What Now?

"Black rover~! Du do, do du do du do do do do du do du do~ do do, do du do du dooooo, Black Rover ~!" Y/n hummed as he swung his arms up and down. Mereoleona led as the two walked through the forest. Y/n with a nod and a smile, tilting his head to the side.

Y/n asked, "so... what do we do now?"

Mereoleona didn't look at him, but seemed neutral to his humming and positive attitude. She hummed a bit of the same tune Y/n was to herself before she snapped out of it and scoffed, "back to my camp."

Y/n winced, looking at some of the burn marks he made. "Uh, I think that part of the forest may be destroyed."

Mereoleona looked over her shoulder, "you really think I would sleep near by my camp?"

Y/n immediately replied, "yes. Someone like you, I figured you wouldn't worry about stuff like that."

Mereoleona turned her head back forward, not replying to the man. Y/n held his hands behind his head, "man, this is awkward. I thought we were having a conversation, but, it seems like I was wrong. Maybe I hit a sore spot."

Mereoleona's face couldn't be seen for Y/n was walking behind her, "why so quiet?"

Y/n's arms dropped to the side. His guard breaking. "Huh?"

Mereoleona smirked, "we were having a conversation, weren't we?"

Y/n's eyes wandered at the smirk, trying to figure out the game Mereoleona was playing. He couldn't tell if the Lioness had already done her trap, or if the Rhino was just dumb. He liked to believe he was smarter than most, but he also knew that he was, of course, a guy. That leads him to some level of stupidity by default. "Yeah, just not sure what to talk about."

"I see." Mereoleona said, taking more steps forward. And just like that, the silence came back around. It wasn't a bad silence though like before, it was a comforting one. Mereoleona then raised her head to the sky, and did so for a while.

Long enough to where Y/n felt the need to check on her, "Hey, everything okay?"

"Just remembered, we don't have enough food for two people." Mereoleona smiled, "hunting time!"

Y/n raised an eyebrow, "what are we hunting for?"

Mereoleona punched her hands together. "We're hunting for thick or thin meat. Size doesn't really matter."

It was silent again, and Y/n shook. The corners of his mouth started to rise as he was holding in a laugh. "Pffft-!"

Mereoleona looked at him annoyed and punches him, square in the head, "I DIDN'T MEAN IT LIKE THAT!"

Y/n comically flies back, "GAH-!" he heads toward the river and stops himself from landing on it. He smiled and looked at the stream, "Hey! Merelo-...Merlio....Mereoleona!"

"What is it?" Mereoleona looked at him with annoyance, it hasn't even been a minute since his comment and now he can't even say her name? Her folded arms were a clear enough sign to be cautious with his words.

"Is...is it cool if I try upstream?" Y/n asked the lioness as his curved finger pointed upwards. Mereoleona took a few seconds to look at the stream before looking back at Y/n, silence rang out as Y/n really wasn't sure where to put his hands.

Eventually, "Do what you want!" Mereoleona loudly shouted.

Y/n smiled before he did a jump and steam formed from underneath his shoes. He then started to surf upwards, towards the start of the stream. He waved, "be back soon!"

"Hm." Mereoleona kept walking and looked at the steam. As if it was calling to her, she put her hand through it, but it didn't effect it in a certain way. With her curiosity satisfied, she looked around and sniffed the air. She caught a whiff something and smiled, "found ya." she then thought back to the steam user, "what an interesting guy."

Y/n laughed as he did a barrel roll in the sky, even doing a loop. He soon heard the stream behind him, turning his head, Y/n realized he got too caught up in the fun and overshot it. "Whoops."

Y/n landed on the ground, the ground steamed as Y/n's footprints made a dent into the landscape. He walked until he got to the stream. "Ah, look at those fish. Wish 'Natural Mana' could make me a fishing rod right about now..."

Y/n shrugged and crouched on the grass. He waited until one jumped out of the water, to which he perked up 40 minutes later when one did. "GOTCHA! VAPOR FERRUM!"

Y/n launched forward and grabs the fish, but the steam hands evaporated the fish from the inside out. Y/n winced, "eeeeeh....yikes. Um...."

Y/n saw a bear and it's child looking for fish. Y/n looked at the fish and then lifted it up, "want this?"

The tiny bear let out a tiny roar before Y/n smiled, the big bear gently took the fish. Y/n ruffled the tiny one's hair before he went back to crouching and staring at the stream. The tiny bear tilted its head and did the same as Y/n. Mama bear shook her head before leaping into the water and showing Y/n, she grabbed a fish with her claws before it slipped out. "Pfft-!"

The bear looked at Y/n to see him laughing as Mama bear splashed him. "Hey, hey," the water got him wet, Y/n raised his hands in surrender. "Alright! Alright! You win!"

The mama bear tried again and Y/n watched closely. Against the stream, the mama bear caught a fish, throwing it onto the grass. Y/n smiled, "ah, so that's how you do it in these parts. It's different in each part." The mama bear went back on dry land and waited for Y/n to go in. The mama bear gestured towards the water, "go in? I'm not scared, that's crazy."

The stream started to pick up, Y/n gulped. Y/n leaned over to look at the bottom, "oh boy...how deep is that now?"

The bear rolled its eyes before it pushed Y/n in. "WAH-? BBLGHBBN-!?"

Y/n started to spin in the steam as he went down stream. The bears laughed as Y/n smiled. "Thanks! You guys are still jerks!"

The baby bear climbed onto Mama's back and they went off with the fish. Y/n's grimoire shined silver as it showed a new page, "wow, would you look at that!" Y/n started to move his hand, to try and maneuver in the water. BELIEVE IT OR NOT.... Y/n has not been put in a situation like this. Y/n started to spiral in the water. "AAAAAHH!"

Mereoleona was carrying a wolf on her back when she heard something. The cries of something. "Hm? Coming from the water?"

Mereoleona walked forward to see Y/n in the stream out of control, but in her mind, she saw a rhino doing down stream. She stood there for a few minutes as if to process what she just saw. "...What...?"

"RAAAAAH!!!" a young man had a sword pointed at a young boy and an elder. A small rural village is shown, as the land was a barren brown and yellow. Little green touched the land.

"Please, don't hurt us!" the boy said as the old man shook.

"What else do you want, Kido?!" the elder shouted as Kido raised his hand.

"Nothing personal, just business." Kido raised his black sword before a loud scream was heard in the distance. Kido paused, "do you hear something?"

"aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH-!!! WOFF!" Y/n landed face first with a bunch of fish around. The three villagers looked at him.

"Uh...you alright there?" Kido asked as Y/n pushed up from the ground. He had a fish in his mouth, Kido sweatdropped and pointed to his mouth, "you...you got a thing..."

"Mmmm-? Ah-!" Y/n took the fish out of his mouth, "thanks."

"No problem, now leave." Kido says before he goes to slice the two again. Y/n suddenly appeared in front of the two and raised his forearm. The blade broke on it as Kido was shocked, "what?! He broke it with just a block." Y/n smiled and started to bounce his heels up and down. "Just who is this guy?"

"You done talking to yourself or...?" Y/n taunted as the man gritted his teeth.

"Don't play with me!" Kido threw the broken sword at Y/n, who caught it with two fingers. Kido's grimoire shined as Kido gained stones on his hands. "RAAAAAH!!" Kido slammed the rocks on Y/n's face.

Y/n didn't flinch, the rocks broke one by one, trailing up the side of the arm. Kido clicked his teeth before he stomped the ground, Y/n slammed his fist with steam into the ground. Steam rose form the ground all around Kido, Kido brushed the heat of the steam before seeing Y/n's monstrous grin. "He's a monster! A devil maybe!?"

"Time to test run this new spell!" Y/n said as he looked into his grimoire. Y/n carefully read it while punching and flipping away from all the rock spikes coming up from the ground.

"Whoa." the kid was in amazement.

"Get back..!" the elder was pushing his villager to the side.

Y/n hummed, "okay, got it! Rhinoceros Crimen!!"

Y/n surrounds himself in steam that's shaped like a rhino and charges forward with a blinding dash. Kido formed obsidian black walls from the ground, but Y/n charged through all of them. Kido's eyes grew wide, "this...! This can't be!"

Y/n slammed into Kido, as his body rolled in the dirt, skidding across the ground before he became trapped inside. Y/n stood up straight and crossed his arms. "Hmph, he really didn't know what he was getting himself into. That was too easy."

"What, what monstrous power." the elder said as Y/n looked over his shoulder to see him. The boy's mouth was parted with a gasp as a hand moved him protectively behind the elder, a sweat dripping down the Elder. "What... what now?!" Y/n put his hands to the side and walked towards the two. "What could he possibly want?!"

"Oi." Y/n stated with his feet skidding to a stop.

"Y...Yes?" whimpered the old man as there was a stare down between the two.

"Any chance you have materials to make a sturdy basket?"
.
.
.
"Eh?" the two villagers said of shock.

Y/n ruffled his own hair and smiled, "well, you see," y/n pointed to the fish behind them. "My fish are probably dead now, or not good. Might be fired from all the steam."

"I-I put them in the pond, so you can take them out." the boy muttered, Y/n overheard and smiled.

"Is that so? Thanks a lot!" Y/n said as he clenched his hands. Y/n then looked over at Kido. "Hmm, I'd give him a punishment, but I think this was more of a disagreement, right?" the elder flinched, Y/n titled his head down but kept his eyes in front. "When I was floating down the stream, I happened to see warriors with clutches that looked native to this terrain. Since I blasted forward, they are probably gonna be rushing back here, so there's no need for concern about safety anymore."

"Is he..smart?" analyzed the grandpa, trying to get to the bottom of Y/n's personality. "Or could it simply be because...he's a nice guy... maybe...I've grown too harsh on the villagers."

"Go get the man one of our baskets." the elder said, the boy smiled with nod.

"Yes, elder." the boy ran off into a small shack. Y/n looked at the elder.

"Nice kid. Planning anything for the future?" Y/n asked, while adjusting his robe like jacket.

The elder huffed with a smile, holding his head down. "Not mine, my sister's kid. She passed away some time ago, looking out for him in my own ever since."

"The chief of the village?" Y/n pondered.

"Yes, but Kido here was the son of my brother, banished the other day for stealing from the sacred grounds." the elder explained, glancing at the passed out man. "I wish things could've ended more peacefully."

"Well, you still have a chance." Y/n said.

"Hm?" the elder raised his head, only to glance at Y/n's serious face.

"At the end of the day, you are family. I don't know about you, but I'd want a family that has my back. Although family is not from blood, it's from the bonds and those we trust, maybe try to figure out why he stole something, he might have a reason." Y/n waved his hands around as he spoke, using them to gesture. "I'm not saying he should go unpunished, but I'm saying try to treat him like you did your sister's son. After all," Y/n thought back to the hungry nights as a child, walking in the pouring rain, starving in the forest. "-it's not easy growing up alone. One way or another, be it mentally or physically."

"Here you are!" the boy came back as Y/n smiled. "Fish in and everything."

"Well, thank you!" Y/n crouched down to look at him. He took the bag and put it on his back.

"Hehehe, I also found someone who knows you." the boy added.

Y/n froze with the smile, "eh?"

"Oi." a weight was pressed on Y/n's head. And Y/n, the poor soul, smelled something familiar. The strong scent of brining wood, pine, like a campfire. But that's not all, there was flavors to it. Like cinnamon, amber, and vanilla. There was only one person who could pull a mic of those together.

"Why can't I move?" y/n asked as he was pulled in the arm by a flaming paw. He was turned around to come face to face with the lioness, Y/n smiled, "oh hey."

Mereoleona seemed unamused with her arms. She looked at the old man, the boy, and the young man in the ground. She nodded her head silently, not giving much of an indication to what she was thinking about. She then turned around and started to walk, her fire paw dragging Y/n along. Y/n waved to the men, "oh, guess I'm leaving now! Thank you for the basket!"

The old man was dumbfounded at first, but then gave a hardy laugh. The young boy quickly extended his arm upwards before waving it to the sides, with a big grin on the face, "bye-bye!"

The camera changed to the sky, the baby blue slowly shifted to a midnight purple. A small red speck traveled through the sky, until more flickered in the air. A man's laugh is heard as the camera travels downwards. "Man! This is really good!"

"I'm surprised you actually know how to cook that." Mereoleona said as the camera revealed a campfire. Y/n on one side of the fire, one hand resting on the ground with a cocky smile on his face, the other hand holding a small flask. Mereoleona was laid back, resting an arm on her knee and digging, ripping through the cooked meat and fish.

Y/n laughed again after taking a sip of his flask. "Ahaha, and I'm supposed you know how to cook this meat well. Didn't expect you to get the spices and plants to cook your meat!

"That's what happens when you live out here in the wilderness! Balance is important." Mereoleona stated as she pointed a bone at Y/n.

Y/n had a sweatdrop, "it'd be better if you slowed down just a bit though."

Mereoleona swallowed the meat and tossed another bone into the pile, "that's enough about me. What's your deal?"

Y/n paused with his hand halfway in the air, "what do you mean?"

"Come on, you know what I mean! Like time I saw you, you were a weak noodle! Ahaha, now you're almost as strong as me." Mereoleona stated as she took another bite of the meat.

"I am as strong as you." Y/n cockily smirked before it turned into a solemn expression. "And well, I recall I mentioned getting into some troubles. I was raised in Kikka, although my mother was a blacksmith and my dad was a merchant, we were never able to rise up to being just...commoners, at least to the Nobles."

Mereoleona was silent, holding the meat to the side so she can focus on Y/n, while he continued, "never were a fan of Nobles, another reason I never aimed for being the Wizard King. I was a weak, pathetic noodle, living with no responsibility...that was."

Y/n looked up from the fire to look at Mereoleona, "till you came around, hehe. I trained like hell, I never experienced so much pain. But it worked, I became the strongest there. Although, I still couldn't protect everyone myself. A noble wanted to rebuild his own land on the Kikka homes and shops, I did some of his dirty work so he would stop. Heh, also did some of my own dirty work to stop them from even getting close."

Mereoleona took a second, before she looked at the fire. "what made ya run?"

Y/n looks back at the fire, "the Noble finally had enough deals going south. We fought, I won, and the nobles needed to make an example either out of the city or me in order to prove that commoners can't beat nobles." Y/n out the flask down, picking up some cooked fish and munching on it. "So, I led them out of the city, for years they came, for years I stopped them. But, that's enough about me. You got any siblings?"

Mereoleona was still thinking about Y/n's past, before she snapped out it and responded, "two younger."

"Broleona and younger Broleona." Y/n says and nodded. "I gotcha."

"What?" Mereoleona asked confused.

"That's how you guys refer to each other, right?" Y/n teases.

"We siblings do not go by such names." Mereoleona stated a bit annoyed.

"That would make you, Sisoleona." Y/n says as he immediately got a punch to the face.

"Don't call me that!" She said annoyed, Y/n didn't flinch as Y/n raised a finger.

"Well I need a way to shorten your name. What about Mery?" Y/n asked as Mereoleona removed her fist and shifted away from him. "Mery it is!"

Y/n is then seen in the same tent as Mereoleona, "huh it's been a while since I used one of these. Makes sense since we're near the mountains."

"Alright, let's go to sleep." Mereoleona walks in the tent as Y/n looks at her, and freezes. "What's the matter?"

"Why are you nude?!" Y/n backs up but doesn't cover his eyes.

"This is how I usually sleep, that's not gonna change because you're here. I thought you'd be mature about it since we're both adults." Mereoleona said as she got into the covers.

"Any normal person would be confused!!!" Y/n shouted as he only heard Mereoleona snoring. Except, it sounds more like she is purring. Y/n raised an eyebrow, "you're kidding..."

Y/n turned the other way to try and forget about it, "Jeez, she just does what she wants without a care in the world."

Y/n felt the tent get warm and his eyes got heavy. Falling asleep, Y/n only saw black...that was, until he was suddenly roasting. Y/n's eyes shot open to find all the blankets off the two. Y/n looked around himself to see Mereoleona hugging Y/n in her sleep, "what kinda dream is she having for her to do this? It's kinda cute...Either way! She's burning me alive!!!"

Y/n started to shake but Mereoleona didn't flinch. Y/n tried to roll over but Mereoleona held him on top of her chest. Y/n started to let off steam but Mereoleona just bit the top of Y/n's head. Y/n simply sighed and rested his head in Mereoleona's chest due to the Unbreakable trap. Y/n started to close his eyes, "well, this isn't so bad I guess..."
