Chapter 15

"You want me to keep researching? Fine. I'm gonna research. In fact I'm researching right fuckin' now. Yeah, hope you like that. Was just trying to be a decent person here for once in my life and you wanted me to go back to my own memory stupid stuff and stuff and—"

"Yoongi what the fuck."

Puffing out his cheeks, Yoongi frowned as he scrolled angrily through the internet. He had put down what he needed to browse for the murder scene, but he wasn't actually reading anything. Jungkook was done practicing and was sitting beside the black haired boy with a water bottle, chugging it whenever he felt most thirsty. He did look pretty hot, sweating there like that, but he wasn't in the mood right now. Stupid Jimin flooded his mind.

"Did the talk not go well?"

"He accepted my apology but he kicked me out of the room! I don't know what the fuck he wants! He just told me to continue to keep looking up what happened all those years ago! The thing is ever since a few years ago I already found out pretty much everything about it I just don't know anything about the Black Butterfly or why I was ever out on the bridge in the first place! Or who the killer is, even!"

"Whoa whoa whoa calm down Yoongi," Jungkook hummed. This must be picking at Yoongi's brain if he's ranting like this. He's probably losing patience over the fact that he still can't remember that night... Jungkook would have lost his patience a long time ago, if he were honest. So props to Yoongi for keeping it together all of these years. "I guess Jimin's still a bit upset over something, so we should give it more time."

Yoongi didn't look very impressed but he knew Jungkook was most likely right. "Fine."

"By the way... That murder that I found." He pointed at the screen, "I think that we should look deeper into it. I know it might be nothing, but the parents were murdered the same way as your father."

So Yoongi obeyed and searched up a few good sources at first to get things going. Jungkook was leaning against him during this time and nearly fell asleep from being so tired. Yoongi insisted Jungkook go rest but he wouldn't move so he let it be.

"So... Like it said before, the parents were killed. But they were supposedly dead a few hours before my father."

"What were their names?" Jungkook asked.

Yoongi went further in the site. "It says their names are..." Yoongi blinked a few times, as he couldn't believe what he was seeing. It has to be a coincidence, right?

"... Ms. And Mr. Park." Yoongi slowly looked at Jungkook, he doing the same.

This possibly couldn't be a coincidence...

They both turned back to the screen. He was expecting to find that somewhere there was talk about a missing child by the name of Park Jimin, however it never came up.

Was Yoongi just going crazy?

"I don't understand... Jimin's from Busan, too..." Jungkook mumbled.

"I know. I mean, maybe it really just is a coincidence?" They tried searching for more information on the couple in the meantime. They hadn't discovered much. They weren't seen as nice people, and didn't have relations with anyone – their parents were dead.

They decided that maybe they would find more about it at the police station, so that day they headed out. However, when they asked, of course they weren't allowed to see it which they knew (but yoongi was stubborn and just wanted to see if they had it). Still, the man did say something that was a good enough piece of information that could change the way he needed to know more about that murder.

"The files are burnt from the fire years ago anyway, even if you could see them."

They left, perplexed and frustrated. That was a waste of time. When they had returned to the apartment room, they saw Jimin sitting on the couch and watching TV. They went to accompany him, giving up the search for now (because they were rather lazy and tired).

However, when they both stared at Jimin, an odd, awkward aura filled them up.

They didn't know if they should mention the murder or not...They felt like it would trigger something.

"The news?" Jungkook asked, sitting down on Yoongi's lap.

Jimin nodded, staring at the TV. "I think another murder."

The trio looked at the screen. It was another male, and once again strangled. This time they looked like they had their temper more managed because there wasn't any gruesome scene like last time – if they were the same person.

The police say they weren't linked in relations or anything like that... all except for one thing. They said they all looked similar...

That's when Yoongi realized something. As the faces of the victims were displayed across the screen, he could see how similar they were. Except it was scarier because they were...

... Similar to his face.

The police had found a note, too. Or rather, just a picture of a Black Butterfly. This time, though, there were words painted in black on the bottom.

I'm so sorry.

The couple looked at one another, then automatically glimpsed to Jimin. His face was anything but his usual self; it was emotionless and distant. Yoongi noticed this happened whenever something was surely 'troublesome' for the boy.

"Yoongi..." Jimin murmured, and for a moment Yoongi thought he was going to straight up kill him then and there. There was obviously something very off whenever Jimin was like this; it was really hostile.

"Do you feel sorry for the murderer? That monster?" He stared at the two and it brought chills up their spines.

"Me?" It took a while for him to speak. "Why would I feel sorry?"

"Mmm... Have you ever thought what this monster went through in its life?"

Yoongi shook his head slowly.

"Of course you haven't." Jimin's voice was uneven and he glanced back at the TV screen, even though the news was onto the next drama they could suck up in their show.

"Jimin, do ... do you feel sorry for the murderer?" Jungkook butted in, his voice soft.

Yoongi could tell from the way Jimin's face muscles twitched, he was definitely uncomfortable with something.

"Yes." He croaked.

"Why?"

"Who knows what he went through."

Jungkook and Yoongi looked at each other, evidently worried.

"Even if I felt sorry for the monster, I won't forgive him for murdering people."

"Neither would I." Yoongi added.

They could see Jimin's body stiffen, and the muscles were trembling on his face. He hid his face, but they could still see the corner of it. He looked guilty...

He inhaled loudly, and for a moment stayed still. "Me neither." He sounded more in control of his voice. He faced them once again and he looked normal again. "Did you find anything?" He asked.

For a moment Yoongi didn't know what he was talking about, still lingering on the weird expressions Jimin was pulling off a moment ago. "Ah... Yeah."

"What did you find?"

"Well... We found out a married couple were also murdered on the same night as Yoongi's father." Jungkook explained.

Jimin nodded along. "What else?"

"We tried seeing their files but apparently they've been burnt years ago..."

"Is that it?"

"I mean... Yeah—"

"Their last names were Park." Yoongi said. His voice was accusing. Jimin noticed this, and stared back at him a bit defensive.

"They were?"

"Apparently they weren't the nicest people around." Yoongi was linking them together with the fact that Jimin's parents were supposedly also the same way.

"That sounds awful."

"Yeah. They didn't seem to have a child, though... Isn't it a coincidence your last name's Park, too?"

Jimin laughed dryly. "Such a coincidence." He stood up and laughed again because he was upset, "This is so awkward! I'm sorry, I'm not a very fun person. I really do think I'm a burden." Jimin bowed. "Sorry."

"Don't say that!" Kookie stood up as well, "You're really cool! I really like you, I mean it. I'll show you how much you mean to me!" Then he hugged Jimin.

Yoongi saw the wide eyes on Jimin's shocked face, the frozen solid body that sweated as he was being cuddled. Other than Yoongi, this was the second hug he'd seen Jimin have. Judging by his reaction, it seemed like Jimin had never gotten hugs before...

He looked just like a lost little kid.

"We wouldn't be able to live without you now." Jungkook hummed. He gently patted at Jimin's back while he was immobile with emotions overflowing inside, rocking their bodies side to side at a slow, calm pace. "Yoongi mentioned you had a rough past. I want you to know that at least we care."

Yoongi was already standing up at this point. He wanted to come into the hug. He didn't know why, but there was a strong urge to protect Jimin. From what? He didn't know. Maybe protect that innocence that was showing in the boy's eyes right now. Protect it from the world...

"Yoongi likes you, too." Jungkook whipped out an arm and started wiggling it for Yoongi to hop into the hug. Yoongi blinked a few times and thought, 'Bitch fuck you' but sighed because he really wanted to hug him anyway.

He was getting soft.

He huddled into the hug (awkwardly mind you), but secretly he liked it.

"Why are you guys so... nice to me?" Jimin's voice was barely a whisper.

They squeezed tighter in the hug. "I love you." Jungkook said. Yoongi surreptitiously became really jealous he said that to someone else other than him, but Jimin probably needed it. Probably.

Then he felt a shove in his side and he knew it was Jungkook. Silently he groaned. He was fine telling someone he loved them but doing it while being somewhat forced was stupid. "I love you too, Jiminnie."

"You guys are crazy..." They could feel his body trembling. He had started crying again.
