Backstory: Alison had always wanted to be a detective. It was her dream job, and while in LA, she was able to achieve that dream. She found herself a husband and had a child she named Matthew. However, on a case gone wrong, her husband was killed and Matthew kidnapped. By the time Alison and her team stopped the terrorists, Matthew had died.

Heartbroken, Alison came back to her hometown of Hell's Kitchen and started work as a private investigator and eventually became the vigilante Bast. She helped Daredevil save The Punisher and ended up developing feelings for one of them. Yet, she couldn't gather the courage to chase a relationship, her guilt and fear of losing her past family holding her back.
