Chapter 19: USJ and Villains
Yamiyo had no idea when he had fallen asleep. He just knew someone was shaking him awake. "Hnn?" He mumbled, rubbing his eyes with his fists as he yawned before opening his eyes to see Todoroki repeatedly pushing on his shoulder. "G'mornin'. We there?"
"We're pulling into the parking lot now." Shouto replied as he turned to look out the window, a slight blush on his cheeks.
Unboarding the bus wasn't quite as chaotic as getting on it had been, though a groggy Yamiyo was annoyed at everyone's volume. Sure, he was excited, too, but that didn't mean he had to yell about it. Yawning as he walked inside with the class, he looked around in awe. There were so many different environments and disasters housed inside a single dome. Hearing Kaminari make a comment about how it was like Universal Studios Japan, the neko giggled before turning his attention to the hero in what appeared to be a spacesuit, who introduced himself as Space Hero: 13, cueing another adorable fanboy session from Midoriya. But Yamiyo was curious about Aizawa-Sensei's conversation with 13. With his sensitive hearing, he was able to hear everything. All Might's limit? What did that mean? It didn't sound good. But the neko didn't have time to try and figure it out as 13 began to address the students.
"Before we begin, I have two or three things to say. Or four. Or five. Or six."
"We get it! You have a lot of things to say!" Most of the class chorused, prompting 13 to actually begin telling them what he intended to.
"As you all probably know, my Quirk is called Black Hole. It sucks in matter and breaks it down on an atomic level."
"And you've used it to save lots of people from natural disasters!" Midoriya piped up, making Yamiyo glance over and smile at how adorable he was.
"Yes, but I could also kill people if I'm not careful with it. Many of you have Quirks like that. Quirks that could hurt, or even kill those you're trying to save."
Most of the class looked taken aback by 13's words, as if they had never even considered that possibility, while Yamiyo knew that fact all too well. He hadn't hurt anyone physically, but mentally? Certainly. Kaminari's Quirk could stop someone's heart. If Midoriya punched someone with the full extent of his power, he could cause SO many problems. Broken bones and internal hemorrhaging being a couple examples. Hell, even Recovery Girl's Quirk was potentially deadly with its stamina-sapping side effects. The neko had learned quickly to determine how someone could hurt him to best prepare himself for that inevitability. The next bit was something about the training they had already done and what today's training was about, but the neko wasn't particularly paying attention; he was getting a terribly foreboding feeling that made his fur stand on end. He primed his tail spikes and put up his hooded mask. No sooner had he done so than he heard a very quiet whooshing, swirling sound from down on the plaza, and he turned in time to see a hand reach out from what appeared to be a dark misty portal. "We have company." He declared loudly, drawing everyone's attention to him, then, in turn, to the portal through which dozens of people who were clearly villains were flooding.
Aizawa immediately yelled for them to huddle up and get back, and for 13 to protect them. None of the students looked as scared as they should be. "What are those? More battle robots? Like the entrance exam?" Kirishima asked.
'No, you innocent, oblivious boy!' Yamiyo thought, his gaze still fixed on the horde of villains. "Those are villains!" He chorused with Aizawa, who gave him a sharp glance but didn't comment.
It turned out the portal wasn't just a Quirk, but one of the villains himself, and he spoke in a clear, refined voice. "Thirteen... and Eraser Head, is it...?" He mused aloud. "According to the class schedule I received the other day, All Might is supposed to be here...."
"Of course that incident was this scum's doing." Aizawa commented bitterly, contempt clear in his tone.
The man with hands all over him spoke next, tilting his head back at an odd angle that was uncomfortable to look at and made Yamiyo slightly nauseous, and it was clear from the slight warble in his voice and the lilt it held that he was insane. "Where is he...? We've come all this way. And brought so many playmates~ All Might...the Symbol Of Peace.... Is he here...?" He paused, the the glint of a red eye from behind the hand on his face showed between the fingers, directed at the students. "I wonder if some dead kids will bring him here~?"
It was then that the class' shock turned to fear, even though the neko was certain he was the only one who could hear the quieter man, the one with hands on his body, from such a distance, the stench of it washing over Yamiyo in a dizzying wave and several people yelled. "Villains?! No way!! What villains'd be dumb enough to sneak into a school for heroes?!"
"Sensei, aren't there intruder sensors?" Yaoyorozu asked, clearly forcing herself to sounded calmer than she felt.
"Yes, of course there are-" 13 began, but was interrupted by a very calm, analytical Todoroki.
"Are they only here, or also at the main building? Either way, if the sensors aren't working, it has to be one of their Quirks that's doing it." He said, gazing coldly at the mass of villains in the plaza. "This place is far from campus, and they picked a time when there'd be few people here.... So maybe they're not as idiotic as they seem. They must have an objective because this is a well-coordinated sneak attack."
"They want to kill All Might." Yamiyo stated. "I heard the first villain say so. He and the portal seem to be in charge. Everyone else, besides that beast with the exposed brain and jagged teeth, are minor villains, petty criminals, thugs and thieves mostly. I recognize most of them from wanted posters in the police station." So what if he was usually timid? Preferred to keep himself to his small circle of friends that he hadn't intended to make in the first place? Any information could prove helpful in a situation like this.
Aizawa gave a curt nod, then, his goggles up and his hair and scarf defying gravity, he began barking orders. "13! Begin evacuation and try calling the school! One of these villains must be jamming the sensors. There's a good chance one of their electric types is causing the interference. Kaminari. Try using your Quirk to signal for help."
Poor Denki looked scared, and it was clear that he was going to take it rather personally if his attempt failed, but he still replied as confidently as he could, "Got it!" As he tried to do so, Midoriya spoke up.
"But Sensei, you can't fight them alone!! Against that many...even you can't nullify all their Quirks!! As Eraser Head, your fighting style involves erasure and a quick binding capture. Head-on battle isn't-"
"No good hero is a one trick pony." Aizawa interrupted. "13! Take care of them." And, with that, their teacher leapt into the midst of the villains.
Yamiyo began to move towards the exit with everyone else, but noticed Midoriya lingering behind, enraptured by seeing their teacher fight, clearly soaking in the new information. "Midoriya! Move it! Unless you want to get killed?!" He exclaimed, running back and pulling on Midoriya's arm. "Hurry up! We have to get out of here!"
Snapped out of his fanboy daze, Izuku followed the neko to rejoin the group, only for everyone to be stopped by the portal villain. "I'm afraid I can't allow that." He said calmly, yet firmly, causing everyone to stop in their tracks, save for Yamiyo, who made his way to the front to attempt his own analysis of the dark, swirling mass.
