The Blacksmith's Child
(Before we start this, I want to get something out of the way. I was never gonna make a story like this, okay never is a strong word. I didn't have any clue what this was until SOMEONE got me liking this show. So before we start, we can blame this story on Royal-of-the-Loyal Blame them for all of this. If I wasn't such a gullible softie, none of this would've happened. As for you Royal, a gift to you, friend. Anyway, you guys didn't come here to hear me, you came to read. Hope you enjoy.)
(2nd Publish; what kinda shit happened where I took this down? Sorry bout that)
"Hm...It looks like a block to me." Y/n said as he crossed his arms. He looked no older than 7. His mother wore a black apron over her body as she sat over an anvil. Glowing metal was seen as she slammed it with her hammer. Shaping it, giving it form.
"Give it a while, kiddo. It's sure gonna turn out okay." she told him as Y/n looked closely. The block started to turn longer and longer. As time went on, he couldn't believe it... but it turned it into a sword. "There. That's five. Now..."
She turned around to look at Y/n as Y/n looked away in fear. "What are you doing in the shop anyway? Don't you wanna play with your friends?"
Y/n looked dead inside. "Hahahahaha... What friends?" "It's that bad, huh?"
Y/n looked at his hands. "Everyone's got cool magic, while I just got a weird one. Even as a 'peasant', I didn't think I'd get something so useless..."
"Idiot!" His mother slammed her fist into the back of his head.
"Ow, ow ow!" Y/n held his head and looked at her. "What was that for?!"
"You're gonna let what you are decide what path you go down?! Are you sure you're my son!?" She shouted at Y/n with mild rage. "Those who don't work hard, don't deserve power! Those who think they deserve power because of their past, birthright, and pride, are those who never see the bigger picture! You don't deserve power, you earn it!"
Y/n looked at his mother with amazement. His mom has always been strong, not just physically for her blacksmith shop, but emotionally too. It's like she always knew what to say to cheer people up, she was wise and strong but not cocky about it. It was hard not to want to be like her. Y/n's mother turned around to get back to work. "I gotta finish these by the end of the night, I'm probably gonna be late tonight. Go check on your father for me, would ya?"
"O-Okay! Got it!" Y/n smiled and hopped off the stool and ran outside. "Love you, Mom!"
"Heh, love you too." She said quietly and went back to work. The peasant life wasn't as bad once someone lived it their whole life. Besides, Y/n's mother is a blacksmith and his dad was a merchant, they're a pretty good duo. Y/n, unlike them, was born with strong affinity for mana and had exceptional magic power although he didn't know it. All he did know is that he had... steam magic... it didn't sound useful at all. Especially when it kept making him pass out.
Y/n ran past a noble, giving him a dirty look, but Y/n gave one back. "Not all nobles are scum, corrupt and rotten... but the majority are."
Nobles... was is there to say about them? They took Y/n's father's old job and tore it down so I guess being bitter about that is a bit of an understatement. Y/n looked to see his father selling some communications devices. "Thank you! Come again!"
"Guess who?" Y/n snuck up on him and he smiled.
"Is it my adopted child...?" He said as Y/n got up to scare him.
"NO IT'S....wait... I'm adopted?" Y/n asked him as he turned around and shook his head.
"Nope, but you fall for that everytime." His father ruffled his hair. "What are you doing out here, kiddo?"
Y/n smiled at him and pushed his hand away. "Oh you know, just seeing if you need help."
Y/n's father put his hand to his chin before looking around. "Hmmm... I don't got much for you. But... it seems like they need help more than I do."
"Huh?" Y/n looked to see two small kids crying. He smiled at his father before leaping over the stand. Y/n walked to the two kids, "Hey, what's the matter?"
"We lost our ball." the girl said as she pointed to the forest. "It's large, white, with two dots on it."
Y/n smirked and started hopping around. "Alright, I'll be right back."
He ran into the forest and got deeper and deeper, but still didn't find the ball. "Man, where is this thing? I figured..."
He then found it and picked it up. "Alright, now let's.." "GRRRRRRR!"
Y/n froze... he could hear a pack of wolves as they started getting closer and closer. Y/n immediately used his steam magic in fear as steam started pushing out of him all over his body. The wolves started to back up. "Gotta... keep... it up...!"
It worked for a while but took a lot out of Y/n. His body fell to the ground as the wolves were confused but inches closer and closer. "Damn it... my fear... pushed my steam magic too far...I didn't think this is how I died."
"Make way!!!"
"Huh?" Y/n look up to see a girl around the same age as him with vermillion hair slam her fiery fist into the ground and sent the wolves back. The wolves took one look at her and backed off. She scoffed at the wolves leaving and seems a little angry and disappointed.
Y/n couldn't believe his eyes. The girl that suddenly leaped out the sky saved him. She looked at Y/n. "Hey, you gonna be okay?"
"Y-Yeah! T-Thank you!" as soon as Y/n said that, the girl went to leave.
"See ya."
"Wait... she's leaving? Just like that!? Wait! No, I have to ask...!" Y/n reached his hand out to her. "WAIT!"
"Hm?" the girl turned around to look at him.
Y/n lifted his body off the ground with all his might, wobbling to stand up. "Is there a way, to be as strong as you?"
The girl smirked and crossed her arms. "Train. Work for it or else you'll be stuck like that."
Y/n smiled and clenched his fist. "Then, I vow to be as strong as I possibly be! Even stronger than you!"
The girl smiled even bigger with a chuckle. She started to walk away. "Good luck with that, kid."
"We're like the same age..." Y/n thought as he shook his head. Y/n looked at her as she kept walking away as he slammed his fist on his chest. "The name's Y/n L/n, the Steam Magic User! WHO ARE YOU?!"
She looked over her shoulder and kept walking. "Name's Mereoleona Vermillion!"
She left as Y/n looked down with a smile. "Mereoleona..."

A couple years later, Y/n was 16. He was seen with his 4-clover grimoire beating some of the bullies with his magic. "Are you done yet?"
"Get him!" the leader said as one tried to attack him from behind. The grimoire opened and Y/n smiled.
"Vapor Ferrum." Y/n surrounded his fist with a steam aura and punched the kid, engulfing them in steam sending them back with some light burns. Y/n shifted his feet back to the leader. "You sure you want to send out more goons?"
Another tried to do a frontal assault with a fireball as Y/n sighed, steaming coming out of it. "Flumine Vapor."
He released a beam of steam that destroyed the fireball and sent the next foe back. Y/n kept walking to the leader with his hands in his pockets. "It seems you have a wide range of tiny mages. Now...you have to return something and apologize before you get everyone in the village in trouble."
Y/n picked him up by the robe and raised his fist. Steam started to swirl around his fist as suddenly a bunch of boys jumped out and rushed towards him. "GET HIM!"
"HE CAN'T HANDLE US ALL!"
"Disperge Flumine." Y/n sent out a wave of steam in all directions. It single handedly sent the boys back. Y/n looked back at the boy leader. "Now, I don't sense anymore people. Any other ideas?"
"...!" he tried to spit at Y/n but it evaporated before it hit him. He gave him a back fist and he fell to the ground, hard.
"I gotta say..." Y/n reached into the man's robe and pulled out a bag. "No honor among thieves nowadays. You, were sold out."
"Grrr...!" he tried to get up as Y/n dragged him to the feet.
"Now come on, let's go apologize before you get us all in trouble." Y/n said as he dragged the boy into an alley. A green haired noble stood. "Oi."
"You are lucky I am a very patient man! Anyone else would've had your head!" he shouted and Y/n didn't pay it any mind and ignored him. "Is this the scum?"
"If you mean the guy who stole from you, then yes." Y/n looked at the boy. "Now, what do we say?"
"Grg....I'm sorry...I promise to return all we stole from you." the thief said as the noble looked at him with pure disgust.
"So what...? You're sorry? Sorry?! That doesn't fix the wasted time and stress you've caused me!" the noble man held his head, "It seems that peasants don't even know their place. You're not going to jail. Filth like you doesn't deserve to live."
"W-What?!" the thief said as Y/n stood in front of him.
"That wasn't part of deal, Diro." Y/n said as the noble clicked his teeth at Y/n.
"Well, scum, the plan has changed. Move, or be moved." Diro said while Y/n sighed and opened the grimoire.
"May I remind you that you were the one who brought out his father's shop, and instead of expanding it like you promised, you tore it down and put your own there?" Y/n said as the wind started to pick up. Y/n looked the thief. "We'll talk later, go on and head out."
"You little-!" Diro put his hands out to Y/n and sent slashing winds at him, cutting the air around his body. Y/n was sent back and landed in a merchant area, Y/n saw his father rise.
"Y/n?" he asked as Y/n got up uninjured.
"I'm fine, but you might want to pack up early today." Y/n said as more slashes were sent at him as he planted his feet on the ground. Y/n covered his face as the slashes didn't hurt him much. "Even a noble wouldn't cause this much destruction in the open... is he a fake? Why would a fake be around in Kikka? No, maybe he's just a dumb one, either way. Dumb or not, he's pretty above average."
"You're a tough one, aren't you? Good!" Diro creates several blades of wind with his wind magic and sent them towards Y/n. Y/n avoided most of them and began heading towards him.
"Blast off." a large amount of steam came under his shoes and Y/n shot off. "Flumine Vapor."
He released a big beam of steam at him and Diro quickly sucks in air before releasing a tornado of black wind at Y/n. The steam only spread out, not disappeared. Y/n smirked as the tornado slammed into him and he went crashing into the ground. "Finally, the end of the pest. Now where's..."
"Oh, now you've got my hopes up." Y/n said as Diro looked at him to only be slightly injured as Y/n stood on the ground with his arms crossed. He looked up at Diro and he glared at the boy.
"Impossible!"
Y/n smirked at him and snapped his fingers. "There it is! The famous bad guy quote! They always say that!"
"Grr!!!" Diro created a streak of black wind from his hand as he spins around rapidly, creating a black whirlwind around himself and various other ones around the area. Anyone caught in them was spun around and then sent flying violently. Y/n couldn't believe he was going this crazy. He quickly leaped towards a woman going in a whirlwind and put her next to a wall, he leapt off the wall and used his quick speed to slam into Diro, also stopping the whirlwinds.
"This is exactly why I don't like nobles, they think they can do anything they want and get away with it scot free." Y/n looked at him pissed as he used Furtivis Vapor. He created a lot of steam at once, making it hard to see Y/n or anything. Diro tried to hit him but realized he wasn't on him anymore and instead a small orb was on his chest in the air. Y/n used Steam Bomb to explode the orb, sending Diro back with heavy pressure towards you with burns. Steam came out of Y/n's mouth as he ran towards him with his fist out. "Vapor Ferrum." Y/n surrounded his fist with a steam aura and punches Diro, engulfing him in steam and burning his skin.
"You're nothing but a fake, but still act like the real one." Diro fell to the ground unconscious as Y/n looked around at the people coming out of hiding. He saw some nobles down the street mocking Diro, but also setting their sights on Y/n. "Uh oh..."

"I'm sorry, run that by me again." Y/n's mother looked at him as Y/n and his father told her the story again. "Not that! Your plan! You both share one brain cell!"
"Uh... I don't have one?" Y/n said as his mother slammed her fist in the back of his head comically.
"YOU IDIOT!" she shouted and crossed her arms. "You're going to be hunted so they can put you in your place. It'll look bad if someone from Kikka is able to defeat a noble, no matter the ranks."
"I'm sorry...! I'm ...sob... so sorry...!" The boy from before cried as Y/n sighed. Y/n looked at the house and smiled. He took a big breath and sighed.
"Okay, I've got it." Y/n looked at the two. "Will you take this guy in? Help steer him in the right direction?"
"Hm..." His mother was distant a bit, starting to realize what he was doing. Y/n's father nodded.
"Sure, it shouldn't be too hard. I handled your mother after all." "Say that again?" Y/n's father started to sweat as a shadow covered his mother's face. Y/n looked at the boy.
"You think you can handle them?" he nodded and he ruffled his hair. "Okay, then it's settled. I think I like you better when your calm, it's like a whole new person."
"So, do you have a plan now?" Y/n's mother asked as Y/n smiled and put a hand on his hip.
"I've always wanted to see the world." Y/n said as he is seen late at night with all his stuff. Y/n gave his father a hug before heading off-
"Wait, here." Y/n's mother grabbed your shoulder. Y/n turned around to see a special hammer handle, but no hammer...
"Uh... thanks?" Y/n said as they chuckled.
"Try it out." Y/n's father said as he was still confused until his grimoire started to shine. Y/n opened it and used his steam on the handle, making a steam hammer.
"Whoa! This is cool!" Y/n said as he started to swing it around and it felt easier to use hus steam into the handle. "Thanks!"
"There is one other thing." Y/n's mother said as she crossed her arms. "Your aunt lives in the Heart Kingdom, I told her of the situations and she says she's willing to teach you more techniques and magic that they have there. It's quite a way to travel but..."
"Got it! I'll be good to see family especially after this!" Y/n said as his mom was taken back before she tried to stay strong and not cry. Y/n instead hugged her first and she was shocked, her arms in the air. "Thank you... for raising me. I love you."
She rested her head into your shoulder and finally hugged back. With her lip quivering, "Thank you... for choosing me to be your mother. I love you too."
Y/n looked in the distance to see the sun rising and smiled. He got his bags and started running down the trail. He waved bye to his parents. "THANK YOU!! I'LL SEE YOU SOMEDAY!! I PROMISE!!"
Y/n's mother finally started to cry after seeing his smile and running away into the distance. His father hugged him and looked at Y/n. "Go get 'em, Y/n."
"BLAST OFF!!" Y/n hopped in the air and put a hand out in front of him, the steam came out as Y/n rode on it before his feet started emitting steam as well. Y/n surfed on the steam with his stuff as Y/n saw the town getting further and further away. The sun was rising and Y/n couldn't help but shed a tear but kept looking towards tomorrow.
"I'M GONNA LEARN ALL I CAN AND GIVE MY BEST EVERY SECOND!! THAT'S JUST WHO I AM!! FULL STEAM AHEAD!!"
