White, almost glowing feathers fall slowly and pile onto the ground like freshly fallen snow. In midair, a boy with short, blackish blue colored hair, his deep blue left eye exposed while his right eye was covered under a curtain of hair. His bare skin, pale as porcelain, wrapped in a scarlet cloth, chest to his mid thighs. His body was littered with dirt and cuts.
The room they were in was dim and silent, beside the gentle falling of the feathers.
Then, a deep, velvety voice broke the comfortable silence.
"Think carefully. Should you reject the faith, even this once, the gates of paradise will forever be out of your reach."
The boy didn't think about the voice's words. Such words weren't worth thinking about. The boy turned his head and spoke up to the disembodied voice, to where he believed thought was where it was coming from.
"Do you think, one who is among the faithful, would ever go so far as to summon someone like you?"
The voice chuckled darkly in amusement at the boy's sarcastic reply. Then the voice, which was revealed to be a black bird, perched on a black stick, spoke again, without moving his black beak.
"I'll ask but once more. Do you wish to form a contract with me?"
"I do! Now, stop asking suck tedious questions and let me know if we a deal!" The boy replied without mere hesitation.
With that, the white feathers began to rise and surrounded him, masking the bird from sight. The feathers then suddenly turned black and a soft white glow emerged beyond those dark feathers. The bird had transformed into a dark, looming shadow as he stood before the his new master.

White feathers fell from the dimly lit area and landed on the ground like freshly fallen snow. A girl with long, reddish brown curly hair, deep brown eyes that looked black almost covered by her bangs, walked along the feathers. Her tan skin covered by a red velvet cloth, covering her womanly curves, down to her knees.
The room she was in was silent, beside the gentle falling of the feathers. She looked around, trying to find someone.
'Was this what the Lord was talking about? "You might have a strange dream tonight?" Is this it?' She thought to herself. 'What is even happening?!'
Then a deep, velvety voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
"Think carefully. Should you reject the faith, even this once, the gates of paradise will forever be out of your reach."
The girl thought about the voice's words. Such meaningful words were worth thinking about. She turned her head and spoke up to the disembodied voice, to where she believed thought was where it was coming from.
'What do you mean?' She asked softly, clutching the cloth closer to her to cover herself more.
The voice spoke again.
"Once you reject your faith, it'll be difficult to get it back. It'll be out of your reach."
She sighed softly and looked around again; then she saw it. A completely black bird, perched in a black stick. She gasped softly at it. It was truly a beautiful creature. Then the voice spoke again, like it was coming from the bird itself.
"What about it my dear? Do you wish to form a contract with me as well? It may not be as strong as my now master's; for he was the one who called for me years ago, but you will still be bound and I will do as you ask me to do. What do you say my dear?"
The girl felt conflicted with this offer. Form a contract with a being like him? Be bound to him for God knows how long? And who was this master he speaks of? Is it the Young Lord? She didn't know what to do. But, if it means helping whoever this boy he speaks of, and having someone do for things for her; why not do it.
"Yes." She said softly.
With that, the white feathers began to rise and surrounded her, masking the bird from sight. The girl fell to her knees and started to groan softly and felt herself transforming as she closed her eyes tightly. When she opened them, she felt different, and she was right. Her once curly hair was now straight with spiral curls at the ends and a couple strands turned into a dark navy blue and she felt a stinging pain in her left eye. She closed her left eye; as she did this, she ran her tongue over her teeth and felt the smooth and straight touch of the bones. 'Weird.' She thought to herself.
The feathers then suddenly turned black and a soft white glow emerged beyond those dark feathers. The girl squinted through the light, with her good eye. The bird had transformed into a dark, looming shadow as he stood before her. He took the girl's hands and made her stand up on her feet. She looked up at the shadow and felt his thumb ghost over her left eyelid.
"Now, you are mine, and I belong to you too, my young mistress."
The fog rolled into the England countryside, masking it, and making it seem mysterious and gloomy. The waters of rivers flowed soundfully along banks with faint chirping in the background. A manor stood out in the wispy mist with a run down but still working fountain stood in front of it.
"Master and Mistress, it's time for you two to wake up." A deep, velvety voice with a slight British accent said.
A boy and girl were asleep in a king sized bed. The boy slept soundfully on his back, on the right side of the bed. The girl slept on her side, facing away from the boy, on the opposite side of the bed. Both slept in crisp white nightgowns. The curtains from their window were opened, letting the sunlight shine into their room. They winced at the brightness and the boy proceeded to wake up, revealing his dark blue eyes, his right one covered by his disheveled hair, and looked at the direction of the disturbance. It was his butler, clad in black. This all matched his pale complexion and jet black hair.
After tying the curtains back, the butler smiled softly at the awakening of his first master then looked at the still sleeping girl. He kneeled down and said softly, "Young Mistress, wake up." While he said this, the boy sleepily and gently shook her shoulder. She let out a soft groan and opened her eyes, revealing brown orbs. She looked at the man clad in black drowsily and he smiled at her tiredness. He stood back up and went to a desk and grabbed a teapot and started to pour a cup of tea into a teacup.
"For breakfast today, we have a lightly poached salmon, accompanied by a delicate mint salad." He said as he finished pouring tea into the first teacup and set it down and grabbed a second one and started pouring. "I can also offer toast, scones and de pan champagne. Which dish would you two prefer?"
The two teens sat up and yawned softly. The boy raised a hand to his face to shield any light in his face. "A scone." He replied, still tired. The girl stretched and looked at her butler. "Same." She replied, trying to rub the sleep from her tired eyes.
"Today you two have a meeting with Mr. Hughes, the authority on the history of the Roman Empire."
The girl groaned faintly. 'Really? I already know about the Roman Empire. I guess I wouldn't mind a relearn.' She thought to herself as she got out of bed and walked to a chair where her outfit was waiting.
The boy noticed the girl's groan but didn't say anything. He grabbed an eye patch from his bedside and tied it on around his head, covering his right eye.
"And this evening Mr. Damiano of the Poseidan Company will be paying a visit." The butler informed.
He was dressing the boy in the outfit he chose for him.
"Oh, is that the man I have in charge of stuffed animals at my factory in India?" The boy asked as the butler finished tying the bright blue ribbon around his neck.
"Yes, I'm told he's Italian. We will of course offer him all the hospitality the estate can provide." The butler replied while slipping on brown high heeled loafers with silver buckles on the boy's feet. The girl was honestly surprised a boy his age would be able to wear such shoes. She shrugged it off and started buttoning up her white blouse and slipped on her black knee length skirt. She honestly hated wearing those big dresses and those dreadful corsets. When the butler first put one on her, she fainted within minutes from lack of air. She sat down in a chair and started brushing her hair to get rid of her bed hair.
The butler saw her and walked over to her after tending to the boy. "Please Mistress, let me help you." He said softly. The girl sighed and nodded as she placed her brush down on the vanity and sat down on her side of the bed. As much as she hated having the butler dress her, she didn't refuse him when he offered. She watched as he slipped on black, knee length socks on her legs and then black combat boots with a one inch heel on her feet and tied them.
She turned to look at the boy and saw he was sipping his tea and decided to take her cup as well. "I know this smell. Is this tea Earl Grey?" The boy asked. Earl Grey tea was the boy's favorite type of tea and everyone in the estate knew it. "Yes. From Jackson Piccadilly." The butler replied after tying a blue violet ribbon around the girl's neck and patted her arm. "I shall wait for you two at the dining table." He said with a bow and started walking towards the door. The boy slightly glared the butler and swiftly grabbed a dart from the many on his night stand and threw it at him. He caught it between his index and middle finger without turning his head.
"Well thrown my lord. Even so, let's save the games for later." He stated while turning his head to look at him, his ruby eyes glinting.
The boy turned his head and closed his eyes, obviously satisfied. "Yes. I suppose you're right Sebastian." He said softly. Sebastian smiled and left the room, closing the door behind him. The girl watched the moment as she slipped on a fancy black overcoat and smiled. She loved their playful relationship. Then simultaneously, they said,
"Our butler is an able man."
A dart flew across the room, striking the back of the a boy's head who had golden orange hair. Three other people; two young maids and a chef who was an older man; gasped in horror.
The young boy yelled "Ow." a couple times as he clutched the back of his head. He looked at the person who threw it. "What was that for master? What did I do?" He asked his master, who was the one who threw the dart. "Nothing. I don't need to justify my actions." The boy said, while sipping his tea. The feminine boy gasped at his reply and the girl, seated next to the master, felt bad for him. "Ciel, shouldn't you be nice to your servants?" She asked as she checked the feminine boy's wound and stated that he'll be okay. "They're my servants. I treat them how I want to, Mia." Ciel stated monotonously. Mia sighed softly and drank some of her tea.
Right then, Sebastian entered the room, slamming the doors; he looked mad. "There you are!" He yelled, scaring the orange headed boy. "Have you finished weeding the courtyard Finny?" He asked the boy. He didn't reply. Sebastian turned his gaze to the maids.
"Mey-Rin and Julia, have you two washed all the bedding?" The girls blushed faintly and looked down. "Um well..." Sebastian didn't let them finish as he turned his attention to the older man.
"Bardroy, shouldn't you be preparing for tonight's dinner?" Bardroy clenched his teeth between his cigarette, while scratching the back of his neck.
"Tanaka?" Sebastian his attention to a small, elderly man with an outfit like Sebastian's, but with gray striped pants and a spectacle over his left eye, who was sitting drinking tea from a mug. "Well, I suppose you're alright as you are." Sebastian said as Tanaka chuckled. He then turned his attention to the other four servants. "Now all of you, we have no time for thumb twiddling this morning." He said sternly then he turned dead serious.
"SO GET TO WORK!"
The four servants whimpered in fear and ran off. "Yes sir!" The maids exclaimed as they ran out of the dining room. "Simply hopeless." Sebastian exaggerated. Mia giggled softly, thinking about Julia's panicked state when Sebastian yelled.
'Always willing to follow Sebastian, huh?' She thought to herself.
Ciel, on the other hand, didn't react as he finished his breakfast and walked off and headed for his study. He looked up at the family portrait of his parents. He lightly scowled before continued up the stairs. Mia, however lacked behind Ciel after she finished. She was still new to this whole 'being a mistress' thing. She wasn't use to being respected in such a way. She shrugged it off and followed Ciel into his study.
"The silver is polished to a spotless shine. The tablecloth is crisp, clean and wrinkle-free. There is not a single bruised blossom among the Master and Mistress' favorite white roses. And finally, the highest quality ingredients have been gathered to prepare a first-rate dinner."
Sebastian held a vase full of flowers in his hand. "The table is perfect. This will be an elegant Phantomhive welcome." As he worked in the kitchen to prepare dinner, a bell rang. He checked the board of bells that labeled the many rooms in the manor. The bell was ringing from 'The Study'. He let out a sigh. "Still so much to do and they call me now?" He said to himself as he cleaned his gloves and stepped out of the room, while slipping on his tailcoat.
The four servants watched Sebastian from a doorway. They pulled away and looked at each other. Bard spoke up. "A guest is comin'. All right, then this is our chance. Sebastian looks down on us all the time. Today we'll be so perfect, he won't even know what 'it 'im." He then he made a surprised face. "Ah!" Yeah. That's what he is gonna say." He said. The three other servants made the same face. Bard looked at them. "That's for him to say, not you." He told the other servants. "Oh that's a good idea." Mey-Rin said cheerfully. "Right, we have to stop relying on Sebastian for everything." Finny joined in. "We need to show him that we can be useful and not just sniffling children." Julia said confidently. Bard smiled. "It's settled then, we got a plan of attack!" He exclaimed and all the servants fist bumped the air and shouted, "Let's get to it!" Tanaka chuckled at their enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, Sebastian was in the his masters' study. Ciel was sitting in his big chair behind the desk and Mia was seated on his left in a chair that he just bought for her. Sebastian learned that only one of his masters needed something.
"I'm a bit hungry. I'd like something sweet to eat." Ciel said to Sebastian. Mia rolled her eyes. She herself had a sweet tooth but she probably can't compare to Ciel. "You shouldn't eat now master. You don't want to spoil your appetite for dinner with your guest this evening." Sebastian stated. Mia slightly nodded at his statement. Ciel ignored him. "I don't care about that. Bring me a parfait." Ciel ordered. Mia sighed.
'So determined.' She thought to herself.
"I'm sorry sir." Sebastian said, refusing his master's order. Ciel groaned at this but moved on. "Fine. About the portrait in the hallway," he started. "Yes?" Sebastian said. "Take it down. I am Ciel Phantomhive, son of Vincent, and I am the head of the house now." He said, looking out the big window in his office.
Mia looked at him in awe. He acted so grown up for his age. Most of the boys she met were stupid, immature, and only cared about lewd topics. She had met some cocky boys before, but no one like Ciel. He was cocky, but devoted to his craft, clever and always has a combat. She liked some fire in a guy.
Sebastian smiled at his male master and bowed at him. "Consider it done my lord." He said, barely acknowledging his female mistress before he bowed at her too. He stepped out of the study.
"Now, how exactly did this happen?" He asked the servants, pointing to a dead garden, a broken shelf that once held fine china, and a charred table of food.
"I thought things would go faster if I used extra strength weed killer on the garden." Finny explained.
"We were trying to reach the tea set we use for guests but I (Mey-Rin) tripped and the cabinet fell." The girls said, panicked.
"There was a lot of meat to be cooked for dinner, it was going to take a long time, so uh I used me flamethrower." Bard said, who now has an afro from the intense heat of the flamethrower.
Sebastian looked at the servants with disappointment and the servants whimpered at his intimidating glare. Bard looked away while the girls and Finny started to cry. "We're so sorry, we didn't mean to!" They cried.
Sebastian ignored the babbling servants. 'Our guest will arrive just after six.' He checked his pocket watch. 'At most we have two hours left. Not enough time to replace the tea set or find premium meats. What should I do?' He put away his pocket watch and looked at the still crying servants. "Calm down, all of you. Perhaps you should try taking a page out of Tanaka's book, and start behaving like..."
He stopped and gasped as he looked at Tanaka and his cup of tea. He got an idea.
"Everyone. Listen closely and do exactly as I say, understand? We must be quick about this." he started as he grabbed Tanaka's mug. "We might save this night yet."
A horse drawn carriage pulled up in front of the Phantomhive manor a little bit after six. A man stepped out of the carriage. It was Mr. Damiano. "Oh, how impressive." He said, in a strong Italian accent. He was talking about the garden. Which has been replaced with gravel and irises, to make a zen garden.
"Welcome!" The servants said with a bow.
"This is called a stone garden. It is a traditional feature in Japan." Sebastian explained. Damiano smiled widely. "Oh prodigioso! Wonderful! Truly an elgant garden!"
"We thought it appropriate to serve dinner al fresco this evening. Allow me to escort you inside until the meal is ready." Damiano laughed as he followed Tanaka. "I should have expected this from a Phantonhive. I cannot wait to see what else is in store!"
"Actually it's Phantonhives now. We have a new master that has joined our family." Sebastian corrected. Damiano looked at Sebastian. "Really?! Who is the lad?" He asked. Sebastian smiled. "Actually it's 'lady' sir. Lady Mia Phantomhive. She came to us a few weeks ago and is learning to be a lady under my master. You'll meet her today." Sebastian said. Damiano was confused by this. They didn't mention a mistress but must've been a last minute change. "Oh! Great! I'll be glad to meet the little lady then." He said with a smile and walked into the manor with Tanaka.
The four other servants watched. "Phew. We actually did it." Bard said, wiping his forehead. Finny looked at the garden with big, amazed eyes. "Who would have thought a dozen boxes of gravel could turn into an amazing garden!" "I personally thought it wasn't going to work, but it did." Julia said. Sebastian smiled at the servants. "Naturally we were able to handle this. We serve the Phantomhive family after all. There's still work to be done. Let's take care of it while the master and mistress are talking business with their guest. Look sharp now." He informed.
"Right!" The servants saluted.
Ciel, Mia and Mr. Damiano were Ciel's study, playing a board game Ciel brought out. Ciel and Mr. Damiano sitting across from each other and Mia was standing beside Ciel. They started talking business, as they planned. "The progress we've been making with the East India factory is quite astonishing. We already have the makings of a top-notch staff." Mr. Damiano said.
"Bewitched by the eyes of the dead. What terrible luck, it appears I lose a turn." He said dully. Mia petted Ciel's head. She knew how he hated losing in a game. Ciel looked up at Mia, then continued playing while Mia removed her hand from his head.
'As boring as this is, I would like to see what happens. Mr. Damiano seems like a gentleman; but then, why is he always glancing at me like I'm a prize of some sorts?' She thought to herself.
Mr. Damiano watched the two then got back to talking. "Right, now is the perfect time. We should begin expanding the company and building a strong labor force, it would-" Ciel interrupted him.
"Go on. It's your turn." Mr. Damiano was surprised but nodded. "Oh, yes. I just spin this then." He spun the dial and it landed a number and he moved his piece. "Okay there, five spaces. Now, what I wanted to ask you two, specifically you, Mr. Phantomhive, was perhaps you could contribute another 12,000 pounds to support our expansion?" Mia raised an eyebrow at this. 12,000 pounds was a lot, but she felt as if something wasn't right. The offer, how he was only speaking to Ciel and the occasional glance Mr. Damiano would give her, didn't sit right with her. Maybe she was over thinking. "I believe it will be quite profitable venture for you, my lord. I would consider it an honor to help expand the Funtom Company...."
"Lose a leg in the enchanted forest. And it's your turn again." Mr. Damiano looked confused. "He lost a turn, remember?" Mia spoke up. Mr. Damiano looked at Mia and smirked. Mia swallowed and she gently clutched onto Ciel's shoulder. Ciel noticed this and patted her hand in comfort. Mr. Damiano then said, as if he meant no harm. "Oh, yes. I remember now, my lady. Right, I move six." Ciel shook his head. "You don't. You move three." Mr. Damiano looked confused. "What? But..." "You lost a leg, if you recall. Now you can only move half the number of spaces."
Mr. Damiano laughed. "Oh my. This is a grusome-a board game, isn't it? Is there-a no way to restore my leg, then?" He asked. Ciel looked down and said, "I'm afraid once something is truly lost sir, one can never get it back again." He then snatched Mr. Damiano's piece and said, "Your body is burnt by raging flames." Mr. Damiano looked at the board and saw the place he landed. Mia grew extremely uneasy. Something was going to happen.
