Have you ever just sat and played?
Like actually played!
Not sexually.
Growing up in Rolling Hills Trailer Park for Eddie was something out of an eighties movie. Besides the home furnishings, there was action and adventure.
He'd seek thrill in searching out old building with his friends. Break through cracks of fences to visit what he and his friends called the Witches Lair- someone's old farmhouse.
He found fun in big industrial garbages seeking random things. Reading and writing were a hobby at home, all easy ways to escape.
During his youth escaping was for fun.
During Mikey's youth escaping began with fun but lead him down a different sort of play eventually.
The boys had friends within Rolling Hills, that they grew up with.
There were the Anderson kids, Betty's Boys with Gracie & Genie down the way.
Bruce & Barry were twins they lived with their single mom Betty in a two room trailer. That trailer had seen some times. Eddie never met their father, but Mikey could vaguely remember him. That's cause he disappeared time and again with the Anderson kids Mum.
Leroy, his sister Lola and older brother Lee took care of themselves. Lee was a bad ass and Mikey and him formed their own little club. Leroy often was seen hanging with Eddie and their gal pal potential crush Gracie.
Genie & Gracie had both their parents at home. Their family appeared to be a struggling middle class just situated in the park. They had all the cool toys for both boys and girls as one from the eighties would describe.
Trucks, soldiers , Barbie's and play houses! These branded boy and girl toys didn't have meaning in the girls home.
They just got to play. The other kids would come and simply play until sundown.
The street lights would come on and it would signify time to head home.
As Mikey would get on in his teen years he began to more frequently not partake in the sundown rule. Tabitha and Carney didn't seem to bothered by this either.
When Eddie was ten and Mikey then seventeen, Tabitha lost her job at the Mann Munchies because they began hiring in foreign workers to cut costs. Tabitha was an easy layoff.
With no high school diploma or educational backing, Mann Munchies was one of the few jobs that helped Tabitha pay her bills. Carney didn't make to much driving truck either.
School lunches became a thing of controversy, one that Eddie didn't fully see before.
With the new neighbourhood arising, came new ideas and jokes on him. Peanut butter sandwiches, a juice box and some cookies was laughed at for being a poor boy meal. Well according to the new kids.
Even clothing became something of ridicule all of a sudden other kids made fun of his hand me downs.
Riding a bike to school became dull.
The forms of play changed!
Eddie's world was shifting as deemed fit to everyone but him.
