't question his antics.
Mikey handed a bag to Eddie which was solely for him. He told Eddie there were some books that looked like comics and some candy and shit, just for him.
Lee did the same for his siblings and they decided to Bbq the gas station hotdogs as a little treat.
While they were doing so, officer O'Leary pulled up down the street and interrupted the Powers family dinner by hauling off Mikey.
O'Leary explained that Mikey was caught on camera robbing the gas station. Tabitha tried to reason with O'Leary, by stating he wasn't the same as the black man who killed someone. They were a simple good family! O'Leary agreed and explained they'll hold him for a night and by morning Mikey would be released.
Gracie' family were a bit taken back by the recent bodies found in the creek. So much so that their father was ready to sign over the selling of his property. It seemed as though it may be time to get with the times and join the movement of revitalization.
Grade eight was proving to be something of new affairs for young Eddie as he developed feelings for Gracie, more than just friends.
Junior Prom was coming and he felt inclined to ask Gracie to be his date.
Carney returned within a week of Mikey's arrest. Though upset with his son, he was more upset that the Sand Niggers had nothing better to do than take jobs away from he and his friends.
He was laid off due to cheaper labor coming in from the East.
"Fuck that prick of the gas station, hey son! We gravel while they flourish!"
Carney was irate about the middle easterners taking over their lives!
Eddie found it hard to not pay attention to the changing world around him. His parents were struggling financially and Mikey was taking it upon himself to try and work and help his family out.
He would find himself captivated by this one book that Mikey stole, Atlas Shrugged. The book imprinted the idea of rational selfishness and free will into Eddie. Now he can see why Mikey robbed the gas station in a whole new light.
Gracie's sister Genie got sick the same time as little Lola. Whooping cough had struck the trailer park.
Lee did his best to keep Lola healthy, but with no insurance he couldn't cover the hospital bills. At the time, it wasn't fully comprehend able that the reason little Lola had to die was based around who could pay for better care.
An unmarked grave, is where she lay.
